Forza Motorsport 6 February Community Bounty

So you going to either be in the top 15 in the world or win the lottery to get this car? What ****ing ****.
This practice needs to stop. Its benefits no one. T10 modelers effort wasted, the game's biggest drawbacks, customers pissed off, online got an elitism going on, etc.

Exactly, I've got to somehow shave 6 seconds off my time(which I grinded for 30 minutes to get), using a car I don't like, on a track I don't like, to get a car I really want.

The Ferrari last month was so easy to get too, this one is ridiculously hard.

I certainly won't be getting the car as bounty, I'm not going to be anywhere quick enough :(

Here's hoping the Aston Martin becomes available by other means along the road somewhere

@Gotbeefboy564

No, you have to beat RBW Triton's time and he's in the '39's at the moment

Would prefer it just came in a Car Pack.

Since these unicorn cars are free, why not just continue the monthly tradition of giving all players a free car they can redeem and buy in as many numbers they want? I don't see what anyone gains from this current strategy, whereas everybody won the other way around. It might be possible that Turn 10 gains useful data by generating traffic on particular events but that's their headache, not mine. I think they should use events like this one to gift out existing cars with special liveries. Nothing essential but still motivating enough for players to give it a go.

I don't know whether I could beat the time to get this car, but I'm not going try. The community can send a proper anti-unicorn message by ignoring it.

I, for one, love the idea of the unicorns. It gives a fresh challenge, and if I don't get it? Well, I just wasn't fast enough and there are over 500 other cars to drive.

Best time so far was 1:46.377 with automatic after 6 laps... Might try again with my own tune... But... Checked the leaderboards for B class... 4 seconds from the top time already with 4 weeks to go...

I think around 200 tops will have access to the AM by the end at best.

1:39.2 or something like that is where I'm at now. That's in the top 10 for Asia-Pacific (yipee).
I'm not much for rivals, so if he goes any quicker then the 1:39.5 he is at now, I won't bother. Not enough talent on my end to beat him lol.

I like the idea of the 'semi-unicorn' sort of thing, where it adds a little event to earn the car early, but in the long run (say a month or two later) they become available for purchase for those who didn't the freebie (and those who did).
Adds a little extra challenge to the game for some, whilst not taking anything away from others.

But if it's just a plain unicorn, I don't like it.

Just did my first run- 1:42.6 with the default setup and a really shoddy lap. I caught the grass with my left side and nearly spun and missed the apex near the end of the lap my about 18 miles. Pretty good challenge, and the Rolls is surprisingly good as well.

After an hour of work, I was able to muster a mid-1:43. I'm not going to find another four seconds. I won't say it's an impossible task, since there are approximately 60 people in the world ahead of the target time, but it's not a challenge I can overcome.

This bounty challenge hasn't generated any excitement on my part. Just frustration.

I grabbed @Im_Lukas tune, found a ghost around the target time, and had a 1:39.0xx after 10 laps. The Wraith requires a unique approach, certainly, but this isn't impossible. I'd like to think they'll stop him from continuing to improve though, since that time is already at the top of the boards.

Those that complain that it was a "waste of modelling" or things along those lines, have you leveled the same criticism at other games in the genre that required a certain level of skill - not simply credits - to gain access to a car? I mean, the PS2 GT games were rife with the same basic setup.

Besides, we don't know what other ways the Aston, or the Ferrari for that matter, will be accessible in the future.

I threw together an untested tune with the car, and drove a handful of laps before I got off last night and managed a 1:40ish. The car doesn't seem to lose itself as easy as I figured it would, but it's just so odd getting it around turns.

Difference is that said events on the PS2 days are not time limited.

Its ok if its, say, a special "Team Forza" livery of the existing car. But the whole car altogether strikes the whole wrong kind of impression. But that's my opinion and probably the Ferrari and Aston would be available to purchase for all later..

Probably. Forza 4 didnt gave a second chance for unicorns, wasnt they? I hope T10 change their perspective after all those years.

If you're building a tune yourself, I'd recommend not upgrading the brakes. You'd think you'd want to given the size of the car, but there's only two spots you need to seriously slow down, so the stock ones work fine, leaving more PI for other things. That's how I built my tune, and Lukas' does the same.

The car likes a steady throttle in turns, helps it tuck in more.

I haven't tried me it since it posting my first time. I can't decide if it's better to try and beat it now,
Or wait until that last week when he can't put up a better time. I know it's probably better to get a time in now, but if I spent hours beating it now and got all excited, I would be pretty pissed if he posted something a couple seconds faster in a week. He said he would let this time stand for a week before putting a new one up. I think it's a cool idea, I think in a couple months there will be easier ways to get the car, and if not oh well.

