Some of the lost tracks from FM7 we're always gonna be tough to swallow, but really sucks to see Bathurst, Monza, Brands Hatch not make the launch of FM2023.

Full list of tracks missing from FM7 here;

  • Autodromo Nazionale Monza
  • Bernese Alps
  • Brands Hatch
  • Circuit of the Americas
  • Daytona International Speedway
  • Dubai Circuit
  • Hockenheimring
  • Long Beach
  • Mount Panorama Circuit
  • Nurburgring (coming Spring 2024)
  • Prague
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • Road Atlanta
  • Sebring International Raceway
  • Sonoma Raceway
  • Test Track Airfield
  • Top Gear Test Track
  • Yas Marina Circuit
It was always going to be a big list of cuts, but some of those cut deep.

Hopefully a bunch of these come back in the next year,

You and your team had done a great work on those, the only point i want to note is that it looked a bit too flashy in the first video and people with photosensivities may have trouble watchinb the video
That’s the thing with an annual franchise, you get many chances to make the videos better next year 🙂

Another FM7 vs FM2023 comparison (not mine)

I Know not many people like oval racing, but oval racing is really popular, is no wonder that devs had put ovals even in GT7
I also like oval racing, but Eagle Rock doesn't do enough to warrant its inclusion in my opinion. This would've been a perfect time to bring back Sunset Peninsula instead; including its infield layout which I remember being decent. Eagle Rock doesn't seem to have an infield but I could be mistaken on that.

The “cut” list is almost as good as the locked list, if a game launched with that roster it would be a good one.

Definitely want to see most of the real-world tracks return eventually, they’re good variety in there.
They said that want to focus tracks that let drivers race more light and not that agressive, they want make people to stop driving agressive and make rammers less rammers somewhat

It had a infeld but i dont think it will be a raceable infield
I just feel intresting but also weirdly that the only extra layout the track seems to have, its that chcane on the oppositing side
What? When did they say that?
In one of their Forza Monthly after the Xbox showcase, around the time they also talk about the lack of some cars like the Caddy Limo
I had forgot what one exactly tho

If you want a good laugh, watch any of Super GT's hilarious FM7 rammer videos. I was watching one earlier where he analysed the 12 car pile-up on the first corner of Rio short circuit and it was really funny seeing him analyse player braking input as they basically blasted full speed ahead straight into the slowing pack :D

I can see why they want to create a set of good driver ratings and penalties, but the Forza Motorsport crowd is clearly less serious than GT Sport or GT7 so it would make sense to give us a set of tracks with a low number of first corner nightmares.

Saying that, Nurburgring GP is definitely one of the worse offenders for 1st corner mayhem in game and in real life, yet that's in. So yeah, not fully believable.

Monza’s turn 1 sentenced the track to death then 😅

The launch list is good. Some of my personal favourites (Monza, Bathurst, Road Atlanta, Daytona) didn’t make it but that’s ok. Patches are a thing.

Thanks for that @Veketi . I'm glad someone was able to post something, I just knew @Ande3200 was incapable of answering that himself. This is actually a great comparison though.

I have two drastically different coping mechanisms for a lack of Monza: 1, the relief that I won't have to worry about the aforementioned Turn 1 nightmares, and 2, the possibility that they have delayed it because they have somehow figured out how to get an accurate driveable laser scan of the classic layout with the banked oval and just need a little extra time to fine-tune it.

And no Bathurst is a shame, but I've been told that apparently the franchise peaked with a game that didn't have it either, so what can you do.

So we lost tracks like Monza, Bathurst, Daytona, Hockenheimring, Brands Hatch, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Circuit America and the Ring for tracks like Gran Oak, Mid Ohio and Eaglerock.

I would take Mid Ohio over Road Atlanta and Sebring. The full ring is confirmed for early spring 2024.

They told you they were going to add content through monthly updates. I'm not sure there's that much room for worry. It stirs up excitement and attention by bringing these tracks like Brands Hatch, Monza and Bathurst in after release too. If they're really into this reboot of Motorsport for the long haul, I would expect to see these come back as well as others with hopefully include their original tracks.

