Once the FM3 section opens on this site, we will need to have a livery thread under it. Holy smokes these things are going to be INSANE in the MEMBRANE. Thanks Psychotext.

:dopey: you better not be lying...
I can't confirm for all the cars, but the option was there for the Reventon after Jube was awarded it for hitting....
Level 25 or 26
On that subject, this is possible for the Gallardo.

Yes, you can change to LP640 engine, you can change to RWD and you can add Supercharger, Twin-Supercharger, Twin-Screew Supercharger and Centrifugal Supercharger.

I wonder if we'll have a luxury of livery elements, like decals, vinyl shapes, text fonts and national flags. In FM2, you could get pretty detailed and able to create some liveries pretty close to the in-game liveries, though you had to create quite a few decals yourself. Are you able to apply stuff to window areas this time?

I suppose it comes as no surprise that the thing I really want F3 for is to paint me up some rides. But PLEASE, T10, no bugs, please... :P

The decals is one area I have yet to see a video of, but would expect similar to FM2, would hope that in addition to the manufacturer decals, they would also include sponsorship decals typically found on windshield banners or on side panels on race cars (since they have already made them). Light & dark manufacture decals to work with the different color of cars. I will probably find myself spending half the time making race liverys. :)

I seem to recall that, this time around, there will be a "paintbrush" tool to use with the livery editor in FM3. But, based on this video...

...Probably not.

BUT! I was unaware of the freeform vinyl group editor. That will help out when trying to recreate some old shapes I have on some of my FM2 cars.

I wonder if I could send a picture of my son to someone (or my wife) so I could put them on my car. There is no way I could do it :(

There are plenty of skilled artists on FM.net, just start a Request thread with said photo, im sure there will be someone willing to do the work for you......might help to sweeten the deal with a few credits though ;) ( keep in mind some people only play Forza for the painting)

I initially got help with some difficult decals when i first started painting, i was surprized that so many people were willing to help me out for free, sry i cant do photos, that **** takes a ton of skill.

I just read something really cool. Apparently it's possible to place the RS200 engine in the Ford Fiesta and change the drive train to awd. I've also heard that the RS200 engine can be placed in the Focus RS.

It is indeed possible. Video here! Actually, because engine and drivetrain swaps are now seperated, it seems you can drop the RS200 engine in, and then choose between Front, Rear or All Wheel Drive! Interesting stuff starts at 2:20 in that video.

Also, the Focus RS can be turned into an R3 beast with a 800hp Ford Cammer V8. See here! Interestingly, there is also another engine swap option for the Focus, but the video doesn't show it.

I am looking forward to making some absolutely mental Ford hot hatches.

:D And that will be the first thing I do as soon as I get enough money.

I might find myself spending most of my time in the paintshop. And not always for the right reasons...

Looking at the painting videos, it looks like the very same vinyls from FM2, and since they haven't shown any manufacturer's decals, I'm afraid they might not have added to that either. More vinyls, decals and alternates for the "definitive" sequel should be a no brainer. There are some vinyls in FM1 which really should have made it over, which indicates to me they left this aspect up to us to flesh out. They even have the same silly text fonts. I don't want to have to make my own darn fonts!

Of course, this might explain why there's a whole section in the new online store for user created layers...

Gee whiz... how many copies of F2 did M$ say they sold, and with DLC you had to buy on top of that?? There had better be some goodies in this area for us painters, or I'm not going to be content. It's nice to be able to make our own decals, but I don't want to spend a bunch of time or credits on that because they cheaped out and left us with the same basic stuff to paint up cars with. It's kind of a drag that I still don't want to recreate some of my FM1 rides because missing vinyls make some things a lot harder to redo in a game supposedly better in every way.

Oh well... Microsoft... and I can't even get into the dang website to ask for a vinyl/decal DLC pack or two because of their idiotic website security! Gah... are they going to frook up Win7 too?

What shapes could you possibly continue to ask for? I think it's proof enough that anything is possible with the shapes given with the right artist, and that no one is going to say, "Yeah, the Iron Man car would look a lot better if it had 'Shape X' or 'Shape Y'."

Cheaped out? Maybe for you if you're too lazy to paint the artwork yourself, but I think they did everything right again with the Livery Editor. The only thing it really needed was an open palette, and look, we got one with the new grid system to make everything a lot easier.

You don't even have to buy a full car anymore if you want a livery from someone else. If someone has a livery you want, you pay for the livery & apply it your own car. No more shelling out $500,000 for a racing livery that includes the price of the car.

It depends on whether you've ever created a decal or font in Forza 2, or a livery, or you bought everything. When you have to create a ton of your own content - which I had to do - and then have to constantly repair them in F2 because vinyls will randomly shift around, it becomes a much bigger deal. I can understand MS not spending a million bucks or whatever to have 10,000 logo licenses, but once again, decals are missing from F2 that were in FM1, and some of those are a bear to recreate. Evidently so much so that I hardly ever see them, except on my car.

I got the urge to paint up some more rides in F2 while I wait for 3 to ship, and there's a certain Ferrari F40 livery I want to recreate, and there's not one single stock F2 decal on it. I'm making everything from scratch but a few I have in my decal bin and the number. And of course, racing with it outside of a quick photoshoot is out of the question because Forza will muck it up. It will just in one race for the photoshoot.

Maybe F3 will be bullet proof, maybe decal makers will flood the store front with affordable logos and emblems... eh, it could happen...

Just so everyone knows, this thread has now been moved into the dedicated Forza 3 forum so you guys will have a lot more room to move around. :)

They say they fixed the layer shift, I'm hoping they're right. Numerous people with early copies say they haven't seen it occuring, so fingers crossed. As for affordable logos, I hope so too. I will have my CAT and Stegbar logos up as soon as I can, but that's about the limit of my artistic talent.
PS. Thanks Jordan.

is this hecka coming out on the 23rd? hecka epic hmmery

didnt play the demo because i dont have gold and I stopped using my xbox when i got bored of fm2.

but saying that if i enjoyed fm2 would I like fm3???????????

Has anyone else noticed how amazingly well it depicts elevation change, specifically on Nurburgring? It's amazing, unlike any other game with this track, a whole new experience!

And how amazingly well it depicts the mountainous rumble strips? :scared:

People will start arguing about the width of it and other (in)accuracies, but it seems like most games are doing a much better job of making the place feel like the elevation changes than GT4 did, despite most people agreeing that its the most accurate version of the track yet.
