Considering how silent they've been about the liveries, expect them to just port over fh5's system with no changes. I would like to see paintable windows/glass with a img importer (via the forza site). Maybe even a race suit designer. I would like some tire lettering options too (even if it's the forza lettering or even the fake brands like prorata like in the 2020 trailer) with different colors.

Infact I would even like the garage from that trailer as an alternative to the current one. Maybe even add the garages from the previous games too.

Either way, we should be seeing this stuff in just over 24 hours.

I would not expect any huge changes. The outcry in the community would be to great, remember what happened with FM5 after they changed the system which prevented import from the older games…
And that was even before the „YouTube“-Era, today it would be a huge talking point

Forza Horizon 5 system plus the few improvements from Forza Motorsport 7 that never made it across* would be ok for me, provided I can still import all my previous work.

If Turn 10 are feeling really adventurous, they could let creators set their works as “open source”, so that if somebody else downloads a design/vinyl, they can freely edit and reshare it however they like. Forza Motorsport 4 sort of did this with the gifting system and it was a huge help for painters as we would pass around all our logos to each other.

*Forza Motorsport 7 had an open, neutrally lit space where you could properly see what you were doing. Also, if you held down a specific button, you could move/rotate/scale elements at specific intervals, which made moving a shape from one end of a car to the other a very quick process.

If you want to know, which cars are in the game, might be coming or will be cut, this is the absolute best Forza car list made by ManteoMax:

When you go to Data > Filtered View you can add your own temporary filter to find out tons of interesting things

I cleaned this up last night, including the Stats and Links tabs. Since we haven't revealed the car divisions yet, the Car Types column shows the division from the most recent game a car was in. That'll be cleaned up for launch, but the various charts on the stats tab show comparative information about FM's roster vs previous games with car count, makes, and NTF models.

I would be very disappointed if the livery editor remained the same. I mean even 6-7 years before the suggestions hub became a thing, one of the features I would see requested pretty often was window stickers and other improvements to the livery editor in general. But yeah...I don't think they've said anything about it so far, right? I at least hope they've gone in and fixed the UVs for the cars so 0.00 is actually centered.

As flawed a game as GT7 is, it's got great painting features and I hope it gives T10 some ideas.

Someone did a tool in PC that all it does is automatically put in place the image you want, and the paint community went CRAZY for it
But considering how GT already has a such tool, i would say is just a matter of time for Forza have something simmilar

I'm guessing the livery editor is going to stay mostly the same - if it was radically improved I think they'd be hyping that feature up more. I expect the FH5 improvements - and designs from previous games to be importable.

I'm very curious to see about free-play improvements. Please let us share races like the Horizon series!

Excited to see what gets unveiled tomorrow. Make or break time for T10!

Back in October 2019, I made these suggestions for enhancements to the vinyl and livery editors. I made these suggestions because they seemed like things that could be reasonably added to the FH4 editor without requiring a change to the existing design paradigm. I will be very disappointed if they haven't added at least some of this:

Livery Editor:

Mask Scoping: Mask layers in the current implementation cut through all layers beneath them, all the way down to the car finish. I would like a method to scope them, to stop the masking operation within the vinyl stack with a scoping layer. This would enable the masks to expose gradients or frame complex images on lower layers and would make them considerably more flexible. What I envision is basically the ability to create an anti-mask layer in a similar manner as “create mask from group”. The anti-mask would simply abort all masking operations on higher layers at its level, so the mask would expose the vinyls beneath the scoping layer. It would also allow the scoping layer to have an arbitrary geometry for increased flexibility.

Set Transparency on Group or Selection: You can currently set the color on a group or selection or vinyl layers. You can also move or rotate them as a unit. I would like the ability to set the transparency value of a vinyl group or selection of vinyl layers to a common value, in the same manner as you can set the color. This would save a lot of time on some of the projects I have done.

Independent X-Y Axis Scaling on Vinyl Groups: When vinyls are collected into a group, they can currently only be scaled at 1:1. Changing the proportions of the group with independent axis scaling is not possible. I would like the ability to do this, since it would allow adjustment of vinyl groups to fix the available space more accurately, or to compensate for surface distortions.

Apply Skew Transform to Vinyl Groups: Skew can currently only be applied to individual vinyl primitives. I would like the ability to apply a skew to a vinyl group. This would make it easier to create oblique text, and provide another mechanism to compensate for distortions on irregular surfaces.

Apply Skew Transform to Y Axis: Some of the primitives are not symmetrical on the X and Y axis, and the ability to apply skew on only the X axis can be limiting in some cases.

More Livery Editor:

Micro-Adjust Mode: Currently move operations in the vinyl editor are a minimum of 0.5 unit granularity. A method to move vinyls and groups at a granularity of 0.1 or finer is needed. There are frequent issues getting vinyls to line up between surfaces, such as running a continuous racing stripe from the front surface, over the top of the car, and onto the back surface (and sometimes over the wing, too). The coordinates between the surfaces rarely line up properly, and sometimes even the scale is off. This can result in annoying discontinuities at the surface transitions that cannot be adjusted out due to the low granularity of the move operation. I’m not sure why move operates at such a poor granularity, the rotate and scale operations offer pretty good granularity.

Undo Stack: The ability to undo the several prior operations done in the vinyl editor would be useful.

OpenType/TrueType Font Support: The fonts available in the vinyl editor leave a lot to be desired. There are numerous styles missing, and a significant number of characters that are not present. There are no bold or italic options. Why not leverage the scalable outline fonts that come with Windows (and I assume Xbox)?

So gameplay today going to watch supergt, but question is, is it before forza monthly or after,
I think right after, all of the gameplay from the previews goes up.

Surely we'll be getting a final car list today/tomorrow since the preview builds will have access to the full car list.

I cant wait for the vids to go up.Ive made up my mind and pre ordered anyway,I just want to see some actual gameplay footage, car list and what new features.

unfortunately I cant pre order it, my pc is little out of date, core i5, 16 gtb ram, gtx 980, and no ssd, i think gpu and harddrive is what stopping it from working, i don’t want to buy an Xbox series x either for one game, the plan is to get a better pc, its like 10 years old so i dont want to put upgrades either on that old pc, and if i am going to buy a new pc i want a build with maybe 4080 its expensive but good for the future, i wont be able to do that in timeframe the new fm comes out so it have to wait for maybe to spring or summer, but still going to watch gameplay becouse i want to see how it looks and plays

I pre ordered for console,I honestly dont think my laptop will run it.If I try to install FH5 it gets to almost fully installed then tells me my graphics card isnt good enough and stops the install. However,I can stream FH5 to the same laptop and it is`playable`,though not wonderful,a bit laggy and glitchy.lol.
I dare say the reddit forums will make interesting reading tonight once the streams go up.

I think waiting might improve your experience. Most major bugs would be patched (hopefully no mem leak like fm7), and there would be a good amount of content added (with no FOMO like FH). Some things like online penalty/ratings and car xp system might get tweaked for a better experience too.

Oh I'm going to stay away from /r/forza till about a week after release, it seems that's how much attention span the trolls have before the actual player discourse drowns them out, judging by how the starfield launch went. Twitter is still a cesspit, but that never changes
