I love both the Wuling Sunshine and Mazda 323 GTR. Seeing the 323 GTR get added to Forza bring tears to my eyes, as it's one of the other cars from my childhood, which was introduced to me thanks to Gran Turismo (GT2 to be specific). It's such a shock because we also have the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R as well; two cars that haven't been in racing games since. I couldn't be more grateful for T10 & PG adding them into the franchise.

As for the Sunshine, we need more cars like it. I adore these everyday cars that are getting added, but I hope we get more cause they feel...very Forza, if that makes sense.

Playing around with the 323 GTR makes me wish we could get the GR Yaris at some point. I just love homologation hatchbacks, and since it's seemingly clearer and clearer we're most likely not getting the Delta back, having the spiritual successor would be nice.

I hope the people who make this game also attempt to play it at home in their free time and have terrible experiences with the community.

First attempt at the Trial tonight, first race went bad because 2 guys using stock cars no-braked into us at the first 90 degree turn and pushed all of us off the track but one guy in a Corvette, we lost that one decisively and the guys that wrecked everyone quit. Left us with 4 competent drivers (pace-wise anyway) and easily won the second race. Third race got off to a not great start because one guy in a Jaguar was ramming the rest of us. Ended up pushing one of our teammates out of a checkpoint, then started ramming me when I was trying to pass him... Like just hold on for another minute and you can win the car/points and go back to crashing into people in Horizon Open or whatever. We ended up winning despite their best efforts, and I know I've been playing these games and online games in general enough to have given up on humanity by now, but for some reason it still makes me sigh and shake my head.

Also I find it silly they have us use British Fords for American cars... I mean there are plenty of options for actual American cars to use, why not use them? I know the game just lumps them under the same general manufacturer, but I would think a supposedly hand-selected list could do a little better.

The little Wuling is kinda fun... Built mine to mid C-class with the widebody kit and a turbo for like 260HP, lot of wheelspin but it makes it pretty fun.

Would love to see the Rallye Golf at some point as well.

Yes, we already have a Mk. 2 Golf in the form of the GTI 16V, but does it have AWD, a supercharged engine and flared arches?

No, no it does not.

Downloaded the first B class tune for the Sunshine and now I'm literally demolishing all my records for B class dirt racing. It won't (probably) beat the Scout, but it's surprisingly fast, with very good handing. I'm impressed.

Didn't have much problems with the Trial. Ok, got pushed out of the checkpoint, but it wasn't so bad because two guys in front managed to block the AI and we won comfortably. Will definitely do more Trials this week since I can finally use a competitive Italian car and I love racing in the fog. But why do I have this feeling that this World Cup is like Secret Santa all over again. It actually doesn't matter if the prizes are already decided or not, or who will win the Cup.

Looking at Good Sport challenge which requires to get five clean starts in Horizon Open. Do races in Horizon Tour count as Horizon Open? I suspect they don't, but still. Really don't want to touch Horizon Open for now because the loading times are horrible (although there is also a number of other reasons not to participate).

Oh don't even get me started on that.

We've had the British-built German-owned MINI as a British car, the British-built Japan-owned Civic Type R as a Japanese car, the Belgian-based German-built American-owned Ford of Europe product never available in the USA Ford Escort RS Cosworth as an American car...

... I'm just waiting for the Ford GT40 to show up.

You have to do the Open way. Bring a book and stay way behind everything that moves! The worst experience in Trial is still better than Open Racing. I came second two times just because behind me there was a war going on. Even with high speed ghosting there are accidents every slow turn.

Forza decided to make a Wordle game in a FB post that hints at a future reward car. All I can say is it has 5 letters and starts with N...

I’m gonna guess that the Wordle puzzle is hinting towards the R35 GTR Nismo which has been modelled last summer.

I tried looking for the original IG post but it’s gone, so here’s a screenshot of it from Reddit.

That looks like a very vintage way of capturing a car. 😄 I figured they would laserscan these things nowadays?🤔

I wish those dumb chunky offroad tyres would get nerfed. With the new Mazda 323GTR when building to A Class you can get 600+ HP if you use them and only 375HP with the normal Rally tyres.

I feel like the actual problem is the PI system only working with tarmac and not including any consideration for offroad racing. It's also why cross-country in non-offroad cars is harder than in FH4, because the AI all get auto-upgraded to rally or offroad tyres then have space to add power until they get back up to the same PI as the player car.

