Forza Horizon 4: General Discussion

I'm finding the response from the cars is really lazy for me on my One S. Having never used an Xbox controller before, it's proving tough to adapt to it (the fact I can't change the button mapping to what I want on the Xbox isn't helping). Does anyone have any tips? How do you set up your buttons (especially for shifting, E-brake).

When I play on my barely acceptable computer (even though I'm only running 1080/30), the responsiveness seems a bit better, and even though I'm using an adapted PS3 controller the braking response especially seems much easier to modulate.

I'm having it rough playing online with people who've played previous Forza entries, and of course I can't expect to be that quick when I've never played with these physics before. But I'm finding it hard to even be reasonable, especially on the One S. So, any help people can provide me with I'd appreciate.

Is your TV in "game mode?"

I've tried Horizon on a friend's TV that wasn't set to game mode and the input lag made the game nearly unplayable. Just something to try.

@LongbowX - not sure how much it'll help, but try popping into the Advanced menu of the controls settings page. You can knock the deadzones down to zero on the inside, which is something I try to do right away in every Forza.

Alright, I have completed all four big races prior to Goliath yesterday (Marathon, Colossus, Titan, and Gauntlet). I'm now just going to focus on finding fast travel signs, doing speed traps & zones, and driving on every road I have left to check out (I have less than 100 left to travel on).

I wonder why Playground made a beautiful soccer field near Edimburgh and decided to put a functional soccer ball in Ambelside... Come on. Just put the ball on the soccer field! Uff...

I’ve been quite fascinated by the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 lately. It’s always great seeing unusual cars like this that have a long history of being in Gran Turismo appear in a Forza game. The Speed 12 has been my go-to for Speed Traps and Zones and I’ve formed a habit of always showing up in it before a Forzathon Live session begins. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but this car fits just about any color you put on it.

This is obviously going to be a Forzathon event: push the ball from Ambleside to the field in Edinbrough.

Is it just me... or is there simply less to do in FH4? I remember in previous games, you had to grind through every event with every car class for 100% completion. In FH4, car classes wont matter anymore. You can ignore most without missing any event... right?

To be honest, I don't even know because I practically blueprint every single race I can

Is there a way to make money quickly in this game? So many things you want to buy (and some which you HAVE to buy to unlock things), not enough cash. :(

I have placed my TV in its "Gaming" setting, but perhaps I should fiddle more. It's a quite new OLED TV, but I can't say I know how well it deals with gaming. Maybe it just doesn't work well. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I mentioned in my response to CSLACR that it was one of the settings I changed first, after I searched on the internet for suggestions when I wanted to see what I could find on the subject. It did improve it, but not enough for my liking (and it still seems different from XBOne vs. PC). Thanks though, of course.

I don't really know. I mean, I do notice that there's less races, but there's at the same time more things to do in other areas such as in speed traps, special challenges like the stunt driver ones, online events & forzathons. I'm kinda glad they did this as I found grinding through the races to be kinda tedious. I rather spend that time towards making my own events with the blueprint system for fun or using the route creator when it comes out.

Okay, I hate the xbox dvr, it's still not showing any of my FH4 screenshots. Just the ones from the demo. Even on the xbox app I downloaded or the xbox site itself; they don't appear in recent captures. What, did microsoft change something between when the FH4 demo came out and the game's release?

For games that have early release, they tend to run into similar issues. I could have sworn Past forza's were like this too, I just don't think for as long as this. FH4 demo is an entirely separate entity as it required a separate install, so it basically runs as a complete finished title, is what I think.

I use onedrive, it's a few extra steps but its the best we have right now.

Right. As I said that, I now noticing that my xbox app is now showing my FH4 captures. So, I can at the very least screenshot the images on it with my tablet. I guess I'll be doing that for a while.

Mine have been showing since day one, just never outside of any Xbox application. They can take a very long time to upload, more so than past games I think because I notice that the file sizes tend to be a good chunk larger compared to 4k images I would take on FM7.

Why do the headlights turn on when you brake in the Lotus GT1? It’s been bugging me ever since I got it lmao.

Lol there are a handful of cars throughout the years that have had similar issues. I think in FH2 if you have a Supra with the aftermarket Forza spoiler, if you brake, the wingstands glow white

Small favour to ask of anybody that has the regular version of the game: can you check to see if individual DLC cars can be bought? I'm trying to figure out if the Car Pass is the only way to get any of the 42 vehicles...

Note, I sort of have been farming wheelspins by increasing my influence levels. I keep buying the influence skill on every car I have. :/

You have to grind for money. I'm getting 100k for 20 laps on most small circuits. And I think I got 500k for 5 laps on the Goliath. But there are short cuts too. Most (if not all) legendary cars have the 300k cash perk. For example you need only 19 skill points to unlock the 300k cash bonus on any Formula Drift car.. that is an easy 2,1 mil for just driving around.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. For the money I'm getting from the races I used no FE cars with VIP bonus.

The "if not all" part is correct. I'm working my way through my Legendary cars. None of the barn finds have it. Nor do the Bentley 8 Litre, Eagle Speedster, Enzo, Gymkhana Focus, E Type, C-X75, '69 DBS, DB5, or Beetle GRC. The 2016 Audi R8, 2009 SL 65 AMG Black, Skyline Z 432, and 911 GT3 RS 4.0 do have it. A couple had 200,000Cr bonuses, a couple more had 100,000Cr bonuses, and a small handful had 30,000Cr bonuses. Several had nothing. We should really put together a Car Mastery list for every car so people can decide where to spend their skill points best.

Do the Formula Drift cars have wheelspin perks? If so, that seems a bit exploitable for getting as many free wheelspins as you want with skill points. All FD cars are 300,000CR but also have a 300,000CR perk, meaning you can buy them, get perks, get the money back, then dump them.

There's two, but it would require so many skill points that it wouldn't really be worth doing it repeatedly.

How come Forza only gave the Elise GT1 a standard Esprit engine, the Road Spec had a 550hp Race spec Esprit GT1 engine.
