I just ran out of 🤬 fuel 12 laps into the 17 of the Le Mans endurance...

Where the hell is the indicator for it? Am I expected to guess when it runs out?

I know one thing, I'm not doing it again.

Actually there's a very hard to see, light gray gauge on the right of the tachometer.

Also... you could've used rewind, yes? I mean... if you were under the impression that there was no gas gauge, and that's why you ran out, it's only fair.

No, you misunderstand...

I'm on the Mulsanne Straight, well, the sectioned off/chicane version when this happens. At first I thought it was just the tires as they were almost at 50% wear and I had to be mindful of my throttle points. Then the oil lamp lights up, and the power is cut off....

And despite what has been said, rewind actually is limited, you can only use it about 5 or 6 times.

I had no other impression of anything, other than the impression of when it happened.

Ouch, that sucks. :(

But hopefully you can find the fuel gauge for next time. Also, if I recall correctly from when I did the 29 lap Suzuka enduro, the normally light gray fuel gauge turns yellow when it's low. đź‘Ť

It's like living in the Uk when you've got to make a choice.... do you let your family starve or buy fuel for another lap... both equally noble causes, both equally expensive.

Government advise is to buy fuel as it's far more lucrative from a tax stand-point.

Who knew Forza 3 could involve such ethical decisions?

It did turn yellow, again, on the Mulsanne Straight. I was screwed from the get-go it seems.

Uh....huh.

I assume you mean the "stock" R3 GT2, 'cause I found the storefront tuned #92 M3 GT2 (makes it 794 I believe) to be devishly fast :mischievous:. Well except for the ovals.

On the hard vs medium topic, IMHO tuning your car to the max PI for the given race pretty effectively neuters the CPU's advantage on hard. Although I must admit the CPU is pretty dang quick regardless in the stock A590 Z06. Even in an A600 car I've seen the Z06 fill up a little more of the rear view than I'd prefer ;)

Yeah, I just didn't feel like I needed to modify a GT2 race car to keep up with other GT2 cars. And I didn't like driving it with NO MoTeC display...WTH T10?

Racing against that A590 Z06, I was only able to beat him in turns and in braking. I switched cars through that championship, starting with an SL65 (which should be winning on the straights, not in braking and the curves) and then with a scary to drive Z4 M Coupe. It had a lot more pull on the straights though, but not usually enough to take the Z06 (except the oval, where it killed).

I would, if it's an endurance, just turn on the digital speedo. Has a huge fuel gauge.

W00t! Finally hit Level 50 w/ 1 race left to go in the R2 Championship. Shame, however, my time will be field with MW2 for a few weeks.

What happens in FM3 when you run out of fuel? Can you somehow get back to pits and get fuel to resume or is it race over?

Your race is over.

I appreciate the feature for all it's worth, I'm pissed that it pretty much came out of nowhere. Honestly, I'm more focused on trying to keep that damn CCGT from ending up over the barricade and then the fuel line is severed....

...The game has voiceover why not use it? :odd:

The Z06 on hard is annoyingly quick, I couldnt even beat it in a tuned Z06...I think I ended up using a combination of a tuned 8c and a tuned Impreza.

Generally though I think hard gets the nod from me, you have to work dam hard to get results. I just about won the R3 championship by 11 points on hard using the #62 F430 GT. The gap between myself and 2nd place on the Motegi race (7 or 8 laps) was 0.009 just to show how close it was in some races.

They've added more classes in multiplayer. Circuit racing goes down to D class, drag is split between Awd & Rwd S class, and in drift you can choose only Rwd.

Level 45!!!

5 more to go, and three more seasons to go...and I'm willing to bet I'm nowhere near even 22%. :odd:

I'm at level 45 too, sooo close to getting to 50. I haven't enjoyed the 5th season as much as I did the earlier ones though

Man this career mode is freaking long. I am 100% confident that I will not complete 75% of this game. Is the game 25% complete after season 6?!!

Depends on if you only do season mode, or if you ever hand-pick events to participate in. I'm in season 4 and am level 45 at 19.8% completion.

Anyone know how to recover your gamer tag? I've got an account with the Forza 3 site but everytime I click on "get your gamercard" it takes me to a sign up to Live page. I don't want to sign up to live again I've already signed up to live. What I need to do is find a way to attach my existing gamer tag to my account but I can't for the life of me do it. When i type in my gamer tag it just tells me it's already in use. When I click on "I already have my gamercard" it just does nothing. To the best of my knowledge I haven't used my gamer tag on any websites before so I've not signed up to anything except Live through my XB360 but I can't use it to sign up to anything on the web through my PC.

The same thing happened to me a while ago, I can't remember exactly how I did it though. I do remember eventually getting to a part that let me put in my email address and password which let me in with the GT I wanted.

When I had issues, I emailed a-fredh@microsoft.com who is responsible for the Live ID and Turn 10 website integration. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Bogie, I've sent him an email. Now I'm well into the career mode and I'm earning credits easy enough I've started tusing the livery editor and the photo mode a bit, but until I get this sorted I can upload any of my pics đź‘Ť.

Can't you just click on "sign-in" on fm.net and login with your password and email that you use on your xbox 360. After that just click "my forza" and your pics are there. I don't remember clicking on "get your gamercard"

No, my email on the 360 is the email on my Live account and that's the problem, even though I look at my account settings on the 360 and it tells me that my gamer tag is associated to that Live account, when I log into Live through my PC it doesn't seem to be finding my gamer tag and I can't for the life of me find an option to retrieve or locate my gamer tag so it's acting like I don't have a gamer tag. It appears to just be a technical error, but I've emailed a-fredh thanks to Bogie for proving the address and I hope to hear back soon.

I can't decide whether to buy an XBOX 360 + Forza or just wait until GT5 comes out...

It just seems like a waste of money to me,(I mean buying a new console just for one game) but this game just sounds too awesome. I don't think I can hold back!

That is a tough call. You'd have to at least get the MS FFB wheel too, and I'm aware that the currency there is kind of weak, so "jumping in" just for Forza 3 would be pricey. You'd better try it first, find a friend with a wheel controller. F3 physics are close to GT physics, but different enough that some people just do NOT like it.

My experience with Live was as bad as Dave's. I managed to get it sorted in a round about way, by signing into MSN Live, since all MS accounts like Hotmail use a unified ID system now. Then went to XBox Live and clicked the link to the Forza site. But I have a feeling Dave tried something like that, and it did take a few tries to get it to recognize me. It didn't used to be this messed up! Microsoft, gah... they frook up almost everything they touch. Looks like that Live ID help guy is the best fix.

Random observation; after using the hired driver to run several of the endurance races for me I noticed that tire wear does NOT seem to factor much into gameplay this time around. The pit I closely followed was either for the R1 or R2 endurance and the AI pit was clearly only triggered by fuel as the tire wear was like only 24% front and 26% rear. I mean that's nothing. I remember in F2 the rears on a R1 car would be near solid red, or orange for the AI driver, when it came time to pit. Guess I'll need to try an endo on my at some point and compare, but just with this data it seems clear they tweaked something in the code regarding tire life.

Edit....
Another data point, right now I'm watching the AI racing a D350 Clio-V6 around Motegi and after 26 laps the tire wear is 18.3% F/22.1% R. According to wiki TR Motegi is 2.98 miles per lap so that's 77.5 miles of racing and barely 1/5 of the tire has scrubbed off. Maybe I'm wrong headed here but this seems pretty inaccurate to me.
