I think $600-750 can get you a pretty good gaming PC, one that can surpass the capabilities of the One-X by a reasonable margin.

No.

I mean honestly, I don't understand how you guys just ignore outlets like Digital Foundry saying straight up that Xbox One X is around the performance of a GTX 1070-1080. GTX 1070-1080 also can't run every game at 4K native with a solid framerate either by the way.

In terms of teraflops it's more in line with a GTX1060 / RX580. See here for instance : https://www.gamespot.com/articles/heres-how-a-pc-with-xbox-scorpio-specs-performs/1100-6449878/

Obviously the exact known hardware of a console allows dev to tweak specifically for that hardware, so it can use that hardware efficiently, but it's definitely not got the raw capabilities of a 1070/1080.

We aren't talking teraflops, we are talking about performance.

Teraflop doesn't mean anything, it's an arbitrary number that only really useful for comparing similar kinds of hardware.

AMD teraflop =/= NVIDIA teraflop.

Console teraflop =/= PC GPU teraflop.

but it's definitely not got the raw capabilities of a 1070/1080.

Oh please, tell me about your personal experience with Xbox One X and trying to recreate it's performance with PC hardware?

Otherwise, I'm going to go with Digital Foundry.

Digital Foundry
The extent to which the comparison is valid is highly debatable, but we tried to replicate the ForzaTech content on the PC version based on this ultra-level stress test. It's impossible to keep all cars snapped into place as per the Scorpio demo, but the evidence seems to suggest we're looking at performance in the same ballpark as an Nvidia GTX 1070-class GPU here and even that can drop frames at ultra settings when wet weather hits. Turn 10's stringent budgeting would ensure that this would never happen in a console release. But the point isn't really about platform comparisons at this very early stage, it's more about how Turn 10 plans to use that power to get more visual return for the console player as opposed to just maxing out quality settings that offer a drastically diminishing visual returns.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...-motorsport-on-project-scorpio-the-full-story

The reality is that the 1070 wasn't even capable of matching as it dropped frames, they had to use a 1080 to match the performance without dropping frames(Xbox One X still had a 30% overhead) and this is before the game was optimized.

Are we still talking about Forza here? I'm sure there's a general Xbox One X thread somewhere :gtpflag:

Shhh!

We aren't allowed to do that.

The word you're looking for is "tolerant".

And they can continue to do share their opinions. That is the point of a discussion forum — regardless of if their opinion aligns with yours about the one specific product you so valiantly defend.

Apparently the point of a discussion forum is to go as far off topic of a thread as possible and making a thread dedicated to the topic they are attempting to talk about is wrong(and intolerant.).

Cute. Now, point me to where that was said.

That was the whole point of the other thread and what we were talking about in the other thread.

People were bringing it up completely randomly in threads with topics that had nothing to do with it, so a thread was made; which apparently made us intolerant to their opinions because we wanted these threads to stay on topic.

Again: point me to where it was said you weren't allowed.

You have serious reading comprehension issues. That wasn't what was said.

BTW I was being sarcastic with the whole "we aren't allowed to do that.", which is why I put Shhh! at the start.

It was the implication of the whole "tolerance" thing.

So how about the point of me valiantly defending?

Is that in reference to the argument about Forza using 100% of the power of the Xbox One? It clearly is(that's how game development works.).

Or is it reference to these arguments about how a Xbox One X matches the performance of a GTX 1070? An opinion of Digital Foundry that I'm echoing.

Is it a reference to how calling Forza 6 and 7, FM5.1 and FM5.2 is ludicrous and that both games added or are adding quite a bit over their predecessors?

Is it a reference to the "incremental improvement" argument? With how rain is now apparently "ridiculously" stupid"?

I've actually agreed with legitimate complaints about Turn 10 and Forza in these arguments.

Could at least not take a cheap shot without giving me the ability to defend myself.

Shhh!

We aren't allowed to do that.

That thread dedicated to FM7 vs. Project CARS 2 may be allowed but I think it was uncalled for. Wasn't it created because one poster reinforced how Project CARS 2 would deliver what he couldn't find in FM7? This suddenly made him a "spammer" spoiling the party for everyone else. Some people need to realize that some good points were raised on both sides while those arguments unfolded, which I would argue benefitted the threads during these post-E3 days of no news.

It wasn't about one poster.

So what was this about @McLaren?
You can ask @willbsn13 & the thread creator, @HighSeasHoMastr to elaborate on why it was made.

The fact you want to think a thread about Forza 7's hands-on impressions is benefited by a user coming in and making another post about why he prefers PCars 2 is ridiculous. That disrupted that thread immediately from the get-go & turned it into a comparison thread.

By your logic, I'll bet I'll get warned immediately if I go into the GT:Sport section and start posting about why I'm buying another game, just because there's "no E3 news".

It's obviously good when threads stay on topic, but some subjects may encourage open-ended responses. It happens all the time. If something is considered off-topic, the natural response would be not to fuel the disruptiveness with counterarguments.

Aren't you the one who argues that discussions must maintain a very strict connection to the thread title?

Regarding thread derailment: A natural flow of conversation is all well and good, and the discussion here has been interesting to read, but there comes a point when this tangent goes too far off of what the thread should be aimed at. That's the point where people should head into a more appropriate thread, quote the key talking points from this one, and keep going.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...xbox-one-x-releases-november-7-at-499.356617/

Ultimately, this is a thread about Forza Motorsport 7, not Xbox One X, gaming PCs or Project CARS 2.

I guess until more "news", aka videos, screenshots and t10 info are out.... thats about it for fruitful forza discussions
Yeah, we're in the post-E3 lull for the next month or so. Gamescom will be the next big inf dump but we might get a few nuggets here and there between then. Not enough to drive a discussion however, and unlike the official forums we don't flood threads with wishlisting over here :)

Or maybe it'd be better to not make such a bait post in the first place.

Aren't you the one who argues that discussions must maintain a very strict connection to the thread title?
No.

CHANGING THE SUBJECT

I hope Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is included. It always seems fun on TV with Nascar and Prototypes but seeing lower class cars navigate seems fun toom

FM7 won "Best Racing Game" at the E3 Game Critics Awards :D

They also won that last year, no? Yet there really wasn't many racing games last year in the first place. With GTS and PCars2 in the ring this time around, I was interested to see how'd it pan out.

Yes, they did, but last year I'm pretty sure FH3 was the only proper racing game at E3 so it wasn't even a question they were gonna win.

This year there was lots of competition as all big franchises announced a game, but they still managed to pull through and win it!

  • Forza Motorsport 7
  • Project CARS 2
  • F1 2017
  • Gran Turismo Sport
  • Need for Speed Payback
  • The Crew 2
That's all the racing games I can think of that made an appearance at E3 this year. It's a good year for racing games, with something for everyone out there.

...and they should (hopefully) begin revealing FM7's carlist any day now.
