neogaf (recoil)
This bothers me:

I totally appreciate the attempt to take internal component modeling to new heights, but only if it's done right. Where the hell is all that light coming from inside the engine bay? It completely ruins the picture. Even if you have to artificially darken, do it dammit!

Compare to the most similar picture I can find on the internets:

The amount of light going into the engine bay, coupled with the complete lack of any modelling OTHER than the engine itself is just absolutely atrocious.

im starting to get sad w/ these model issues popping up on the F3 thread on neogaf.....

granted its not gonna stop me from buying and enjoying this game but im starting to think it was a bit foolish for T10 to jump out and claim this as the definitive racer when there seem to be issues like this. i just cant wait to mess around w/ the new livery editor.

So we are talking about the game, where oversteering cars understeer, braking or accelerating have zero effect on stability and only reduce or increase speed, donuts are impossible and spins are something from another galaxy?

Not too mention the worst AI I've seen in racing games, Polyphony was completely unaware that racing games usually have several AI difficulty settings, not just one for 10 years old. Also wrong car's rating, where AI with Clio V6 usually overcome AI with NSX and so on.

It would be good simulator in 1997, not later

I think debates about GT4 physics are not possible, cause GT4 didn't have any physics at all. In my opinion the game was pretty bad, no physics, no fun to drive, no AI, all cars drove same and so on.

Polyphony did a great job with Prologue. It's not perfect but is a giant step from barely playable GT4

While I am using your post as an example, this applies to a lot of members posting in this thread.

Stop it with the flame bait now.

Quite frankly this thread will go the way of the rest if it simply ends up the same as a lot of other Forza threads, if this gets dragged down to a flaming match then the thread will get locked and people will end up with infraction.

Now Otago you don't rate GT4, we get that, however talking utter nonsense (no physics at all!!!!) does not help things at all. If you want to debate the difference between the physics in GT4 and Forza and/or GT5:P and FM2 then first find the correct threads and then do so in a reasoned and intellegent manner.

The same applies to anyone else who has now believes this thread is another FM Vs GT battleground.

It isn't, its a thread for news, information and discussion on FM3, and quite frankly its more than possiable to discuss the pros and cons of that without endless comparions to GT and other racing titles.

That's what I always do!

Nothing, and I do mean nothing about the statement that GT4 has no physics at all is either reasoned or intellegent.

It will result in one thing, and one thing only, and that's to cause a pointless, off-topic flame war.

Do not mistake my post for a request, it isn't, and should you (or anyone else) feel like testing that, then please do. However I do warn in advance that the result will be infractions.

This pointless, off-topic and unconstructive bickering will end now.

"infractions", not sure what the meaning is. Something like this?

original.jpg

Better come back on topic I guess.

The AUP here at GT Planet is enforced using infractions, breaking the AUP gets you an infraction. They carry points, get to many points and you get banned.

That's what I mean by infractions.

still dont know whats going on w/ those tail lights and the rear mesh appears to be silver instead of black.....weird....

hmmm, Textures again for the grills, Thats a shame I was hoping that this time they would try and model the cars using proper components oh well...

I'm sure it's been brought up before in this topic, but I was catching the turn10 interview over at ign (link)

I don't know how forza 3 or gran turismo 5 are going to turn out, though I certainly know which one I'm getting because of my system/wheel choice. but damn, good on turn10 for taking care of its fans with interviews like this. Tons of questions, direct answers, topics not limited to subjects nobody really cares about. That's how it's done, that's good PR, and that's how excitement is generated when you have a product you're proud of. I know I'm looking forward to seeing how forza3 turns out. (just not planning on dropping $700 for system/wheel/game to play it)

it's a shame I have to wait so long to figure out if PD has been bluffing or guarding a decent hand. With Forza, I know what's coming, and it looks pretty decent.

True enough on both accounts (Reap and Joey) the rear end of the F50 looks quite exceptional, but it's those minor gnats of imperfection that possibly dilute an otherwise very good model.

Eh I'll look past minor things missing because in the end I don't really care, if it's 98% of the way there I'm not going to really complain.

I'm not defending the modelling errors, they are there, and it's up to the individual how much it 'bothers' them..

This shot though..

The sky is washed out, which suggests the brightness and/or the exposure are turned up, which is going to make the image low contrast and very unnaturally lit.
I'd say there is a chance that in-game with the normal lighting levels the components behind the grilles will be much darker (although I doubt as dark as they should be).

Clearly you need quite bright lighting before you can see this type of thing in real life.

Although the model detail is very low behind the grille, they aren't just textures, you can see the perspective change between shots, they are just very low detail models.. when the lighting is as dark as in-game, I hope they look much more subdued to the point it's satisfactory.

It's clear to me that with the time they've had T10 have not put all the effort into just the car models/lighting, it's a trait of theirs, they clearly spend as much time on Physics/Gameplay/Community/Online, I think it's going to be a very balanced game with overall high production values.. if they hit 95% in all aspects of the game, it will be truly excellent..

I couldn't see any inaccuracies in this model.
:P

Don't forget on the F40 that a lot of light can enter through the vents and tailgate. But FM3 doesn't seem to have the best lighting system so I think we're asking for too much for every angle to look photo realistic.

I think T10 could select their pics better as you can make any game look bad and they seem brightened up, and red just doesn't look good in the pics so far. There's lots of great pics with fairly close models and there's a lot of game for 60 dollars. Modeling is inconsistent (puzzling at times) but FM3 has a lot of strengths, concessions are made, outsourcing.

Is it like 458 Italia will be DLC this Holiday? You can't get complete game nowdays

O....M....G !!!! that was the greatest promtional video ever created period .:bowdown:👍

I was dreaming they would add the 458 Italia , this confirmation has made the wait for FM3 pure torture, i pulling my hair out over here just waiting to get my hands on all those Ferrari's & Lambo's.

Anyone one the forum who's still on the fence about the Forza series has to watch this video.... http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/forzamotorsport3/video/6228749

Ferrari 458 Italia = SOLD

I always was a Gran Tursimo fan, but it looks like this game has all I wish for.

The only thing it's missing are the weather effects. Hope GT5 has them, otherwise wait for Forza 4.

In the meantime I will be having much fun with Forza 3 fur sure!

God damnit it's like when I found out Bruce Willis was dead at the end of sixth sense.

Not very keen on knowing that cars are already done & awaiting a DLC release when the game was just given Gold status a little over a week ago. Seems very EA-ish. :indiff:

Addition of the 458 is great and then there's the 250 Testa Rossa that I had no idea was in the game

Wow!

Ferrari could have even insisted that the 458 Italia be DLC aswell as seperate promotion for the car, Ferrari have a stronger hand in this relationship imo they could put strings attached to featuring certain cars....you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours.

Ferrari has to want something in return and it looks like T10 are playing ball, a week long ferrari reveal and now a high quality well produced video show casing Ferrari's brand new baby.....It looks like T10 have been busy beavers developing their relationship with certain manufacturers most notably Audi, Ferrari, and Mclaren.

[edit]BTW did you guys notice the tire flex on the 458 as it powered into that corner midway through the vid, its one of those things i always look out for now when watching the vids.
