It shows scripted weathers and times of day. He's after how the weather changes during a race (like in GT7 where a weather radar tells you what is going to happen) I guess?

Another positive note from the video, at least in my opinion... Obviously we will have to check personally, pad in hand... But the cars seem much more "planted", more predictable behaviour, without however staying as if on "rails". In Forza 7, IIRC, they tended to move even too much, like they were always sliding. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The "always sliding" thing was my biggest turn-off with the last couple of games, I just didn't like the handling. But I remember mentioning it and nobody else seemed to have a problem with it. That's the #1 reason why I'm still more of a GT person than Forza. This sounds like good news potentially for me at least.

Closer look as well, fuel gauge showing laps remaining.

2 lap race finishing 4th paying 3550 credits, VIP would be around 7100. Seems about what I'd expect based on previous FM games, so the lower car prices meaning lower payouts theory doesn't look like it stands up currently.

Same feelings here... But now I'm more confident (I already was when they talked about revised physics compared to the latest Forza TBH, but you know how it is, until you see it you don't believe it). Let's hope we won't be disappointed, fingers crossed!

I haven't ever had any sliding issues in Forza, going all the way back to the OG. I also hadn't had sliding issues in GT games. I did have some sliding issues in RacePro 07 for Xbox 360 back in the day. And sometimes in ACC I struggle with some sliding, but it's manageable.

So the currently confirmed track list:

Real Tracks

  1. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
  2. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
  3. Indianapolis Motor Speedway
  4. Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit†
  5. Le Mans – Circuit International de la Sarthe
  6. Laguna Seca Raceway
  7. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course†
  8. Road America
  9. Silverstone Circuit
  10. Suzuka Circuit
  11. Virginia International Raceway
  12. Nurburgring (Nordschleife coming in 2024)
  13. Mugello Autodromo

Fictional Tracks

  1. Circuit Hakone†
  2. Eaglerock Speedway†
  3. Grand Oak Raceway†
  4. Maple Valley

3 more to reveal?

I think Yas Marina, Monza, COTA, Watkins Glen or Sebring will be in.
What do the crosses mean?

Personally, I didn't say that the "always sliding" feeling (sort of) I experienced in Forza was unmanageable. But I noticed this behaviour, this tendency of the car, of some cars more than others, to be imprecise when cornering, which often forced me to partialize the throttle, to approach the corners differently... It's something in which I was able to see the difference between Forza and Gran Turismo, often driving the same car on the same track, in the two games. I repeat, not an unmanageable sliding... However, a different behaviour from that of Gran Turismo. As if in Forza the cars were "lighter" sometimes, I can't explain. Especially at the rear end.

I'd put it as "Forza up to FM7 shows a tendency to have slides be on/off, like PC sims of 10-15 years ago. If you overcook things just a little, you get put into a kind of penalty slide which seems to last a fixed amount of time, like a canned effect. Unlike modern PC sims which have much more nuance around the edge of grip and let you actually work with the car to regain grip".

This is one area which the tyre model changes seem to affect. I have high hopes for this change.

But I agree with @GT PRO-AM that Forza Motorsport 7's cars never really feel that planted. I blame this on bad aero simulation of race cars, too much oversteer tendency and bad behaviour over bumps. I mitigate it in FM7 by mostly driving slower cars like modern hatchbacks, sedans, GT cars. But then avoiding everything which is RR or MR.

FH4 and FH5 have too much front end grip, but they do make cars feel a lot more planted and more fun to just drive.

The main problem I had with FM7 was that cars that rely on high speed aero, like GT3 class cars or especially the roadgoing Radical, felt like they had no rear aero at high speed. Cars like that get more and more planted as they speed up so having them kick out on a slight kink at 150mph felt super unnatural.

Although it felt like a lack of rear aero, judging by what we've seen it was actually caused by spikes in the old suspension/tire model upsetting the car at high speed. From what we've seen in FH4/FH5's improvements and the footage of FM8 we've seen I'm feeling pretty confident that it's way better now.

Only time I have ever felt the sliding was when I used a racing wheel with Forza Motorsport 5. I've never used a wheel with Forza since that day.

"How dare they cut cars from the core roster for a day one car pack? Those cars should be available to everyone for freeeee. Plus Nurburgring"

[Warning: NSFW language]

The only BTCC cars, new to the series, and they are behind a Premium Edition paywall?

I am supposed to be excited and praise Turn10 for that :boggled:

"Not Available Separately" either, so I am not sure how they can call it a pack, when its not available to purchase.

It'll be available down the line, bonus content usually is. Wouldn't be a very good incentive to buy the premium edition if the cars in it weren't desirable and the pack was available to buy on it's own straight away..

The incentive for the Prem/Deluxe is the Car Pass, VIP, and to Beta test the game 5 days before everyone else.

You have to spend £27 for the Add On Pack, or £80/90 if you don't have Game Pass.

edit - 629TL = £18 on Turkey Xbox Store though

Beta test? 🤣. The incentive is everything Turn10 says it is.

As you can see, it is listed as an incentive to buy the premium edition or premium add on bundle.

To be fair, much as I'm not always the biggest Forza fan I don't begrudge spending a bit extra on this because this'll be 'it' for three or four years with regular support and a couple of expansions - certainly far better value for money than any of these yearly releases. Those BTCC cars alone will ensure I get a pricier version and I can't really fault MS for that, given its going up on Game Pass etc as well. This will cost the same as the next Supercross game and I think I already know which is more worth buying...

It's up to you, really. I can understand the criticism of some cars being removed and then put as DLC.

Thanks for the poo emoji, btw.

Yeah, release date is 5th October. Pay up to play at launch, or wait 5 days.

Also, you wanna see what is also funny - the infographic doesn't show the Race Day Car Pack as part of the £80 edition, only the £90 version.

Yet the description says otherwise:

If they're new to Forza and the game isn't out, then have they actually been removed and put as DLC?

It isn't a Beta test period is my point. It's encouraging you to spend more money on the game. Entirely optional, but an incentive no less. As others have pointed out as well, as it is a day 1 Game Pass game that will get extensive support over the next half decade, I am totally fine with what their proposition is. If you're not, that's fine too, you have the choice not to pay extra.

Beta test is clearly a joke  Although, without Nordschliefe, you could call this game "Early Access" until Spring.

I will continue to be aggravated that BTCC cars finally make their way to Forza, and they're behind a paywall, despite being in the "car list" and material shown prior to release. I don't think that's unreasonable.

False advertising in the description though? We allowing that too?

I have this problem with certain racing games since Grid 2, it is really annoying sometimes, specially for cars that are suposed to be more grippy than that

Focus BTCC will be part of regular roster along various TCR cars, TCR will have new-to-motorsport cars like the Hyundai TCR, the Lynk TCR, the Golf TCR and probally the MG TCR

Also considering the newer BTCC cars are exclusive to someone else, i dont doubt the owners of such near-new/before 2019 cars raised the prices of licenses to other people knowing they would get money with it

extensive support over the next half decade

I think it would get until a year or on same year of the sucessor of series X, if they dont follow the sea of thieves route and keep the game well into the following gen as they develop the following game, kinda when FH4 updates ended up only circa 6 months before Horizon 5

Agreed, the lack of numbering on this title tells me it is not only a reboot, but is THE Motorsport game for this generation.
