Liveries!

I've made loads of them (up to #77) now. It's been a while since I shared some so I'll only post 5 as dropping 15 would be too spammy.

PJTierney is my gamertag so all easy to find.

I haven’t attempted the trial yet, but if it involves racing the AI again on off-road terrain with tarmac sports cars, I’ll pass like last week. The Championship race that I believe was for the Hoonigan Escort (that I already had) was enough “race the AI on dirt” for me this series. I absolutely detest racing the preset difficulty AI off road, esp. at the dirt track on the west side by the volcano.

Even using a tune from one of the popular guys on Reddit for an Escort, I had to bully a bit to win.
Nah, it's all dry tarmac races. The issue is that Retro Sports Cars in B class means you don't have a whole lot of overhead for upgrading since most are high C/low B already. If you don't upgrade the tires then you lose out in the corners thanks to crappy 30+ year old rubber, but if you do upgrade them then you burn up most of your PI cap and can't do much elsewhere. That's likely why everyone is recommending the Trueno, since it would be fairly low PI at stock and allow for more extreme tuning.

The R33 Skyline I used was mostly topped out after sports tires, race brakes and a clutch upgrade, so I just concentrated on keeping my speed up through corners and using the car's weight to make sure the AI that fell behind stayed behind. My team never did catch the first or second place cars in the two that we won, but with all of us taking up the next six spots it didn't really matter.

Heads up, PG just cycled the Forzathon Shop for today and Christmas.

Besides the 350Z FE, the current Forzathon shop contains:
  • 2003 Audi RS 6 (100 FP, Normally $105,000 in the Autoshow)
  • 1969 Hot Wheels Twin Mill (200 FP, Wheelspin Exclusive)
  • 1964 Aston Martin DB5 (100 FP, Normally $800,000 in the Autoshow)
  • 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (200 FP, normally $16.4 Million in the Autoshow)
The Ferrari is an absolute steal, especially if you're trying to get the LaFerrari. The Twin Mill is also a good pickup if you haven't gotten one via wheelspins yet.

If that’s the case, I’ll try and give it a few gos then. Too bad I sold my Trueno for quick cash I don’t really need anymore.

I was pretty lucky with the Trial. I used the DeLorean. While building it I couldn't remember if it was all street or cross-country or what, so I hedged my bets and built it as a street racer with rally tires. It worked surprisingly well. We lost the first series because of the usual idiocy. We had already lost the first race. Then in the second, we were very close to squeaking out a win when the driver in front of me decided to drift across the finish line. He totally messed it up, hit the wall leading to the finishing line, careened right into me, and three cars from the other team zoomed past to give them the win.

In the second attempt (still on rally tires in my DeLorean), we just got the win in the first race, and lost in the second. In the third race around the streets of Guanajuato, I managed to force my way into the lead by just shoving competitor cars out of the way. Then I blocked to let the rest of the team through and we got a decisive win. It felt good, man.

For this season's Trial, use Drag slicks. They provide more grip for a lot less PI cost, allowing you to invest the remaining PI on race weight reduction and power upgrades. As a bonus, since they provide massive grip at launch, they trivialize AWD-swapping on FWD/RWD cars.

After you're done upgrading your ride of choice, make sure to set the tire pressure of your drag slicks to 1.0 or 1.1 bar (14.5 or 16 psi), so they'll heat up faster. No need to worry about them overheating in b-class, they cool down pretty quick.

I gave the Trial another go with a S50-swapped 944, and it's pretty good with it.

I can't confirm this anymore, so if you don't mind, I'd like someone else to confirm this, but is there a glitch where Twin Mill and Testarossa can be purchased over and over again if you don't leave the Forzathon Shop?

I first bought one of each of these cars for myself and then tried to buy the Twin Mill for a friend's gift.
When I did so, I received a warning that these items could only be used once, but that message quickly disappeared and was replaced by a normal holiday gift message.
I was a little uncomfortable with this phenomenon, but figured perhaps I could buy more than one this time for the holiday gift, so I gifted them to my friends.

Then I finished the race and went to the Forzathon Shop again to gift another friend with a Twin Mill.
But I couldn't buy or gift those items anymore.

Was this a glitch?
Or was it possible to buy only one of these cars for myself and one more for a friend as a gift?

Oh Deer i never got this ticked off as winning as I won the event :( 2nd time that's happened with these.

