Forza - HORIZON

It's looks a bit like NFS. However, looking like NFS =/= NFS, at all. One is an arcade game that is easily unrealistic at times but this seems to simulate real life open world. This seems like the first open world sim racing game, rather than what FM is.

Driving across a lot of different landscapes to get to one location is just like The Run, most likely less tailored to make it more of a core driving game than an action movie.

Lol "original" I like how they ripped the music festival scene right outta motor storm.. The true motor music festival may i add... =D

My thoughts exactly! Motorstorm Pacific Rift is awesome, in spite of the whole music festival thing. I have nothing against it, but why? What has that got to do with hauling a**? Waste of development time IMO, I don't need an excuse to go tearing across the virtual countryside!

Sure, that seems likely

Can I ask what user interface you are using on both games? Pads in both? Wheels on both? If wheel, which one(s)?

I am of the opposite. I think GT5 is too easy and less realistic to drive and race compared to Forza 4 for numerous reasons (already stated many in the vs threads). That's not saying GT5 does it wrong, it's saying FM4 does it better.

For these reasons, I hope Forza Horizon retains the same physics engine as Forza 4. But seeing as we're getting different surfaces apparently, I hope they are tweaking the code for different surfaces and makes it feel realistic, not arcadey and not tacked on. Forza Horizon could very well be a great open world racing game with sim type of physics, but it could also be a decent game with good sim physics in dry conditions and complete and utter crap in other road surfaces. We'll have to wait and see!!

I use a wheel for both games and i havent played gt5 in over 2 months so.. but on the topic hand.. i really do hope the game still feels good when its released .. It looks promising

Well the demo just un-sold me, kinda. The whole festival B.S. is not my style, I was hoping for more TDU2 feel than NFS. Also, why do you get points for destroying things? Is that behavior we want encouraged? And I'm not sure if it's going to be the ENTIRE state of colorado, with correct roads and all; it sounded to me from the interview that it was based on Colorado. Well have to see how it turns out, but I can tell that its not enough for me to buy another console.
I'm all worn out from monitoring E3, tonight I need a vacation, Ibiza or Hawaii? Or both?Hmm...

This.

Like the classic Mini Cooper. Remember before in PGR4 it had one? Good times. And the festival part, I guess that's where it's based on PGR style. I'm good with that idea, BUT. At least PGR had license plates on *every* car. ;)

The difference being in Forza you can use license plates from any country with anything you want on them. People use the livery editor for them, they always have done and this will be no different

How else would they introduce the 'stunt' events and the crowds then? Motorstorm is a different type of game entirely, an aggressive off roader across varying terrain, not a street racer with supercars. The only link is the festival. In fact, the festival in Motorstorm is entirely redundant; it's used in the menus and nowhere else. The game could easily exist without it but nobody thinks of that because it's not a direct competitor with their favourite PS3 title.

I was looking forward to this game thinking it is going to be real open road experience, buying cars from a cardealer in the city or in the suburbs ... I don't like the idea of a festival ... I don't know, just not my thing.

But honestly no one would follow traffic laws in a free roam game unless there was serious penalties to it.. And i only said this because i heard pd with free roam idea (didnt look into details because I know it wasnt going to happen)

I followed traffic laws in Midnight Club and GTA when I felt like it, there is no need for any kind of penalty to force proper driving. Have you seen how many cruising rooms exist on GT5?

Anyway, since this game has realistic physics it might be worth buying. Though I'd rather just get FM4. Also, if you get points for causing damage and being wreckless, I'll probably have zero points forever.

Joie de vivre!

Wait for more videos before you make your judgment. Still a ways to go before its out.

Thanks for that video, I already recognize a location. During that demo, around 16:00 in he enters a gated mountain complex and starts driving up the road into those mountains. I instantly knew where he was. :dopey:

That is the Colorado National Monument, just south of my home town. :D

From 16:10 to 16:30 he goes around these corners:

If this is what i hoped TDU would have been I am sold on day one. I loved the first TDU, but the second one the physics were just so terrible. DO YOU HEAR ME DAN, MAKE TDU WITH FORZA PHYSICS AND CUSTOMIZATION.... DO YOU HEAR ME DAN!!!

Hey R1600Turbo. You seem to know a lot of Colorado. Since I'll be play Horizon as well, if you're playing too, hook me up so you can show me some of the neatest areas especially the town and forests. If yes, than I can't wait. :)

Having not been a fan of Forza due to the physics, since this game is more of a NFS style where physics don't really matter, I may end up buying it. (and mostly for the fact it's set in Colorado)

Having watched that video again, the roads leading up to the entrance of the mountain park I talked about above are incorrect. But I figured that would be the case. Can't exactly fit all of Colorado in the game, they have to compromise somewhere.

I don't know what to think or to make of this. On the one hand, it looks like it could be everything I've ever wanted in a racing game ... but at the same time, it looks like it could be everything I'd hate.

I'm thinking the same. If it is as good as what it can be, I may have to get an xbox 360.

I'm just concerned the game is straying into NEED FOR SPEED and BURNOUT territory. While those games work, they're not FORZA. FORZA needs that formalised circuit racing, but I love the idea of the player entering into an actual world and finding events rather than simply going through menu after menu.

When I get an Xbox, should I get Forza 4 or wait for Horizon? Will FM4 still get DLC?

Want something fun, buy Horizon. If you're looking for a suit and tie simulator (but still oodles of fun from what I've heard), buy FM4. That's my opinion though and I might be completely wrong :)

if they want to make a game like this but with Forza driving physics, then I am all for it.
