I think that Turn 10's comments are just reinforcing cultural stereotypes. The brash, arrogant americans being loud and obnoxious while the japanese remain quiet and study the competition...

Not according to Kaz from the interview with edmunds.

IL: Are you concerned about Forza 3 beating GT5 to market?

Yamauchi: I don't really know that much about the other games that are out.

I only do it when you guys speak negatively of the Gran Turismo series. In general. I mean, it's okay for you guys to do it, but not us? Mighty one sided thinking, much. ;)

I don't believe Joey or I were speaking negatively of GT at all, but more to the point, that we are excited for both to debut, as we will likely be spending the $60 on each either way. We have, however, expressed some skepticism over promises and current trends with both titles, which I suppose could be taken as a negative, but they are otherwise legitimate critiques.

As for the rest of them... Hooey.

As Joey said, if Turn 10 wants to crank up the heat with some "shock and awe" rhetoric - let them. If you guys aren't buying FM3, why does it really matter? They are pandering to their base of players, and hoping to nick a few of them in the process by demonstrating what otherwise looks like a very good racing title... What will likely be the best racing title available... Until GT5 shows up.

Oh well. Guess I can't have people just take both for what they are, great racing titles on separate platforms that ultimately end up catering to (apparently) "different" people.

Post of the thread.

Also, at least T10 has PR unlike Sony and PD.

I know you think Prologue is a pretty big letdown to you and Ferrari Challenge is some sort of god game, but you're in a pretty small minority. You should really love Forza 3 because FC is basically Forza 2 on the PS3.

Honestly, Tenacious. Do you have to totally misrepresent my position?

I believe FC is an underrated game, but it is far from being a "god game" - on the contrary it has some serious flaws, as I have pointed out. Its major strong point, compared to GT5P, is that it has a lot of tracks to race on. That of course, will be different with GT5. In the meantime, a lot of GTPers, unlike yourself, do not have a 360/Forza 2 & therefore would (presumably) enjoy racing on a bunch of different tracks from what is available with Prologue. The"god game" in the equation is undoubtedly GT, which is treated by many people here like some kind of sacred rite, rather than a video game.

When Dan G talks suggests that the GT series is "old school" & has stopped evolving, I would say, based on a FM1/GT4 comparison, that would be true. Based on a FM2/GT5P comparison, I would say it's also true. GT5P still seems mostly focused on great graphics (although admittedly the physics are much improved over GT4). Like everyone else here (especially those who, like me DON'T have a 360), I am really hoping that PD comes up with the goods for GT5 & blows FM 3 out of the water - but that still remains to be seen....

I still do not see the major difference between the car models of GT5p and FM 3 are, which as I said earlier makes sense given that both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are closely matched in terms of hardware.

Im sorry that this was an older quote but i was reading through and when i read this i laughed a little. after all of the comparisons between the two consoles it makes me chuckle when 360 fanboy still say that it has the same power as the PS3. I have both consoles and guess what? PS3 has the better graphics due to its CELL processor and BLURAY player. Now get over it.
Now to get back on topic...
I am thrilled about Forza 3 as i dont really have a good racing game for my 360 yet so i will deffinately get it. I still dont believe it will be anywhere near the level of perfection GT5 will be at but its better than nothing. there is just not enough space on a DVD for all of the detail required to be on par with GT5. i am eagerly awaiting both titles so i can give an actual UNBIASED review of them. Cheers from a fellow :gtplanet: Member :gtpflag:

Thats why Forza 3 will come on 2 discs, one you install to the hard drive with much content and the other to play the game ;)

Also a PS3 vs Xbox 360 hardware pissing contest never ends well :P Isn't it basically the PS3 has bluray and a better CPU, but the Xbox 360 has a slightly better GPU as far as shaders and antialiasing is concerned (I remember someone saying the GPU has a separate chip capable of doing AA without any performance loss, its just most games dont take advantage of it).

^^ Theres still two DVDs instead of one BluRay :P
the slight advantage in the GPU is still not enough to match the cell processor :P this could go on forever and ever so im goin back to the game :) Forza may LOOK really good (about as good as GT5P) but the physics are ALL WRONG. Have you seen the stunt video??? its ridiculous that they are still trying to call it a "definitive sim racer"

YSSMAN hit the nail on the head with his last post. + Invisi Rep for that.

It's one thing that annoys me about the 360's, they weren't far-sighted enough to think games would get bigger. This isn't a problem for those with the 360's with the massive hard drives, but those of us (like me) who have the older 360's with the smaller hard drives means I will have to delete things to install the game. Lame.

