I am still in conflict with myself about this decision. I don't know if I will go through with it, as I am an idealist, and I stated before my problem with T10's and MS's way of thinking and acting. I am now in the process of finding a good enough excuse so that I can say I am buying this without supporting them.

One such way is getting a used copy and a used console, but that can be tricky (the console part). I am in a pickle, so it would seem...

Also, the FM3 demo is very good. Make sure you guys check your game defaults settings in your XBOX360 dashboard. There are low, medium and high sensitivity settings for the controller. Changing those can have a big impact, make sure you have the setting that suits your driving and your eye to hand coordination best.

I had no idea about that, either I got better or changing it to most sensitive made steering better. Thanks! 👍 :)

You're welcome.:) And check out the DIRT 2 demo when you get a chance. It's bit too flashy for me but the driving, damage and replays are out of this world! It has to be the best graphical engine at the moment. And apparently a Codemasters developer was saying that GRID 2 will use an even better engine than DIRT 2 as they've already made lots of improvements to it. Hardly realistic games but for for a bit.

People keep mentioning NFSShift, not a bad game, better damage than FM3 and GT5 (so far), but the career structure is flawed, few cars, and not being able to save replays is really bad.

From common opinion EA cut physics to make game more "accessible". The car starts bouncing at limit but stay on track and under control whatever you do. So save you money, another ruined by EA potentially interested game

I'm just doing things around the house and I got the Ferrari California on the car showcase menu, just looping. Wow, just wow! Thing of beauty. If only I could see a grid of 10 cars in that LOD running in 1080p. I'd be one happy bunny. Not going to happen on the current generation XBOX though. My Elite would catch fire if it tried to process that.

Where exactly do you do this? as I can't see an option anywhere in the dashboard.

Nevermind: found it.

Just one thing. I tried crashing in Shift and the way it affected car handling was absolutely minimal. Perfomance damage in forza is done much better.

I tried the demo, in fact the GFX are very impressive, and the water effects while incar were WOW. But I still prefer the gran turismo style graphics, might be less flashy, but more realistic and impressive as a result to me. :). Plus I don't like one thing about Dirt 2, it's not enough about classic point to point rallies according to the reviews. :(

I've only seen some videos, no demo for Shift so I haven't actually tried it, might get the PC demo just to see how it is. I did see see in the videos big damage and the car easily driving away from it. That does not happen if FM3 so I agree with you.

That's exactly what the problem is with DIRT 2 and GRID, too flashy and over the top. If only that amazing game engine was put to good use in a game like FM or GT it would be one sweet driving game. Last time I remember decent games from Codemasters were the good old Colin McRae days. On that subject the man was a legend and will always be remembered, RIP.

Hey guys, what i read demo is great. Once concern.. On any turn when 2 or even 1 wheel ends up on grass on dirt, does the car spin out easily like in GT5P? or is it still as easy as FM2?

HAHAH Never mind, I see the video above!!! Awesome!!!!!!!! but car was all 4 wheels on grass and drit , what happens with only 2?
Man now GT5 says will have the rollover as well, I bet they play some FM3 before chaning their minds hahah, I wish it will be just as easy or even better to flip!!

Grr, no demo for silver....... Hmm never liked this new , "either you are in or you are out" membership.....

That what sucks the most... Whats the point of SILVER then ehh?? Just save up for thoese 1 year membership cards.. I hate damn Microsoft..

Wikipedia
The demo for the game was released to the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 24, 2009 as an Xbox Live Gold Member exclusive. It will be available to those with silver membership one week later.

You would be... right?

BTW, I like that video. 👍

Hehe, cool video.

Just great to see so many different things happening, so many random crashes, pileups, spinouts and wipeouts. This is on a demo with just 4 cars, 1 track and no online. Just imagine how many fantastic things could happen in the full game, and how many edited super cool videos will hit YouTube. I'm just so looking forward to this game. :)

In that video the car shouldn't have flipped in grass like that unless it hit a rut/ditch where the rims dig in to the dirt. This rollover looks like it was caused by grippy/sticky grass.

I am 90% sure this wont happen in GT5 on grass but maybe in sand traps.

Then I don't know why the car rolled like that in the grass.

And I'd understand if it was a minivan or something but this is an Evo X... A car which I'm sure is near impossible to flip (as with most sports cars of this era) without solid contact.

I'm sure that if your going fast enough on grass it's possible to roll. Once you have the momentum and the wheels dig in it's easily done.

If the rims dig in or tyres fall into a rut/ditch at speed, then yes it will roll violently (as I said in my original post), but nothing in that video suggests that. Without a rut/ditch/mount of grass the tyres would have to roll (flex) so far plus a bump so the rim can contact the dirt, but on grass there simply isn't enough grip for tyres to flex that far.

Unless there is something in the grass we can't see.

Hmmm.... I didn't see a Race Pro demo, I'll have to go back to the marketplace for that.

I will have to say that the graphics and driving are both growing on me. The replays are looking more real more of the time, and the scenery is looking less like styrofoam. And those race cars are purdy! I can see that I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the livery shop creating race cars. Now, if only T10 will have lifted the stupid garage and replay limit in the final game...

By the way, I have to head to the Forza forums and complain about those truck tires. Really getting on my nerves. At least the rewind banner is relocated to the bottom of the screen. Still don't like it.

I was a little disappointed graphically when I first played the demo, and thought the handling was just like FM2..

But as you have said, it seems to grow on you and get better and better, I think the main thing is I play in bumpercam, and the scenery/track detail is just astonishing, the physics (with the MS Wheel) when hotplapping reasonable times seem to react quite well indeed, the weight transfer under acceleration/braking and track geometry seems very accurate, although the force feedback is lacking in a couple of areas, notably when you bottom out etc, the feedback and suspension effects seem to be missing.

The rewind banner and indeed lots of the HUD items can be turned off in the pause menu, so you can get rid of all the rubbish (which is necessary), and I've found if you download a Ghost car to hotlap against, if you press the left D-Pad button and go into drift scoring view, your additional (and confusing) extra Ghost car then disappears leaving just you and the original ghost you downloaded..

Considering it'll have 115+ track variations with at least 20 tracks, and 10 cars per month promised plus extra tracks as DLC in the first 12 months, despite the graphical car model shortcomings, it's shaping up to be one of the best racers yet, and I'm sure it can be consider a reasonable rival to GT5, I really cannot wait until this comes out and then play it death until March 2010, then play GT5 for another 6 months.. I applaud PD for delaying, as it means less over-lap and more time with 2 great games..
