Interesting how the AI cars are stripped of their polys but your car retains them. Not just the headlights but the body panels and hoods/bonnets are much lower in polys.

Focus the camera on the AI BMW (Press X over the car) and I think, although I'm not 100% certain, the poly count will rise to the highest amount. So it's not automatically your car, it's whichever the camera has focused upon.

I noticed this during the replays in the demo the first time I played it, the AI cars looked duller and less detailed.

I know, but it may always use the low-res version anyway, if this is in fact what its doing.

I just checked the Viper SRT10 (a disc 1 car) and my car compared to the AI car differ greatly like the pics above. AI cars look to have around 50,000-80,000 poly but my car looks around 200,000.

I'm not using the clutch button, just manual. Have a Fanatec on order but would like to use my G25. Using the joypad is a pain and this is my first week with the 360 joypad.

The X button was pressed on both pics. I take a lot of pics and I'm always pressing it.

The only thing that changes is the light direction when you press the focus button on a AI car. You'll see the lighting switch to your new position. No higher poly models. Not sure about the demo.

Been attempting to have a clean race all day, and I'm not sure I've had over two or three. where I haven't been chucked off at least one corner. Then you think you're doing good, you're quicker than the guy ahead of you, just need an opportunity to pass, then he brakes somewhere you don't expect because you don't need to, and either you swerve and end up in the sand or you nail him and you both go...

And how much did Audi pay Turn10 for this game? Just happens to be that Audis dominate every class...Hmmmm. And the car on the cover, the R8 V10...Fastest A class car by far.

Does anyone know more (location, car, driver) about this? 242 miles = 390 km/h. That's insane.

Either the Brit who imported a CC8S for the Gumball in 03, or that Veyron er....incident that was noted on TGUK - I think the latter.

A CC8S, that's what it was! I thought it was a CCR. :ill:

EDIT: Wait, I think I put a foot in my mouth, again. Brit? I thought it was a Texan (if this is indeed the same scenario)?

It was. During the Gumball, s Koenigsegg driver allegedly hit 242Mph down one of the highways above Austin, which is where people started believing that the Koenigsegg was the fastest production car.

Did he get caught at 242mph? Or was it a alleged speed he reached?

Didn't the Veyron actually get caught at around 240mph?

No, it was in Texas, but the guy had a British accent and was apparently some sort of internet programmer prodigy - he was in his low to mid 20s.

Arthur Chirkinian...it think his name was.

Ah. Must have thought his speed was equivalent to 01010011 01101100 01101111 01110111.

(Slow, in binary. :P)

one thing I noticed during play, the ai is 'gran turismo 4' bad, yeah I know, I said the big word, but especially when you fire up 'B-spec Bob' the displayed show is just tragic. It's a shame the whole career mode isn't online.

I find the AI a bit of a mixed bag. If you can get alongside the AI or outbreak it from half a car length behind to slip down it's inside, it won't usually just take it's normal line into the corner and will accommodate you. On the other hand, I've been rammed hard while braking for corners (maybe I braked a bit early, but that's not really the point.)

Looking forward to trying the B class cars in the circuit category. I've only raced 'A' class with that being the lowest category available so far. Races have been so-so. The middle of the field is littered with people who will just try to drive through you and won't make any allowances for where you are braking. I haven't found it as bad up the front. I suspect R3 is probably a bit worse what with the cars being quicker, although I expect R2 and R1 takes the prize for the highest number of poor drivers.

R3 is about the highest I'd be interested in racing anyway as it's the last point at which what you are driving actually looks like a car. Even then it can be a bit arcadey with their incredibly powerful brakes.

No, he was just supposedly "clocked" at that speed.

I shall quote from the Gumball movie.

"Oi we blew up the speedometer in this thing, yeah 237, 238 then BAM, and the speedometer broke. We thought we were doing 240 I swear and then we came and we saw a police officer come look at us, so we slam on the brakes - heh heh, he done us for 127". - Arthur Chirkinian.

"See this tank engine light - that came on after 240mph for about 15 minutes. I think we blew a fuse of something - the car can't handle it". - Arthur Chirkinian.

Forgive the poor english - it was not on my part, the guy talks like a chav.

I should also point out that it wasn't actually a CC8s, but a prototype, as Arthur ordered a CCR of the race, and they didn't finish it, so he demanded they give him the keys to a prototype.

I still have not come to a conclusion about this game. On one hand it is very GT like, and on the other it is very different. What really bugs me is the menus I guess. They are very dull and boring, with check marks all over the place, making the game feel more like a chore... The racing, on medium atleast, is as in GT - once you go past the competition, it's just you and the road. Problem is I got used to the 16 cars on track in GT5P. I drive with the controller, and this game is easy as they come, even with all aids off (ofcourse against the AI it doesn't count as easy, should be trying online to actually test my skill).

All in all, it is a very good game, but aside the livery editor, it has nothing exciting in it, nothing that made me go wow as GT games did in the past (up to a point of course).
Good game, but doesn't come near the vicinity of definitive I think.

I'm not sure. I thought it was just someone who decided to get his money's worth.

It was indeed a CCR during the gumball rally. He apparently wasn't clocked at that speed though and just claimed he was.

How is the La Sarthe track in FM3, is it good or did they manage to make a muck out of it like the Ring? It's not as complex a track as the Ring, but is it as good as GT's, or better?

there isn't much point in blu ray its just another expense.
they should improve normal CDs or make one as good as blu ray but read able
by everything.

Did someone just turn over two pages at once when I wasn't looking?

Forza's Ring was discussed here:

Forza 3 Nurburgring

It's been made differently to accommodate better online racing from my understanding.

It's still pretty narrow as it is. I haven't raced it online, but I'd imagine that unless you are trying to overtake someone willing to accommodate your maneuver, then you're both still going to end up facing the wrong way pretty quickly.

Well, I can't do anything that has to do with Live anymore. My console got banned. I have a legit copy, too :(

La Sarthe seems pretty damn spot on. Multiple professional racers have raced it and stated the same. They did a great job.
