I'm not sure but I think 4 started to run better on lower end PCs as PG got better at optimising it. I'm almost certain this was the case with 3. Hopefully the latest game will follow suit as updates come out which address game performance. At any rate I hope the requirements to run 4 and 5 are the same.
I don't think they are because when I try to start 5 on my PC it tells me I need to upgrade. My PC is like 10 years old though to be fair, and was cheap then. At least I still have my XBone

Okay Eliminator. You still don't want me to see any of the other players, huh? Fine. I'll just play my own game then, and see how many car drops I can steal in one round before I get caught!

Sometimes you just gotta make your own fun. (My record so far is 10, if anyone wants to try and top that.)

I just found a proper cheese way to get to the harder fast travel boards on the buildings. Make a route that goes past the building with a ramp onto the building, stop on the building and quit the race and you are left on the building to get the fast travel board 😂

Now you know how Youtubers feel when they're going for kills in Warzone, lol.

Oh yeah, I'm know that after the fourth or fifth car change I'm being actively hunted, if only because I'm grabbing high level stuff and then throwing it away by downgrading to some crappy Peugeot or Escort a few moments later.

Is it just me, or is the Accolade for winning the Eliminator in the basic Beetle - or with upgrades from eliminations - literally impossible without, if it can even be done, boosting?

It could be done in FH4 so I don't see why not.

Oh and let me retry posting something which I should be allowed to say I assume:

Only casual players are heaping praise on this game. The serious players can see its many flaws and shortcomings. The Forza forums and subreddit are a better reflection of the state of this game and its developers' indifference to its problems.

I think the idea is to avoid everyone until the final race and hope like hell you are close to the finish line.

That seems insane. I've never seen a finish line less than 9km from the final arena zone, and with all those Exomotives and Lv10 Broncos you're not going to get there before them even if they head 9km in the wrong direction first.

Surely the best way would be to beat someone else Lv1 in the Beetle and take the upgrade, beat someone with that and take the upgrade, and so on? But then with 55 people starting in a map this size, finding someone to Bug-to-Bug with to start with will be a nightmare.

No it isn't. I mean yes you could do that, but you're far more likely to win by challenging people and taking their car.
I was specifically talking about the accolade in question, I'm well aware of the usual strategy...

Oh good lord. I'm glad I missed the past few days of this thread. :ill:

+1 to this! I'm planning on going after the XP/travel signs over the next few days while waiting for the next season + the new Destiny content a week from Tuesday.

My testing has concluded what is no doubt obvious to some: mid-engine, rear wheel drive cars make for much better rally vehicles than front-engine, rear wheel drive, as the extra weight over the drive wheels keeps them from losing traction and thus provides more reliable control when on the throttle. I won't say the Dino I violated fitted for B class rally is exactly Stratos-like, but it's a lot more stable under acceleration than the '91 BMW M3 I also built. And while I wouldn't expect it to hold up to even a badly tuned AWD car with the same PI, the MR rally cars are at least driveable and fun when you set them up right.
What about mid engined 4WD cars? The Peugeot 205 T16 is a fantastic rally car that works perfectly. I highly recommend it.

Well, as I've played it a lot and you haven't played it at all, I might have a bit more insight into the game mode. What do you reckon.
I reckon you need to learn how to speak to people outside of YouTube. Having more experience doesn't suddenly give you a license to be a 🤬.
Hmm ok. Well I played about 1,000 rounds of it including getting the Heads Up achievement (and winning without car drops on many other occasions too).
Take this post for instance, it's certainly possible to bring up your experience without being condescending about it. Let's give it a try shall we?

"Gotcha, I had about 1,000 rounds in FH4 and managed to get the Heads Up achievement as well. With the right strategy it's even possible to do it without car drops."

See, I didn't change anything you said, but phrased it in a way that didn't come across as patronizing. Stating your qualifications should help your argument, it shouldn't simply be your argument.

Doesn't Eliminator basically boil down to who can drive in the straightest line over the map without crashing into a tree/some other object? That's been my impression of it while trying to get through the weekly Eliminator challenges.

Good for you I guess?
That post isn't being condescending I suppose?

You jumped on my post assuming I was bragging apparently? No, I just stated I've played a lot and yes I am pretty good, I'm happy to post a screen of my stats tomorrow if you're sceptical. I've played FH4 for over 3,500 hours (and FH5 for about 150).

Yes, also getting lucky with car drops seems to help. Apparently the luckiest spot is on the other side of the map from wherever I'm starting.

No, it is, but it's also an attempt to educate.

I wonder what could have given me that idea?

I honestly couldn't care less what your stats are...

Anyways, this has nothing to do with the game so I'll end my participation in this discussion here.

I was more testing to see how two wheel drive cars in general would fare, since they weren't really that good for dirt racing in previous Horizon games and tended have traction problems on any surface that wasn't pavement. It's no real surprise that AWD will do well on dirt, regardless of wherever the engine is.

I think the FFs are also pretty effective in lower classes, too.

Which brings up something I've noticed. It feels like the builds are more diverse in this game than in FH4. It's a good thing, but it's also really interesting to see who sticks with what worked in that game, and who's messing around with the car pool available to them.

Mind if I ask what people thought of the story/characters/dialogue in the game? I'm personally not a huge fan of the game's presentation, and every latin-american player that I've spoken to hates the way that all the characters talk.

The voices I was iffy on. The general dialogue/story of the game was charming in a really dorky, cheesy way.

LOL at "casual players" "heaping praise". There are plenty of Forza Horizon 1 and earlier veterans on this forum and no shortage of bug reports but anything less than condemnation of the game is shilling for PG in some people's eyes (well, one). Thank god GTP isn't like Reddit or the Forza forum if Mr. "FH5=Cyberpunk 2077" is any representation.

It's fine. Lets be real, there is going to be a very loud, and frankly, very dumb subsection of the racing game crowd who basically turn into John Carmack when it comes to story in racing games, so developers are hesitant on even adding it as an inciting incident, and players are fine racing in a vacuum, more or less.

I'd like this to change, because at some point it needs to. But for now, FH5's story and dialog is fine.
