I dont know why anyone has pre-ordered this game considering its on Game Pass.
Most people don't have Game Pass, myself included. I wanted early access.
After seeing a thread on twitter from Jimmy Broadbent
Guardians Of The Galaxy GIF

It looks like the game is pretty universally disliked
From what I have seen, the game is pretty universally liked.

It looks like the game is pretty universally disliked… look at Reddit or the big Sim Racing names on Twitter, all questioning the good reviews. well, I‘ve now played 2 hours and had great fun.
The big sim racing websites and names have always disliked Forza and GT, since they are sims with arcade elements aiming for the masses to enjoy. No surprise here....

In other news, I was doing a race which started of with light drizzle then the weather got heavier - bigger and more frequent rain drops, wetter road surface, spray forming. It looks excellent!

To be very honest, every video game review rating tends to be inflated for various reasons. There's a reason the "IGN 7/10" is a meme, and if you're not aware of it, major game reviewers like IGN giving a game a 7/10 may as well mean they think it's average... but they would rather keep good relations with publishers than give a more "honest" score.

There's also the fact that the more niche and demanding parts of a community becomes, the more they have a sharp sense of what they like and dislike and the more they'll find things to criticize even if the game is - broadly and legitimately - a good product.
That's part of why you should be careful listening to sim racers like Super GT or Jimmy Broadbent talking about FM, a game that simulates many things but is arguably not a sim racer (in the sense that it's not trying to compete with Rennsport, iRacing, or Assetto Corsa Competizione). They have a very forward enthusiast's opinion, them having a critical eye doesn't necessarily mean the game sucks. They just have higher or different standards.

After seeing a thread on twitter from Jimmy Broadbent complaining about the 8/10 reviews being too high, I think I've got to the stage in my life that his opinions "just aren't for me", and that's ok, as much as I enjoy sim-racing, Forza/GT is as much sim as I need, and after playing enough of FM today to make my own opinion, I think all the other sims on my PC will be gathering dust for the foreseeable future, it just has everything I want in a racing game, and I'm so excited to put more hours into it over the next week and beyond.
I like Jimmy but his opinions on FM8 seem to me like he had made up his opinion long before he had touched the game. If you're going in with an attitude that it's going to be bad, chances are you'll think it's bad.

I'm at the point of rightly guessing IGN's review ratings just from the tone of voice of the reviewer... This time it was the "I could almost give it a nine, but have an 8 instead" intonation...

I predownloaded it on Gamepass and recently sprung for the 1TB expansion card so I could keep it, FH5, and Starfield available.

I'm looking forward to it but am a bit bummed by the lack of tracks, especially longer ones. I was hoping for the Fuji mountain track to return.

But I've become a bit of an odd player. Rather than racing, I like soloing over a long course--like Sierra in GT6, Fuji, and the Nordschleife--especially at night and in rain.

100% agree with you

I stopped watching his videos about 2 years ago and I'm better for it. I don't know him so it's nothing personal but I seem to gravitate to a few other content creators who I vibe with a little better

Did you and/or the AI take a pit stop to change tires?

I've given up on believing any real consensus on reviews at this point because they tend to come from three sources:

-undercritical generalist big-name game sites that don't have a lot of time or energy invested in racing sims, look at a game like Forza, go "wow pretty, and there's lots of cars, and I guess this is how a sim title should feel, so 8/10" without much thought

-hardcore sim snobs who have spent more time arguing in forums over Ian Bell's antics than actually playing a Forza title because "simcade" games are for filthy casuals, and therefore treat it with all the credibility of a Need for Speed title

-surly nostalgists who refuse to believe any game could ever be better than Forza Motorsport 4, and have basically given up on enjoying the franchise in any form

I don't expect full-on cheerleading, and at least this site's review, critical as it was, seemed to be coming from a place more honest than those other types. But at this point I figure I won't be able to trust anyone else's impressions but my own.

I had the same issue, it seems to be a pretty widespread issue on PC by looking at the reddit page for the game, the only other option is to play it offline as that apparently works but you can only play freeplay offline I think so i'll just wait until midnight to see if it works then.
It is very unfortunate that this game has joined the streak of botched AAA PC ports over the past year or so ahem Jedi Survivor, TLOU ahem combined with the boneheaded decision to cap frame rates online.

This whole pre-release marketing and hype and promises of deep single-player and improved AI has all been smoke and mirrors by the looks of it. Glad I dodged a bullet. T10 could take some cues from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Tears of the Kingdom instead of going the typical AAA ‘release now, update later’ MO.

I've never really agreed with his opinions on racing games but I also feel like this release he either had some extremely high expectations or there's something behind the scenes going on. I have my own issues with the game but he seems overly critical in a way that seems above and beyond his normal "sim racer thinks all games below ACC are arcade" type of opinions he normally has. Still wont forget his "arcade to sim tier list" he made that one time, which is what really made me realize he has some strange outlooks on racing games. I don't expect to understand his opinion even when he releases his video, either. If anything I expect to be more confused. I just hope whatever his issue is isn't something that will make me see him in a bad light because I do like Jimmy.

Ya. I think it was around the beginning of GT Sport where people and myself had really started hearing about him. However it started to fall off. Lately if you try and watch anything he does, it just caters to insufferable 13 year olds on Reddit riddled with ADHD. His videos are nothing but screaming cut aways and annoying sound bytes. It's a garbled mess of trying to be over stimulating to children. It was around the time where every one of his youtube thumbnails had a picture of him with some weird face on it like someone had just asked him what 2+2 was.

I don't know what to do, I feel ashamed. I don't know how I can look my family in the eyes anymore. My girlfriend has called me a disappointment to the household. My dog won't even sit on my lap.

...I changed my Steering to Normal (as FWD Simulation steering was god awful), and have just Manual, not Manual w/ Clutch (as it also feels awful versus old Forzas).

I used to be a good gamer.

Future updates maybe?
I feel like it, that they will add layout to tracks as times passes by as well
Traxion review:
Of course the company that just happens to launch a LeMans 24 game later this year and strole most of the cut content of the new game (Motorsport Games), trashes its main track rival for holidays
This is very different than the set career mode in GT7.
GT7 also add new events as times goes by
It looks like the game is pretty universally disliked…
I was expecting for it, they wanted AC but Xbox exclusive
GT Fanboys are going to use it to their advantage tho...

These people expect Forza to review as poorly as a game like Crew Motorfest which is packed with microtransactions from day one.
Some people assumed The Crew would be better lol
the entire race is basically chicane plus two oval style corners and yet it's quite fun to do.
I am glad that Forza has their version of the Beginner Course, and ONE THAT LETS YOU USE THE OVAL
I've given up on believing any real consensus on reviews
I knew it would be divisive, i just hope the launch be good enough, FM needs a good launch to stay alive
