Kinda they are going for both
They are going for Quality of the track but also making sure it doesnt end up in a FM5-like situation that were only 3 (hyporbole) well looking tracks that people ended up getting tired too fast
Forza 5 had 17 tracks, so 20 tracks is hardly a massive step up. And a massive scale down from FM7's 32 tracks, which I doubt FM8 can catch up to during it's support window.

Minor tidbit: Forza 5 only had 14 tracks on launch, it ended up with 17 after all DLC was finished.

FM2023 will launch with 20 - so that's 6 more than FM5 launched with.

Who knows how many we'll end up with - maybe not 32 but we will surely get close to that number at the very least.

Some might belive i am a forza hatet for things i said in this thread, thats actully not the case, forza motorsport is my 2nd favorite racing franshise of all time, i am just a bit dissapointing in some of the stuff happen to the new forza motorsport and yes i said i wont buy it at launch and thats still the case, but i never said i wont ever buy it, i still proably buy at a later date maybe after a year or so, and thats where the problem starts, my pc gpu is just a gtx 980 witch dosen’t cut it for even the minimum specs required, the rest of the pc is fine proably mostly fine with 16 gb ram and i5 cpu i dont have ssd either witch also seems like an requirement, my pc is quite old so i am not putting any upgrades to this one at this point, i rather buy a new pc but i wont be able to do that for at least 12 months maybe more, and i am not buying an Xbox series for one game, so this game proably have to wait for me until then, but i really thought a gtx 980 would be enough to play at 1080p

20 tracks IMO still isn't a bad number considering FM23 will feature day/night cycle and weather and  ALL tracks at launch, unlike FM5 which had none of those with less tracks at launch. Seriously there is like no comparison between the games based on this fact.
Fully agree, and to me it looks like they are going for geographic diversity as well: excluding the fantasy tracks we are currently at 13 tracks with three more to be announced:
  • 5 of these are in the United States: and so far none in the same state and all quite different in nature.
    • Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Indiana)
    • Laguna Seca (California
    • Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Ohio)
    • Road America (Wisconsin)
    • Virginia International Raceway (Virginia)
  • 6 of these are in Europe
    • Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain)
    • Circuit de Spa Francorchamps (Belgium)
    • Le Mans - Circuit International de la Sarthe (France)
    • Mugello Circuit (Italy)
    • Nürburgring GP (Germany
    • Silverstone Circuit (England)
  • 1 of these is in Japan: Suzuka
  • 1 of these is in South Africa: Kyalami

We currently do not have 1 country of US State with 2 tracks and everything looks quite geographically spread out. Based on this I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining ones are Bathurst, Abu Dhabi and something in either Florida (Sebring or Daytona) or Texas (COTA) to continue this trend.

In the end 20 tracks is not a lot, but knowing that all tracks will have day/night and weather, plus knowing more tracks will come (for free), it will be a great way to start things of.

I don't understand why, it's a pretty good pack of cars in my opinion.
Even though I think it's a rather good pack, I can extend some criticism to an extent. The Acura and Audi are still in the car list on Forza.net which and were both shown in trailers which gives the impression that they are holding these cars back. And when you look at the model years, these BTCC and IMSA GTD cars are already quite old and mostly if not all replaced by newer machinery.

Anyway, very much looking forward to getting my hands on these :)

Did he follow up with what is specifically wrong with the start screen?

“Just look at it” isn’t really an insightful design critique.

I don’t like the top right overlay but it looks temporary.
If Skyrim is anything to go by, it isn't going to be temporary. It's going to be used for advertising DLC, updates, etc. I remember getting a mod for Skyrim Anniversary Edition specifically to remove it.

Posted about the Race Day Car Pack on the Forza Subreddit, and to no one’s surprise, the fans are absolutely livid.

"How dare they cut cars from the core roster for a day one car pack? Those cars should be available to everyone for freeeee. Plus Nurburgring"

Basically sums up the complaints, which is understandable. This wouldn't have happened if the cars weren't revealed in the gameplay teasers and official screenshots before the DLC was announced.