I've thought about why I'm disappointed in the track list for a while now, but I think I've finally got it. FM4 was not perfect, but it had a nice balance of realistic tracks and "Cool for the sake of being cool" tracks. One of the things that sticks out to me about FM4 is its stunning vistas; that's not to say I want only looks though. I feel like these new fantasy tracks don't really strike me the same way since they look like just more competitively viable tracks, but I'll have to drive them before I make a full judgement on whether that's the case. I feel like there's quite a bit of missed potential with them, not everything has to be so strictly realistic. I'm not asking for hovercars or futuristic cities or anything ridiculous like that. I just want something imaginative and cool to look at that's also fun to drive. You may have seen my many messages about Camino in this thread, and it's because it checks all those boxes for me!

Still though, I know why they aren't including things like that anymore, it's just a bit of a shame. Remaking even just one of those with modern fidelity would probably take up too much time for the launch roster. At this point I'm just hoping to see those post-launch possibly. The new fantasy tracks might end up wowing me after all, we'll just have to see.

i am suprised Miami would be the oval that stayed but Daytona is out of the game lmao
Likely we will see in Feb with the 500 and Daytona 24

Also suprised that Glen was not the kicked, i guess we really dont know when its offcally after all

The game trying to be serious about racing is telling me my slick tires are bald.
The person that had put it in the game proably comes from acountry that uses this term
I say that beacuse here in Brazil we use bald (Carecas) to refer to worn/wasted tires, its actually more popular than waster or worn tires

Lime Rock is a short, 'beginner-friendly' course, which are positive qualities mind you. Not every track needs to be a technical GP course, and I think the variety helps compensate for the lack of track quantity somewhat. It's a good pick in my opinion.

Homestead is decent enough as an oval and a roval too I suppose. It helps that it isn't in ACC, PCARS 2, or GT7, so at least there is some differentiation.

Watkins Glen seems like it's the safest choice to round out the list considering it's in all ACC, PCARS 2, and GT7, but it's in the other games for good reason; it's a great track.

Nevertheless, plenty of those cut tracks really stick out, and it goes to show how slim 20 locations is compared to the competing titles (on paper, at least). I hope that the career and multiplayer are designed in a way that there is limited repetition (I get that driving a bunch of laps is inherently repetitive) and that it doesn't feel like there are 'only' 20 locations.

I was always going to wait for a sale before buying because I want to wait for more content down the line before jumping in and because I'm generally a cheapskate, but I feel more justified in waiting now.

Yes. We use that term. It's commonly said. But you don't call a tire that is bald from the factory bald when it's worn. That's just weird. We say that about our street cars tires.
The display on the top of the screen just says tires are bald. Maybe that's a crew chief saying that and that's a subtitle that's on? I don't know.
-Tires are bald.
-Well yes. Yes they most definitely are.
:D

Everyone has their own tastes and preferences, and that's okay. But me personally would take the Ring and Sebring from the start for those other tracks tbh. They could release those tracks later since again imo they are not as important as the Ring.

Is this type of comment that scaries me
I dont want influence or force people to get, people do what they want with their money, but nowadays if games dont have a great frst weeks or a great first month, companies get not much motivated to update the games....

I guess they wanted focus exactly that, in beginner level tracks before put the advanced ones with upgrades

The full ring is super important. But it's also the largest one and being done from the ground up. I would like them to take their time getting it right then to push it out too soon.

You say that like Forza Motorsport is a standard release that is primarily supported by sales of the game and eventual DLC or microtransactions. That's not the case here and I don't think we're gonna have MTX at all (if they learned anything at all from the past FM titles... they better not).
I don't have hard numbers or super-duper-direct evidence, but I genuinely think that Game Pass subscriptions, whether or not they are being purchased to play Forza, are going to be a big chunk of the game's cash flow. It's, after all, a first-party title from the company that runs said subscription system.

If I wanted to feel conspiratorial and put on my Lizard People Did It hat on, I would say maybe Microsoft/Turn 10 isn't pushing super hard on the marketing because they feel confident the game will stand on its own and - at $10-$17 a month - people will just try it anyway and let players promote it to each other.
This is a conspiratorial theory though, I'm not betting one second that I'm right.