I still think there is a matter of confirming this to have been made with gameplay footage or CGI. I'm fairly certain it's CGI, mainly because it would be damn near impossible for someone to driver like that in a game. Way to much timing needed. I really think we should save the physics discussion till we can actually play the game.

yeah I was like "it's CG for sure" but then i heard some FM3 people say that it was made from ingame recordings... they must have been mistaken and just talking out of their asses.

or i missunderstood them.

How hard is to buy new hard drives (I mean this honestly and not sarcastically :P) Because for PCs at the moment you can buy almost a 1TB drive for not much more than the price of a new release game. (here in Australia new game = $100 and 1TB drive = $125). 500gb ones are dirt cheap, not much more than $70.

Can you use PC drives in an xbox 360? Or do MS make ones that aren't absurdly expensive?

The hard drives are proprietary to MS which is lame, you get a choice of 20GB, 60GB or 120GB I believe. It's not hard to swap the drives, it's hard to back everything up though. I have my 20GB hard drive almost full and no way I know of to back it up. I need to get a 120GB though. And yes like any thing with the MS logo on it they are absurdly expensive. The 120GB retails for $150 or something.

I wish they would have used standard PC drives like the PS3, would have made life so much easier.

isn't there a way to use normal hdd via running some sort of program on a 20 or 120gig hdd from western digital? I was thinking of buying a 360 w/ a 20gig, and if I needed more, just buy the proper western digital model.

You can't connect the 360 hdd to your pc and back iit up?

Normal external hard don't work with the xbox 360, you have to buy ones designed to work with the console, unfortunately they are considerably overpriced.

When I upgraded I got a pre-owned 64mb memory card for £10 and backed up my game saves, then just downloaded all the dlc and Xbox originals I had again 👍

Anyone knows how the 2 DVDs will play?
One DVD to Install the other DVD to play?

Any confirmed day and night cycles?

You have to use an xbox hard drive. EBGames wants 190 for a USED 120gb. Oddly they don't even list being able to get a new hard drive. Maybe you can't upgrade anymore?

what's sad is that was a demo done by actual Forza Employees. He crashed full on into another car and did almost no damage. engine ran fine too... Really?! that was complete garbage. what kind of lame damage is that?

There has always been different levels of damage in Forza, off, cosmetic, and full. Also like I've been saying, unless you've actually played the full game I don't think you can really comment on how good or bad the damage is going to be. Yes from pre-production videos it looks a bit off, but the game still has many months before it hits store shelves. A lot can happen between now and then.

For all we know GT5's damage could be horrid too, but it could be great. We don't know.

This thread is entertaining considering how many assumptions about both GT5 and Forza 3 are being thrown around. Many of you are talking like it's a fact GT5 will be better. It might very well be, then again it might not.

At least it has damage on more than race cars. Also Forza may be like bumper cars, but so far GT is bumber cars.
Really? B/c last I checked, cars did not roll over with their windows & windshields fully intact....

And if the damage is anything like Forza 2's, then no thanks. That wasn't particularly a great example of how damaged worked in that game.

They are not making excuses for themselves. he is talking as if the damage is impressive during the demonstration. So that is why I responded that way. I really do hope that it improves tremendously before release, because the damage I've seen sofar is subpar.

The damage looks exactly the same as Forza 2 to me. But I'm really not concerned about damage, my races very rarely feature large accidents anyway.

yeah me too^. unless your trying to master that turn you always get passed by...it matters a little bit..

I only really play the game casually so things like that don't bother me!

if there's damage, we wont see wall riding :P i want suspension damage, engine damage, drivetrain/gearbox damage etc. Early downshifts, over revving etc, should be punished.

They were in FM2 so I don't see why they wouldn't be for this version. Watching people shift down too early and damaging their gearbox in FM2 was always good fun :D

This is Turn10's vision on damage: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-forza-motorsport/50496?type=flv @2:00

looks more like bumpercars to me :D

Yes exactly, at least it has something to keep you out of the race.

But from that video it's not a good looking game with LIGHTNING, look when the car is facing the sun, there are still shadow and dark car on the SUN SIDE, as well when he accelerates, and turns, its too arcade! You can just look and say its not a true sim.

Also the REWIND features is SLAP IN FACE. Whats point of damage now? You will get perfect results on every turn, on every race.. No more damage is needed.!!! SLAP IN THE FACE!

I may have missed it, but has anyone seen any real damage yet in any screens or videos?

I don't count that stunt video as proof considering that not only where its physics obviously not in-game, but that crash actually imploded the windows & front end on the Ford. The R8 roll over did not....

I hope they keep the room set up simular.
These nooobs in the gt5 thread going on about having to pay for damage or not, they have no clue in terms of a private room.
