I was just trying to get back into the game, finish off the final forza cup series ect. But somewhere between when I lasted played and now something happened to the PC version, Don't know if it a windows update or game update but it is literally unplayable right now. I have a locked 60fps but then it will dip into 30-40 fps range and cause a lag spike before going back to normal. I'm sure its not my hardware since it's over the recommended for 60 fps and it did it even after I unlocked the framerate and was pulling 150fps. I put in a support ticket but i doubt it will get any attention.

What are you guys using for antivirus? I was having issues as well, but once I uninstalled AVG it was back to normal. Seems others have reported the same.

Many thanks @Northstar getting rid of AVG seems to have fixed the issue for me. I can finally play FM7 again, and with my new Fanatec DD1 wheel. Don't know about a Northstar but you are definitely a superstar!

WOW! I am using avast and I had seen the anti-virus thing mentioned before but hadn't seen anyone reference avast so didn't really chase it. Well I just got rid of it and I'm back to smooth 60FPS.:D I'm gonna run some laps then I will get the Kaspersky trial and see how it goes for me. thanks for the tip @Northstar 👍

Edit: One thing i'm not sure on is why forza horizon 4 wasn't effect by the issue? I know its different developers but I would imagine some stuff is shared between the games

Is your grid position pre determined by which car you choose? If I pick the Ford GT I'm about 7th or 8th or something like that, pick the BMW M8 it's always at the same place, BMW M6 at the same place. I bought the Porsche RSR GTLM and it always starts 20 something. In V8 Supercars the DJR Team Penske always starts 22nd. And you always pass the same cars in the same order unless they've gone off track somewhere.

Speaking of that Porsche RSR, what in the heck is wrong with that car? Of the 5 or 6 "GT" cars I've driven it's the worst of them by far. That thing skates around so bad.

Did you try 458 GTE? I've found that to be worst of the lot. Try out V12 Vantage GT3 too; Porsche RSR is quite tame by comparison.

I haven't got to any of the Ferrari's yet. Is the #62 458 GTLM any better? I did try the V12 Vantage to get that Forzathon bonus win a race in a British car and it got a little loose a few times but nowhere near as bad as that RSR. The two best GT's I've driven so far are the Ford GT and the BMW M6. Both are very stable and have good power.

I have found the only way to make a lot of the race cars act somewhat correct on corner entry is to just use stability control, and I don't like any assists.

Ford GT is my favorite, the Ferraris are the worst.
The RSR is quite good I've used it many times in career.

As we can't adjust FOV or seat position and my Ultrawide touches the back of my wheelbase, I'm now going through every car in the game to see which ones have the best FOV.
Winner so far is the old Ford F-100 and suprisingly kind of fun to drive.

Yeah I don't like using assists either if I can help it not because I think it makes me a better driver or makes the cars faster but because it affects payouts. The best option would be "authentic" so if the real car has it you can use it without any penalties or reduced payouts. But there again since it's "GT" or nothing, it is what it is.

The 2018 (2019?) Porsch 911 RSR need some setup to correct it's oversteer. If you're interested I can get my values.
For me Ferrari's 458 are more tame and can be driven without setup.

* I only use ABS assist, to traction or stability control

Yeah if you could do that I would appreciate it. The Porsche doesn't seem to have the power of the other stuff I've driven but that also might due to the way it's geared or something like that.

Also when I buy a car I get asked if I want to fit homologation parts to it or not which I've done. But I haven't paid attention to what that does to the overall PI rating. I think when I go into the garage or to buy a car like the GT's it says R831 for stock and R835 for race or something like that. But how do you go back and homologate the cars you were given when the game was purchased or is that even necessary?

Don't worry about it too much, as if you do a race within a division a pop up will give you the option to homologate your car, if it isn't.
You can have the game do it automatically or you can do it manually.
There's also the option to make a homologated car, stock. Which I use in Free Play to easily get one make races.
The homologation options are within tuning and upgrades.

Hi, here's m'y setup:
Antiroll bars
Front 16.96
Rear 7.87
Springs
Front 128.9
Rear 100.3
Rebound
Front 7.2
Rear 4.6
Bump
Front 5.2
Rear 2.9

Regarding power it's below the max, but removing the reductor on the engine only exeeds limit by one point.
Putting heavier rims or transmission bar should put you back in the limit

Unless you're into new IndyCar content, the new update is kinda crap.
  • Headlights aren't fixed as Forza Monthly promised they would be.
  • McLaren Senna light blue paint is now broken.
  • Finish line freeze lag is still not fixed three updates after this issue was introduced.
And that part in the stream about Forza's future was simply not worth people's time. The overall message seemed to be that they'll hopefully make a good product because they're caught up in making the best of feedback, team expansion and allocation management. Same old speech without substance. Not that I expected anything substantial from it, but really?

Yeah although chris esaki means well and hes trying to get his crew to make this a better game, everytime he's on the show I can always expect at least some redundant nonsense that we've heard before come from him.

In my opinion Chris Esaki is one of the People i trust the most for future Forza games... he seems like the right guy to do the Job, and could replace Dan Greenwald in the long run...

Two issues I have with the latest update:

1. How hard could it have been to add a base model Corvette ZR1 alongside the pace car, or at least to add the option to remove the pace lights?
2. Why is the Ford, a car from 1969, in the Formula 70's division?
Not even that, the Ford is an IndyCar. How hard could it have been to just make a classic indy tab within the divisions...sometimes T10s ideas and decisions have made me scratch my head plenty of times.

I'm assuming they can't talk about it, since it's probably gonna be a launch title for Project [INSERT CODENAME HERE] and Project [INSERT CODENAME HERE] which have only shown up as leaks so far...

I wonder if they were planning to say something but something changed? Seemed like the first announcement they made a decent amount of hype about it or at least specifically had it listed but it wasn't mentioned on the latter ones posted here.

I am quite convinced, at this point, T10 is either unable or unwilling for some compelling reason to add divisions post-launch.

My current theory is that they're going to drop the normal ZR1 as a spotlight car in July to coincide with the official C8 announcement (and also because that month's update comes close to 'Murica Day, so having one of the USA's most iconic cars be given out then isn't too far out there). Since they most likely won't have the C8 itself modeled, it seems like a fair compromise.

Now this I couldn't tell you. I mean, it's nice to give that division a bit more depth and I'm glad the car wasn't put in the black hole known as Forza Specials, but still.

FM7 really needs the FH Blueprint system. Wanting to run a race unsuitable the new Indycars, and it was full of the old gen cars. I tried choosing Indycar as the division, and then changed the year to 2019, but then just reset the division that I had chosen.
A known stupid bug among many others that I wish they really just fix already, its holding back freeplay so much. Mad frustrating dealing with options such as the year within a given division that resets for no reason.

The IndyCar engine and shifting sounds...... Thoughts?
Nothing wrong with it to me at least the new ones. I've never heard a brawner hawk in real life but this one sounds like they took a sports car V8 and slapped a turbo on it, I was expecting a not quite as deep of a note but hey maybe it did sound like that.
