HokiHoshi’s video is fantastic and thorough.

One thing, the new tow hooks and hood pins are neat inclusions to customisation, but immediately rolled my eyes at the same old ugly rear wing. I know to some here it’s just another whine, but when one of their main aspects of the game is about building cars to be your own, visual aspects should be a better part of that. I really try to avoid comparisons to GT, but they really did it almost perfectly. What I enjoy most about that game is I can create a car that truly feels unique, with its highly variable rear wings, splitters and diffusers, and exhausts that better match an upgraded exhaust.

Man I'm just really not a fan of their fictional track designs for quite a while now. It's all super long, very fast corners. Dont get me wrong, I'm a fan of faster corners and actual curves and all, but the tracks seem to lack heavily in any kind of more technical sections that actually test your skills more thoroughly. There's no balance here. And this not only hurts the racing and satisfaction of learning them in my opinion, but also just makes them not feel very realistic/plausible as actual tracks.

Still optimistic about the game as a whole, but yea, just wanted to say this cuz it seems to be a trend that's not going away with this series.

I cracked up at the gag in the first few seconds, too: yes, let's get an acknowledgement of this thing people were worried about out of the way as soon as humanly possible.

You are allowed to whine, just because there are a few who will defend Turn10 no matter what.

The Forza Wing has to be a meme at this point, they know what they're doing 😂

State of that. Wow.

ya me neither, but it looks intentional as they are supposed to be "easier" tracks to drive

Spot on. The only difference between Hakone, Maple Valley and Grand Oak are the surroundings.

Quite disappointed in Hakone to be honest, was hoping for a very technical and modern Tilke style circuit (which sounds weird to say), but instead it’s just some really mild curves with a futuristic backdrop. Esses and long apexes aren’t quite as thrilling when it’s all the circuit is.

Also, Hakone and Grand Oak seems extremely wide.

Does he? I've been here since the beginning and I never noticed that.
He always grew his beard during development and would end up clean shaven at the end. From what I saw anyway, but that's just my observation since since the beginning like you. Can't say it's a ritual though... lol

His complaint about weak force feedback through his wheel over curbs at parking lot speeds... Absolutely no one is going to do this, so why bring it up?
What about the other 42 minutes of things he picked up on 🤔 😅

Sounds like photomode hasn't been updated at all if it has the same UI and no deeper features that have been added. Which is disappointing.

Video from a more casual Forza player.

He said that Turn 10 told him that this is an old build, I would wait for review copies to release before setting stuff like this in stone.

As a side note, can we appreciate the lack of a cringy over the top high energy 40yo acting like a 15yo announcer or narrator?

Also a nice side effect of the leveling system is that you are still having progression in modes like practice.

And now that I've watched more of this, I better understand some of the logistical problems of the Car XP/upgrade system. I think a lot of grief might've been avoided if this idea was entirely limited to career mode. And locking some of the more basic essential upgrades like tire compounds and adjustable suspension parts behind a few too many tiers of a level-up system is probably going to be a problem when it comes to the early feeling-out process it seems like T10 wants to instill for people starting out in a new car. But as attempts to make Forza more "CarPG"-like goes, I guess I'll take it over some convoluted RNG-based random-drop rarity system or whatever other aggravating nonsense people have learned to put up with in AAA action titles.

Graphics modes for those interested

XSX
  • No RT at 4K 60FPS
  • RT at dynamic res 60FPS
  • RT at 4K at 30FPS

XSS
  • No RT at dynamic res 60FPS
  • (Presumably since they don't say) fixed 1440p at 30FPS, no RT
Didnt they promise 4k 60 with RT for Series X and a 60fps RT mode for Series S?
Lets see how low the res goes for the RT 60fps mode.

And 30fps modes in a sim racer? Come on

Hoki mentioned tying it to car type or brand and I think that'd make it better; he also suggested having all parts available at level 1 so you still had to grind a bit to upgrade everything, but you could at least choose relevant upgrades early on.

Its 4k dynamic 60 fps RT and there is a 60 fps mode on series s.

Hoki video is the 60 fps on series s

Another nitpick about career: it jolts me out of my sense of progression when events featuring older, slower cars are locked until you complete a series featuring newer and faster ones. In the HokiHoshi video I spotted a classic hot-hatch event that required beating a series featuring modern performance saloons first to unlock it, and that actually bugs me the way the XP system's bugging other people. I want to throw around an '80s Golf GTI first, then go for the late-model hi-performance BMW sedan.
