My impressions:
We all know the big changes from Horizon 3, (seasons, etc). But there's a lot of more little changes that make it even better. Ghosting traffic while in a speed/drift zone. Being able to change your car from anywhere on the map, knowing exactly what trees are breakable or not when zipping through a forest, so it's a less of a dice roll if you can get through or not. Being able to rewind while online. The new bat-**** insane drift suspension. All these little changes/additions add up to an even better experience than Horizon 3.
Aside from the car sounds and the lack of a groove music equivalent, most other aspects of the game have been improved on considerably.
Best map in the series. A lot of verticality, which is what I've always wanted. Edinburgh is well realized, and probably the best made city in series.
And the graphics, my oh my. I'm on the base xbone, and it's the best looking game I've ever seen on the console, while having a locked framerate. Quite a technical achievement. All the buzz is about how good the game looks on PC/X1X, but it's worth noting how Playground has mastered the base hardware as well.
This stands up there with the greats in racing games, such as Gran Turismo 4, and Burnout 3/Paradise.
