My impressions:
We all know the big changes from Horizon 3, (seasons, etc). But there's a lot of more little changes that make it even better. Ghosting traffic while in a speed/drift zone. Being able to change your car from anywhere on the map, knowing exactly what trees are breakable or not when zipping through a forest, so it's a less of a dice roll if you can get through or not. Being able to rewind while online. The new bat-**** insane drift suspension. All these little changes/additions add up to an even better experience than Horizon 3.

Aside from the car sounds and the lack of a groove music equivalent, most other aspects of the game have been improved on considerably.

Best map in the series. A lot of verticality, which is what I've always wanted. Edinburgh is well realized, and probably the best made city in series.

And the graphics, my oh my. I'm on the base xbone, and it's the best looking game I've ever seen on the console, while having a locked framerate. Quite a technical achievement. All the buzz is about how good the game looks on PC/X1X, but it's worth noting how Playground has mastered the base hardware as well.

This stands up there with the greats in racing games, such as Gran Turismo 4, and Burnout 3/Paradise.

Forzathon Live seems to be a "feast or famine" thing (The one I did tonight had lots of people, granted they had issues staying inside the speed zone). Hopefully they'll change it to adjust each round's goal to fit the number or participants.
I have a feeling that the majority of Forzathon Live activity is going to be on the first day of the prize refresh, then tail off quickly as people earn enough points for whatever car they're offering.

It's a neat concept, but in all honesty asking me to abruptly drop what I'm doing and run halfway across the map for a minigame is pretty inconvenient most of the time. Maybe if there was also a modest CR bonus for completing each stage so that it had a more immediate reward for the time invested.

That’s weird, unless it’s really late at night, most of the sessions I’m in have 30+ people at least. Most of the times it’s 45+.

As far as the game traffic, I like how it is now. I always thought there was way too much traffic in the other horizon games. Plus it’s super cool that they ghost when you do speed zones and drift zones now.
I seem to be running into the same issue as @Techlet. Most of my sessions range from 20-25 on a good day.

Too many icons on the map, dont know what I should be doing first, etc.
Don't be overwhelmed, do whatever you like. If you like street races do those, or circuit races, or off-road or cross country. You will find speed traps, speed zones, danger signs, eventually you will be able to buy houses, jobs will open, etc.
You are free to approach the game however you like, have fun there!

I've been checking the prizes, and I'm inclined to say the super wheelspin is a much better value for 150FP, than regular spins @ 40FP.

The super spins have 300, 400, and even 500k for prizes, whereas the regular spins don't go higher than 150 or 200k maximum prize.

If you use it to buy wheelspins, I've won up to 770k off a super spin already.

I think as long as you uninstall the vip pass offline it works, you have to quit the game too not just by backing out to the home screen, I haven’t had any issues stating the game offline on my old Xbox yet. Also that glitch is more of a super wheelspin glitch than a actual money glitch, I’ve gotten mostly clothing and emotes and a few good cars from that.
Fortunately a complete reset got me back into settings and back online. I think I'm going to pass on that method of wheelspin farming.

The more I play, the more the world feels utterly empty.

The game is out for a week now and I've still never been dropped into a session with more than 20 players, it's always somewhere in the teens, so I basically never see another driver unless it's Forzathon Live, after which they all immediately disappear.

There's also a lot less traffic in the game (seems to scale to the number of players), traffic which has a habit of just disappearing altogether when the online session gets iffy. I actually had trouble finding traffic cars required for some of the Forzathon challenges.
Pretty much the same here. And it's because every time you exit a solo event, you basically connect to another session instead of the one from before you entered the event. This, I've noticed.

Think they still got some kinks to work out with the servers.

Can I just say that a few of the bonus board placements are nothing short of rude?

Guess what you need to be driving to get this one...

Not really worth it in my opinion, unless you’re really desperate or low on cash, even when I’ve done it a few times and I still get the stupid spins with all clothes or low amounts of money.

Something I don't like about this game is the fact that simulation damage only affects you. Cross country races can be near impossible to podium if it involves jumps or crashing through stuff. Plus the dang rubberbanding really kills it for me.

Forzathon Live top tip:
For speed traps and especially speed zones/drift zones, there's no point in going for miracle 200mph passes, it wastes time and score.
In the time my teammates make one 200mph pass, I make two 150mph passes, (300mph) in the time they make 1.5 175mph passes, (263.5mph) I make two 150mph passes.

Basically, slam on the brakes as soon as you cross the line and spin it around.
Especially with zones.

Managed to complete all 3 forzathon live events with only 2 drivers. :)
Ran it down to the wire, but we got it with about 30 seconds to spare.

What you can do, is exit to horizon solo and back online of you have no forzathon partners showing up.

I've been on a server with 40+ people at once, though I've also had several in the 10-20 range. Seems like maybe they need to tweak the settings to max out servers more often.

I've also noticed it seems to depend a lot on time of day.

As for traffic, I've noticed it seems to depend on where you are, and how long you're there for.

I can't seem to find the final 9 roads I need to complete road discovery. I have 522 out of 531 but no idea where they are but I can't see any roads that haven't been covered.

There are a few short roads for farms and barns beside the road.
And the road under the highway may be hidden by the display of the upper road.
The road I finally found was these two patterns.

I looked up this glitch and it turns out its even easier on PC, once the game starts disable internet and then in game go to the house re enable internet and bam free wheelspins.

EDIT: done it twice and had about 4 FE cars already shame my legit spins were not as lucky

Any try or knew about this? It does work but don’t know if it’s gonna be patched or not.

I would advise against doing this, as Turn 10 and Playground likely track everything you do in-game (particularly around CR/Wheelspin accumulation) and if players are caught abusing this there may be consequences for those actions.

I remember a Rewards glitch in the early days of Forza Motorsport 7 that was pretty widespread (it involved intentionally crashing the game at a certain point in order to duplicate your Rewards), and some people getting banned for it.

I've only tried it once just to see if it works, but I don't think that should warrant any consequences.

 You sound like that guy who stole only one chicken. Don't worry too much.. the people PJ is talking about had 999 mil on the bank and where probably using trainers.

I have noticed some “interesting tactics” from the driveatars, sometimes when going round the outside of sweeping corners I’ve had them open up their steering to hit me off track... realistic representations of the online races maybe?

Also this has probably been mentioned but the driveatars also have rubber banding but not to the point where they will always be on your tail but to where they don’t fall immensly behind, on the circuit commonly farmed near Edinburgh I had been using my Vulcan FE against anything goes driveatars, one was in a lapping very slowly at the beginning... by the end I never manage to overlap them like I could in FH3 (Goliath particularly) and they had on par/ faster times then me but weren’t in sight.

Edit: These observations have been made on unbeatable difficulty with no assists hence why beinf knocked off track was quite noticeable with no rewinds
