And are you both really that dumb to think that character customisation options takes that much away from the rest of the game.

Resources had to be diverted to clothing options that you'll see every now and then in a loading screen, while 99% of the time you're playing the game, you're looking at low-res, jaggy liveries on your cars.

School story bro! Go and whine to someone who cares.

I imagine the ones who are into Forza would also want the art team to focus on improving the core content in the game (better livery editor with more shapes and material options and easier text manipulation, higher resolution liveries in general, and better and more realistic paint options, especially manufacturer paints) than 500 reskinned blouses and skirts.

To say that women can only be interested in games if they provide female character models and traditionally feminine clothing options is rather...eh.

I would love a massive overhaul to the livery editor but you're not considering the cost of development time for something like that vs character customization. One would be very resource heavy, the other is not only easier to implement but easier to market too. I'd imagine the art team was also pretty busy fleshing out assets for essentially 4 different worlds for each season of Britain... that's a lot of work.

Some people seem to think game deving is a zero-sum game and you can just swap out features implemented at will... this really just isn't the case.

I guess there is some misunderstanding going on here. I truly don't know how much time it takes them to add character customizations. If it took little time like in a few minutes then whatever. BUT if it took them quite some time then we can all safely agree that it could have been spent on other things rather than the importance of playing dress up. I don't understand how someone can be triggered over this or white knighting for T10.

There still needs to be an overhaul of the livery editor at some point, preferably sooner rather then later. There is really no excuse for T10 to have been lagging behind in this aspect when Polyphony has shown that importing your own images into the game works, and that you can have liveries that don't lose 99% of their fidelity the minute you take a decent look at them from up close.

Though some of the responses on here...yeesh.

I'm not sure there's much T10/PG can do about that other than make the game a 1x/PC exclusive. Liveries look very smooth on my PC and the screenshots from the XB1X version look smooth as well.

They already seem to be walking on thin ice with fans, what do you think the response would be if they suddenly told all the painters that their hard work over the last 5 years is gone and they have to start over?

If it was something for a complete overhaul of how the livery system operated, and with the features that I described? some would begrudge it sure, but I think the vast majority would probably accept it.

Livery importing is already pretty broken from game to game recently. If the cost of a better livery editor is either more retouching when importing or not being able to import at all, I'm sure we can deal.

After what I've seen from the community lately, you'll have to excuse me for not agreeing with your prediction.

This is how my game looks maxed out on PC, with one of the cleanest liveries available on the storefront:

Not exactly what I'd call smooth.

Sure, granted I'm talking about the ones that complain about T10 not improving stuff and than complain that when they do, they're doing it wrong or not focusing on what they want them to.

The fact of the matter is, is that if T10 or PG put across that this is what they are doing, this is how we're going to do it, and this is going to be what we're going to change about it, people would probably understand quite easily. Those that complain for the sake of complaining are fairly typical of gaming as it stands right now, and T10/PG shouldn't listen to them. Listen to the painters like PJ, the ones who have their stuff shown on the community tabs on the website. They know a lot more about the limitations of the livery editor then a lot of us do, and take lessons from GT Sport. Apply them.

That too.

You may want to check your settings as I'm only running FM7 on high and have no jaggies except on complicated liveries (I don't have FH3 installed).

Very rarely do we see someone saying a developer shouldn't listen to them. Congrats on your honesty!

I don't see how lowering my settings from max will make the liveries look any better.

The point is that somehow, despite running worse settings, it looks better than your screenshot. That means there’s either something wrong with your setup or it’s a bullshot.

FH3's livery system is broke resulting in far lower quality then it should be. FM7 fixed it so Liveries are far better quality.

Compare my livery in FH3 and FM7,
FH3: (PC Ultra Settings)

and a livery originally made in FH3 then imported to FM7: (PC Ultra setting)

I love that kept the Mobli typo.

Why don't we ask our resident painting guru @PJTierney then?

The current editor is fine for doing the actual livery work on a car. One useful addition was made in Forza Motorsport 7 (the ability to mirror and snap-move content) and there's nothing else I would "demand" from the editor in this regard.

Logo making on the other-hand is tedious. I would like to have a .svg importer like what's available in Gran Turismo Sport.

I shouldn't have to spend 10 hours of a 12 hour project making the logos for a car. I can go do real-world creative work for (potential) real-world money instead if that's the time investment that's required for high quality liveries.

Forza Horizon 3 liveries are bugged, outputting the wrong compression option regardless of what platform you play on. This is something that will not be fixed in this game. Hopefully Forza Horizon 4 doesn't repeat this mistake.

Forza Motorsport 7 doesn't have this issue, and if you're playing on Xbox One X liveries get a nice resolution bump.

I wonder if the garage reveal will start soon.

For FH3 they started July 20th 2016
For FM7 they started July 17th 2017

We are now July 17th 2018.
It's entirely possible they could start with the WIR on Friday.