It took me about 2 hours on Thursday evening as well to do the trial, it was indeed a struggle. I tried many cars but eventually ended up with some B700 seasonal tune downloaded for the 1993 Nissan Skyline. The race that eventually did it was just me and 1 other player. We could‘t reach the first 2 drivatars but we always ended up 3rd and 4th (with 4 more drivatars behind us). That was enough to win the first 2 races. Yes we even won the second race this way. ☺️ The trick there (as with all trial races) is to start really aggressive and aggressively pass as many drivatars as you can in the first few corners. From then on its 2.5 laps of blocking them and making sure they don’t pass.

Edit - I don’t think the 1993 Skyline in particular is a special car or something, it just already has decent launch & acceleration stats, and the tune further improved those. I really believe the fast launch capability of the line did it for me to pass as many drivatars as possible in the first few turns. It’s acceleration and speed was great as well but the tune had aweful under steering. That was quite a challenge to stay ahead of those 4 drivatars behind me. 😅 But it worked.

Not sure when that happened in the update, but it appears they removed some unused cars from the event banner.

The Pre-1950s Collection banner has been replaced with a Napier-Railton from an MG TA Midget, and the 1970s Collection banner has been replaced with a Porsche 911 Carrera RS from a Dodge Superbee.

Does this imply that these cars will not be coming to FH5?

Yeah, the trial was a struggle for me too this time. Won it at fourth attempt but after that I decided to help out others and test my tunes a bit. Never saw a person winning a race except of my only victory at the last race with a grip upgrade. If I have some free time I'll definitely try some more tunes, and I will definitely try drag tyres build as @TealYellowOwl suggested, this is ingenious. Even with my GT-R 2002 with acceleration and launch upgrades starting in the back of the pack meant that I would never have a chance to reach higher than 3d or 4th, if I'm lucky with the teammates.

One more mention for @TealYellowOwl, thanks for the video! Never knew we can decrease the size of the score table. I don't mind that in the trial but hate it during the playground games.

By the way, a question about the launch stat. What exactly counts as such? Is it how quickly the car reaches 100kph/60mph?

The 1987 Skyline R31 is my most successful car for the Trial. I love it because it's a good B class without forza aero so you can keep a stock look. The 1992 Honda NSX is also very good, but you need to put the ugly wing on it. The Honda is specially good at fast corners.

Am I the only one not having issues winning the events? I won everything first try and completed the 458 challenge events without any issues. The only events I’m not doing are the Eliminator ones. I used a 3000 GT for the trail.

I can't think of a reasonable scenario where those collective rewards have a preset target to be reached. PG have no way to predict the time required since it depends of all players behavior and they doesn't have past data (even if they had some, why even bother). At best it is adaptative, and it may even just be fake, with a bar filling toward predefined dates.
Ho Ho Ho! What a surprise:

Why did you bump this?
Oops, I thought it was the last post because its what my browser landed on. 😳😄 My apologies, I'm dumb.

In regards to the most recent trail, I tried the GTR LM (I already had one and thought it might be OP as it was the prize car) not a chance. I find in every Trail that if i dont get out ahead and pretty much park it in front of the AI we will never get close too winning. The GTR LM handled perfectly at B700 but was too slow to get to the front quickly.

I then did a bit of research and found the S15 Silvia 4WD swapped on stock tyres was the meta. Was easy, I came across someone in a bright blue DeLorean that was rapid in a straight line but struggled in the corners and we easily did it.

I can’t remember if this has been mentioned yet, but the Stay Frosty accolade appears to be broken. It’s under creative>photography. It says take a photo of any car at the Grand Caldera during the snow. It’s the snow that’s the problem. It doesn’t matter how heavy it’s snowing, it never triggers completion. There are dozens of “Stay Frosty” and “Snow” or “Snowing” Event Lab races designed to help you get the accolade, but don’t bother. None of them work.

It took me eliminating 8 players for the 5 player playlist challenge to complete and in one game I passed the finish checkpoint about 10 seconds ahead in a one on one but it didn't register as completed and then was "eliminated" by the other player flying at least 20 feet above me. I'm going to avoid Eliminator from now on but at least I got a Veyron and Aventador out of it plus lucked into completing the last road even after getting the achievement a month ago.

Merry Christmas Forza Fam! It's been weeks since I last logged on here. Just want to say I hope everyone is safe and doing well! :D

Have a great Christmas and soon-to-be new year. 😀

Edit: I'm grateful to have such a cool family 👪 😊