It's another one of those critical overhauls that won't happen any time soon because the game is 90% good anyway, and so the combination of adding a new map, adding more cars, and Game Pass will keep resulting in a top seller for years to come with no financial pressure to allow PG to make any major changes.

I don't know why you would but yes if you are racing Cross Country without offroad tyres you're at a massive disadvantage because they have such a small PI hit. The stupid looking offroad tyres are too low PI and make using Rally tyres pointless even if Tarmac is Involved. The amount of PI left over to spend on Power and other upgrades with Offroad tyres is too much compared to Rally tyres let alone any of the road/slick tyres

Like I said with the Mazda 323 GTR

With Offroad tyres - 600+hp
with Rally tyres - 380+hp

The entire PI system is just way outdated IMO. For the way FH5 is right now with road, rally and off-road tires, suspensions etc they should have used 3 different PI values per car: Road PI, dirt PI and off-road PI. And then each event, SP or MP, would look at the correct PI score for entry requirements. Your off-road buggy would for example at the same have a B700 off-road score but only a poor D500 road score.

But that would mean the entire system from previous games would need to be overhauled for FH5 but something like that was probably not an option since then they couldn’t simply copy/paste it anymore. I’m honestly a bit tired of FH5 feeling like a reskinned FH4, which on itself was already a reskinned FH3. The only big innovation IMO was from FH1 to FH2. Either they don’t want to change game mechanics or else they are afraid of it.

If FM8 will have rally implemented, they better work this stuff out properly or it will be the same there.

Just leaving stuff alone is pretty much the Forza way, the Motorsport series has been doing that since the beginning basically, and they have kinda shown that the two series don't really want to learn from each other... Whether it be learning good ideas or bad ideas.

At one point I kinda felt that the Horizon series was progressing nicely, and wished T10 would start putting a little more effort into progressing the series like PG were at the time... That has kinda trailed off now though.

FM8 hopefully won't have rally, partially because of this PI issue, and partially because they need to make road racing not suck before they dilute things further.

I got a whole three seconds in before I had to quit out. I know he’s popular and all, but his style grates on me like fingernails on a chalkboard.

+1

I have no clue how that guy is so popular, one of the biggest headscratchers in the racing game YT group.

AR12 Nick appeals to kids and young teenagers. Yeah, his voice is grating, but what I do like is that he does provide some good information and backstories about the new cars added to the game.

Not like it's "his" style, really. Tight competition for ad dollars has forced YTers across the board to become more professional (not to mention all the shenanigans over policy), with "professional" being anything that drives data that looks good to the algorithm. It's become like a TV personality, but perhaps worse. Ugh.

Everyone. Every… single... darn… video 🙄

Do you guys know YongYea? You should check out one of his video’s, it’s simply hilarious. He has some news to make a video on that would take 1 or 2 minutes max if he sticks to the point. But he always drags on his videos beyond the 10 minute mark. I have no idea how YouTube payouts works but it’s obvious the payout is better as soon as a video is longer than 10 minutes. Also, his BF2042 videos are lately the more successful ones so he releases several of them each week.
The complete opposite of that is Sean W, a Halo YouTuber. He does stick to the point and makes really short videos, often just 2-3 minutes long.

What annoys me the most is YouTubers adding extra commercials in their videos. I mean… wtf? Their videos already get interrupted by YouTube to shove commercials down our throats, they don’t need to put extra commercials in there again! And many of the channels I like do this, like for example Skill Up.

Well, yeah. I mean, that’s how YTers get paid. More likes, more subscribers, more comments mean more payouts. I’m not going to give anyone grief for that. Even the commercials. If it’s a channel I enjoy, then I’m willing to put up with it. Maybe because I grew up when there were only six or seven channels on a TV set, you couldn’t skip commercials, and if you wanted to watch a specific show you had to be in front of the tv according to the show’s schedule, not your own, I’m more forgiving of a couple 15 second commercials and a request to help the YT content provider get paid. But we’re way off-topic here. I have a Favorite YouTube Channel thread in the Music, Movies and TV sub-thread in Off-Topic. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and leave a comment. It’s thanks to forum members like you that I’m able to bring you new threads like this.

(But yeah, AR12 is just… awful. Sorry, AR12 fans.)