Checked the Xbox at Gamescom schedule, and we'll be getting a deeper look at Motorsport tomorrow. Hopefully, we'd get at least some reveals today.

I guess the tricky thing for them is when they started development of the game, the cars were probably still relevant. I'm glad they have gone with what they have though, the Levorg and Astra I will use a lot.

I sort of understand why people feel the need to criticise, but the content is still there day 1 is it not? And the cars are all new to Forza. So I personally question whether that's withholding content or creating incentive to get the deluxe/premium editions, which is perfectly acceptable.

Do you have to buy those packs to get the Cars????
They are included in the Premium edition, also in the Premium add-ons bundle or you can buy the packs separately.

What I did with FH5 is to play it through Game Pass and when they put it on sale buy the Premium edition.

I will buy Motorsport on day one thanks to Microsoft Rewards, otherwise I would do the same as with FH5.

100% agree. We also don't have any information on available layouts yet, Hakone and what layouts that will have, the mention of a historic version of Laguna Seca. Plenty yet to discover and understand about the track list.

I think they will put Sebring and Daytona beacuse of iMSA License
The last track would be between Bathust/Mt. Panorama (Australia) , Road Atlanta (Georgia) and The Glen (New York)

Huh. Turns out my prediction was wrong - and so far only two of the cars that went missing from the preliminary car list are in the Race Day pack. The BRM and Oldsmobile will probably get quite a lot of mileage from me, and the BTCC could provide some interesting racing opportunities... But the question now becomes, what of those other missing cars? I want my goddamn Oreca 07!

I'll just wait until the Xbox Series X becomes cheap to buy. But man, that Lotus Type 40, The BRM P201 and the Oldsmobile Cutlass racer... DO WANT.
I got my Series X a month ago, purely for Forza Motorsport and to be ahead of the price hike from €499 to €549 for which it currently sells on the Xbox store. And it's been a very enjoyable first month with Horizon 5, Flight Simulator and Stray. Loading times are cut down to next to nothing, it's amazing! :)

In addition to that wonderful BRM (hopefully the 1967 BRM P115 will follow at some point), the Lotus 40 and the Oldsmobile, also very much looking forward to the 1966 McLaren M2B, 1970 Ferrari 512S and the new prototypes, GT racers and touring cars :)

Same here, the Oreca 07 is a must and I really hope it comes sooner rather than later.

It would make sense for Turn Ten to return that to the launch day car list (base game), and four other cars as well:
  1. 2021 Cadillac #31 Whelen Engineering Racing DPi-V.R
  2. 2019 Ginetta #6 Team LNT G60 LT-P1
  3. 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935
  4. 1983 Porsche #11 John Fitzpatrick Racing 956
Then after that, we would have 290 cars coming to the base game plus nine others (eight from the Race Day Car Pack, and one currently known Car Pass car, the Lotus Type 40 Ford).

For me, the Mugello track looks very similar to how it now looks in FM7 - that final section and the start/finish straight are no narrower than usual. Trackside objects look better though. I'd love to see 4k straight off the console rather than via a smartphone camera of a screen though :D

But the most important thing is that it's using FH5's approach where AI meets your PI. This is awesome, because I can do my usual of racing most cars stock/untuned against the AI, rather than forcing an upgrade to a particular class. Really happy for this confirmation :D

Maybe it has just been a while since I last played it, I'm sure that run into the final corner looks narrower. You're right about the environment though, looks much better.

Where did you see about the AI meeting players PI?

Look at the end screen after the race. The player is mid A class (638) and the AI also have roughly the same PI, just like in Horizon 4 and 5.

Edit: It could be that I'm comparing the track also to the laser scanned Mugello from Assetto Corsa, which I played a lot more than Mugello in FM7. But I think the two were pretty similar.

Nice, I hadn't looked closely enough at that. I really hope that is the case across all modes, that's the best feature of Horizon for me.
