Not personally a Supra fan, however good for those who are and the older models too. I would like to see the Yaris GR though, especially with the new customisation options.

The map looks amazing though and it'll be interesting to see the other seasonal changes to it as well.

gr yaris is a cool looking car. would be great if one of the new additions would be the gr corolla. supposedly to be released in 2022.

Assuming that race they showed is any indication, the post-race Empty White Void is gone! The Evo crossed the line and we got a cool in-environment slow-motion shot. Also noticed that the screen goes "cinematic" letterbox when you get close enough to the finish line on the last lap.
Spinning to win just became (potentially) hilarious again 🙂

I like that races start with a ¡Go! now.

The HKS bodykit for the Supra and the fact there are some new Work wheels gives me hope we might get more Japanese race influenced parts this time instead of more Runny Bucket, Rotiform and Fifteen52 stance stuff.

And hopefully we will be able to get a Work Meister.
This was one of the wheels that the community has been asking for for a long time. (As we all know, this wheel was only available as a stock wheel on the Hoonigan RX7)

So, apparently, this hotel will be in the game. It's a 5-star complex with one heck of a view. It's identified on the map (top right corner), in Copper Canyon, where the hotel also is in real life. Nice.
Well, that'll set up the train for FH5 mentioned in today's update!

always love to see more rims. i noticed something in the car's stats that i think others missed. for one thing its visually different (the bars under the speed, handling, acceleration etc is missing. and another thing is a new stat under braking: offroad. makes me wonder what that does and what parts will affect it...

I saw someone asked for a map size comparison between FH5 and GTA V. I threw my current Cities: Skylines map into the mix as well, just for fun :)

The maps of GTA and C:S are well calibrated to scale. FH5 is an approximation based on the information that it's 50% larger than FH4, for a total area of around 110 square kilometres (including the water), so the scale of that map might not be 100% accurate.
full

FH5 has a much larger land area than GTA V, although I assume that some of those mountains in the north and south are out of bounds for players.

The volcano in FH5 seems to be similar in size to Mount Chiliad in GTA V.

The airport in FH5 has a runway length of around 1.2 km, compared to just under 1 km in GTA V.

The long bridge in FH5 seems to be 860 meters in length, based on my interpretation of where the bridge starts and ends. By comparison, the suspension bridge in GTA V next to the airport in GTA V is 1 kilometer long.

The largest roundabout in FH5 seems to be similar in size to that roundabout outside the airport in GTA V.

The highway is longer in GTA V, since it loops around the island rather than going from point A to point B. In FH5 it seems to be around the same distance as it would be to drive from Los Santos to that tunnel just after Grapseed in GTA V.

GTA V has a longer coast (since it has water on all sides), although big chunks of those are too steep for driving. Horizon's coastline look more car-friendly.

Los Santos is obviously the biggest city, by quite a margin. Guanajuato seems to similar in size to the combined area of Paleto Bay, Sandy Shores and Grapeseed (excluding the farm area).

The Horizon stadium seems to be around the same size as the container area of the shipping terminal ("Simeon docks") in GTA V.

As for the road layout in general I'm a bit disappointed with FH5, it looks more like a jigsaw puzzle than a realistic road layout. It looks like a hard map to navigate by since most of the roads don't really go anywhere, they just appear to connect at random. Perhaps the intention is to make the highway the most convenient route to take between the major destinations?

This road in particular annoys me :D

It sure looks fun to drive though :)

Nice work

Surely PG didn't go to all that trouble of licensing more Work wheels but not any Work Meisters. Let's hope

The map layout looks very great, but all those sandy stretches of desert I still find really uninspiring as a backdrop for virtual car culture. I know the map offers more than that, but I just think the increased size would have been more exciting if the setting and climate was closer to FH4.

Cover Car potential with this yet to be revealed new Lambo Countach reboot?
I maintain that the cover cars will be the AMG Project 1 + 2020 Bronco. If I were to bet on a Lamborghini on the cover (or a new Lamborghini in the game at all, really), it would be the Sián, though it has been in other games to be fair.

I’ve also entertained the idea that Playground have something up their sleeve that has made them not reveal the official cover yet. Bikes maybe? 🤔

Yes, I know that.
I just wanted to say that the race-spec rear bumpers coming back.
Sorry for the lack of explanation.
But it's not back, it's a kit option that is a real life kit for the Supra, not a generic FM2 race splitter coming back for vehicles.

If they did add motorcycles I don’t think it would be in the base game. Through way of expansion pass makes more sense to me to test overall reception.

They are using the AMG Project 1 a lot like a hero car but I do think the cover vehicle is one that’s yet to be revealed.

It is a part of the Heritage Kit made by Toyota for the Supra first shown at last year's Sema show. Comes with the MK4 style circular taillights.

When I see that pic, I wish the Heritage badge came with the rear bumper as well. Since they change out the lights, they could/should have done the badge as well.

I believe they already said short after launch that the cover car would be revealed later. If it would be the Project One and the 2020 Bronco, then they would have finished the final cover art by E3 as well as it would be less confusing.

I think the new Lambo Countach is a very likely option. Or another car that’s not yet revealed by its manufacturer.

Either the new Countach, or perhaps the production version of the Nissan Z (or whatever it will really be called) are good candidates for the cover car of this game.

Couple of thoughts.

The map is undeniably very pretty, though this is not particularly surprising as FH3 and FH4 were also stunning for their time.

Sound quality does seem to be notably improved.

Visuals seem pretty on-par with FH4 for everything other than vegetation density and detail, which seems upgraded, at least on the higher end platforms. The lighting seems the same, reflections seem the same, particle effects seem the same, water effects seem the same. FH4 was certainly not a bad looking game, so this isn't a criticism, especially as the game still has to run on the older hardware.

Other than a few superficial additions (like new upgrade parts, new map collectibles), revised user interface, etc, I'm not seeing much in the way of change. It seems like this is the same old Forza Horizon repackaged in a new location with some bolt ons. That's not necessarily bad as the formula is pretty good, but I hope in the future there will be some additional creativity thrown in.

I guess what I'm getting at is the experience of Horizon has been largely unchanged since the first title, and that doesn't appear to be disrupted by #5, at least from what we have seen so far. It's such a beautiful place they've created...it's just a bit of a shame its so limited in what you can actually do in it. Wouldn't it be great to strap a snowboard to the top of your Bronco, head to the top of the volcano and then shred some gnar down it? Or how about unscripted open world "missions", like deliveries? Why not?

If my memory is right (going as far as FH2) the cover car has been featured in the announcement trailer (Huracan, Centenario, Senna). Thus, I think we have already seen it and its the AMG One.
Edit: The Viper was also featured in FH original E3 trailer.

Finally I feel I'm not the only who thinks so. Road layout makes no sense and it feels like there is 95% of that same type of curvy road that also probably is very wide. I like curvy roads (especially narrow) but I also enjoy straight roads and realistic road layout (what TDU series had)

Hopefully it's curvy due to elevation changes, like the side of a hill or mountain, and not just curvy to be curvy (if that makes sense).

This time, it's a little different. There is currently no final cover art, meaning the Mercedes-AMG One may or may not be the cover car unless Playground decide otherwise that the cover car is something else (which I think is likely).

Is it any different than usual, though? This is the norm I thought when it comes to the cover art - It's released down the line.

This is what I was thinking as well. None of the roads seem like the make sense, and on top of that, there's not enough smaller, technical roads.

I'm at the point where I'm not really excited for FH games anymore, I'm just a little bit curious.