T10 had weekly contest(photomode and painting cars, two seperate competitions) in which the prize was a set Unicorn, They also gave your choice of any unicorn if you won first for the Photomode's and the Livery contests as well . They also gave away Unicorns for just guessing correct DLC clues, or even just posting in the thread in general. Vip's would also randomly receive Unicorns as well through out it's life. Then there is the community bounty that was also another way to receive a Unicorn. There where plenty of ways, but still, I never cared for the method.

Still trying to find the best set-up for me. I could use different transmission types, but it takes so much PI.

@SlipZtrEm nice one, I've just been running some more against @Sutuki ghost and improved to a 1:37.980 but messed up 2 corners because I wasn't used to being ahead of his ghost so had no idea when to brake .

If there's some advice I can give to those who don't think they can catch Triton it's to find a ghost who is a bit faster than you and using the same assists, then watch what they do and compare where you're catching with where you're losing. If you're catching keep doing the same for now, if you're losing try to copy their line or even try some different approaches, even if you don't catch Triton by the end you'll have improved a lot and will be a lot closer for next time. Just running against Sutuki's ghost he gave me a better idea of how to take a couple of the corners in the forest section and now where I thought a 1:37.9 would be an almost perfect lap for me I can see enough time to reach a 1:37.7.

Even better if there's someone here or you know who's around your skill level and you can compete with, probably one of the best ways to push each other up the boards.

This only is this month, though. You nor I know if that will be the case moving forward.

I had duplicates of over half the unicorns in FM4. Not that I particularly care for the idea of them either, but as @ImaRobot mentioned, there were numerous ways to win them. Getting into a room with any T10 staff member pretty much guaranteed one. Community Bounties were a monthly thing, and while this one seems to align more with the Monotoya/ZR1 level of difficulty, I distinctly remember one bounty being set with a dirty lap. So literally all you had to do was post a clean lap, regardless of time, and you won.

To be honest, if it was simply a livery of an existing car, I wouldn't bother. The VIP gifts are almost always useless to me, because I've already got the car, and an overdone livery just isn't to my tastes. A unique car is far more likely to get me involved.

Well, several of you have seen how quick I'm not, so I'm already expecting to fail at this.

Will give it a try, though.

Even though I like this idea to beating a T10 member's time, I really dislike the idea of him updating his time which makes it more difficult to getting the Aston, especially if it took you hours or less to beat his time. The Wraith is just too heavy to drive thus I never bothered to continue trying... *Sighs* :\

That's quite a clever build mate, took me ages to work out how you were running the parts you had on the car without adding more weight with a roll cage. Couple of hundredths behind you but there's definitely more time to be had with your build.

To echo what slip said, if anyone is struggling with this event i'd give Im_lukas' build a go, the way he has the car set up means you can get the power down pretty quickly

Thank you and nice time there, if anyone here ever wants to know what build I'm running just feel free to ask and I'll either share it for download or post it, no need to spend time figuring it out ;). I reckon now with my driving that I can pull off a high 37.6 (currently 37.818) having raced with some of the ghosts around that area, but until I reach that point I don't know if I'll be able to get any further.

From what I've seen in replays it seems to be 50/50 on what gear to use for turn 2, there are plenty of guys using both 2nd and 3rd, but with my tune I was able to go quicker using 3rd. Actually I'm running 3rd gear for every corner apart from the fast turn at the end of the straight in the forest area where I use 4th.

Did a 1:43.375 earlier on the pad with a tune downloaded from one on the top guys.

The Wraith is still a complete 🤬 to drive. Might try a GTP tune again.

It would be awesome if you could post your set up. I've been running it to get my best times, but I feel like I could play with gear ratios to suit my driving style better. I drive a little different from you, I use 3rd for every corner and would like to shorten it a bit.

I also wish I could change the gear ratios around a bit, would definitely suit my style. I'm going to try coasting with 3rd gear and see how I fair with my tune, otherwise I'm going to rework it later.

Hate unicorns. Complete BS. Designed only for those who are super-duper drivers. Sorry guys, if you're not quick enough, you can't have them. Just hate the whole concept that so many of us who are car lovers aren't able to experience ALL the game has to offer.

The problem is I'm using default transmission so no adjustable gears, if you upgrade it to sport then you end up sacrificing around 10 PI which is a lot for the very small gains you make, and it's around 14 PI for the race transmission. I feel as if that PI is better spent on wider tyres or race suspension, it's the same story with race brakes, usually I would upgrade them but that costs around 7 PI and as @SlipZtrEm says there are only really 2 heavy braking areas so it's not worth it.

I'll post my setup anyway and you might find a way you can squeeze a transmission upgrade in there if you sacrifice some other parts, without any testing my guess would be remove 1 or 2 stages of front and rear tyre width OR downgrade to sport suspension and work it out from there.
