@Im_Lukas tune, found a ghost around the target time, and had a 1:39.0xx after 10 laps. The Wraith requires a unique approach, certainly, but this isn't impossible. I'd like to think they'll stop him from continuing to improve though, since that time is already at the top of the boards.
Those that complain that it was a "waste of modelling" or things along those lines, have you leveled the same criticism at other games in the genre that required a certain level of skill - not simply credits - to gain access to a car? I mean, the PS2 GT games were rife with the same basic setup.
Besides, we don't know what other ways the Aston, or the Ferrari for that matter, will be accessible in the future.
