I also don't see any difference between being forced to do a Playlist vs any career mode. I'm doing the same things since it's a racing game. But then players can be against career rewards too I suppose.
This is why I specifically mentioned keeping things as they are, but without the timer. A career mode wouldn't be on a timer, this shouldn't be either.
As for FOMO I just never cared enough I guess. Even now I'm missing some cars from November and December. I could try the AH but I know they will return eventually. So I'm just waiting patiently.
I wish it was guaranteed that they would come back, but it isn't guaranteed. Some cars in FH4 didn't show up in the backstage pass and aren't appearing in the looping playlists.

I'm missing cars too because I needed a break. I'm hoping they will come back. But I can't be sure.

This wouldn't be an issue if I could just go back and do those races now.

I understand what you want. And I really hope they will eventually come with a solution and made past cars available for all those that missed certain cars. Something even better than backstage pass. Opening past playlists would be my favourite solution too.

Really useful video by HokiHoshi detailing the Pros and Cons of Anti-Lag and Launch Control.

In summary both features are implemented pretty well. Anti-Lag has the most benefit on Single Turbo setups as they tend to be bigger than Twins and more susceptible to Lag like IRL. Anti-Lag is still useful on Twin Setups though especially if you're already using the race turbo upgrade given Anti-Lag is free in PI cost.

LC is obviously most useful in High power/Low grip 2WD cars, On loose surfaces and Starting on Inclines.

Am I right in thinking that Launch Control is essentially meaningless in races/rivals since you can’t control the revs off the start line anyway?

If you're holding Accel and Handbrake I think it works for races. Don't quote me though as to be honest I haven't tried it myself as I am so used to no assists.

In the developer stream they said that LC would work automatically on race starts, and you only need to hold on the handbrake to use it in free roam.
Ah yes that makes sense, I think I remember that now. 👍

What's people's opinions with LC I've had it turned off so I have no opinion on its Efficacy. Is it a worth using? Especially in PVP?

Hokihoshi did a video on anti lag and LC yesterday. His test results were that anti lag is basically always good if you have a race turbo since it costs barely any PI and it will never make you slower, however benefits for modern turbo supercars are tiny.

launch control offers benefits on fast cars which are FWD or RWD and on loose surfaces. Slower cars with high grip actually launch slightly worse, but it's not a huge deal. Leaving LC enabled is good for almost anyone.

Launch control's quite the blessing. Might have even alleviated some severe difficulty spikes I've might've had during races (maybe not all the time).

This week's hypercar eventlab is beautiful and I have a lot of respect for the enormous amount of time and effort the creators put into this track.
If it had been me, I would have definitely abandoned the task of creating the enormous hex pattern of neon lights floating in the air halfway through.

However, as an Xbox One player, it was a very hard experience to run three laps of this very fps-depleting track...

If it’s any consolation, it didn’t run too great in Series X either. Not as bad as some others in the past, but still noticeable. Weirdly though, it was apparently so taxing on the console that I could audibly hear the fan coming on, which is saying something as it doesn’t usually skip a beat.

I genuinely don't understand how PC issues that have been around since launch haven't been squashed yet. I reinstall the game, wanting to take the expansion for a spin and the audio bug is still a thing. I change the sampling quality and it's still there.

Suffice to say, I've uninstalled all over again. I'm just...so tired of shoddy PC ports and issues never being resolved. Is that too much to ask for?
So, uh, in a weird bit of happenstance...the game reinstalled itself (or I didn't confirm the delete, thinking I did) as if to say "T, you know how irritable you can be in the wee hours of the night. Here's a do-over, you moron." and I adjusted the sampling and bit rate again and now there's no longer any crackling/static.

So... I'm playing now.

I'm on Series X also and it was indeed piss-poor right at the start; I'd estimate mid-20s fps. Seemed to settle after that.

Having to reinstall my FH5 because it's consistently crashing at the first obstacle smash in the Rally Adventure intro, as well as not reliably booting. Not fun, and really hoping it doesn't reset my progress.

@PJTierney you're starting off my Super 7 this week bud 👍

Sure would be nice if they could fix the convoy stuff. Trying to play with a friend to do the... Arcade or whatever they are called nowadays, tells me it can't start because my convoy leader isn't in the start area, and I can't see them on the map anywhere... Meanwhile they are sitting there in the circle going "uhh you are like 10 feet in front of me what do you mean I'm not in the circle?"

Took me a while just to get the Arcade circles to show up on my map. They would either not appear, or appear for a brief second and disappear the second I touched anything to try to scroll over to them and fast travel.

The Miami Vice EventLab is cute. Framerate breaks on the back side with the boat on my OG XB1, but I appreciate the effort. The jump into the parking garage is a neat touch. Shame there aren't tools to remove the trees/shrubs as it's pretty silly seeing them poking up through the road.

Next week's weekly challenge is... interesting. It's called "Corvette Racing" but you drive the 5th gen Camaro Z/28, and the description says "Own and drive the fifth generation of cameros [sic]." I never do/pay attention the weekly challenges so I dunno if it's normal for them to have errors ahead of time and they fix them by the time they go live or something.

Did they downgrade Super 7 to the point that they only give out super wheelspins? Quite a bummer, since they should've given past playlist cars in its place. But what do I know, they ain't gonna do it.
No bud. Some weeks it's cars, others a Super Wheelspin.

As far as I'm aware, the seasons are part of the update that comes out a couple of days before they start, so they can't be patched without another full title update. I don't know why it's done that way instead of downloading them from the game servers on startup like most online service games do, but hopefully they'll rethink things for the next game after the number of broken challenges there have been in FH5. The game already falls back to a default season if you're offline for some reason.

Is it for some particular reason we can't buy a second Focus RS or Fastball or Hammerhead? Or any of the DLC cars...

I guess it makes sense that you have to get rewarded alll of the cars first because you can't get them all until the final race when you get the Lightning.

Hopefully they will become available for purchase once I've done the Final race later.

Yeah it also happened to me. Probably bug.

Continued playing the Rally DLC this morning and eventually unlocked all events, cars and completed the Goliath (still got some stuff left to do though). With a bit more gameplay experience under my belt I have to say this is a solid expansion. I like the looks and biomes even though it feels a lot like “more of the same from the main game”.
What really stands out for me from a gameplay perspective is the technicality of the race stages. This feels like by far the hardest roads to race on that Horizon has ever seen, and that’s a good thing. Also a good thing is that lower tier classes, even as low as C-class seem to shine here. While racing in C class on the main map can be a snore fest, here it can be very exciting. Also the amount of races we got is really good.
As far as the 10 DLC cars go, I’m fine with all the buggies and pro trucks since it’s not that we had so many of them. It also makes me believe FM-not-8 will have a pro truck class again, perhaps even a buggy class. Rally or off-road is probably not on the menu since they already cut deep into their circuit list compared to FM7.

Anyway I think this FH5 Rally Adventure easily slots in at number 3 of my FH expansion rankings (as I predicted on wednesday) :

1 - FH3 Blizzard Mountain
2 - FH3 Hot Wheels
3 - FH5 Rally Adventure
4 - FH4 Fortune Island
5 - FH2 Storm Island
6 - FH5 Hot Wheels
7 - FH4 LEGO Speed Champions

Not listed because of reasons : FH1 1000 club, FH1 Rally Expansion, FH2 Porsche Expansion. I do own them all though and only played a small bit of the FH1 Rally expansion.

I have a fun RA bug where the car I'm driving always shows its stock PI, so I'm driving an A800 Scooby which shows as a B635 in results screens etc.

I had that with an upgraded Jimco Fastball. I upgraded to A but was showing its stock B class PI.
