Looks like the gauge cluster is broken in the Alfa Romeo Giulia. No backlight and it looks like is leaking water upside down!

Yeah, i don't know why but certain cars definitely benefit from lower tyre pressures. Just not sure what factors determine the reason but the difference in lap times is quite an eye opener.

Friction vs rolling resistance. These estimates are just calculations and must be taken with a grain of salt. A bit like PI-calculation this, they can be fooled.

I can't remember the last time I played this game (stopped right after they took my money away) and I was thinking of uninstalling it just to make space on my Series X

I just had a surprisingly fun time doing the Lancia career series. Great fun

I think I really like how tough it is to drive these cars stock and then slowly make them more drivable, more stable.

Can't wait to get back to it

I'm guessing it must have something to do with the new tyre physics. As i mentioned, in previous forzas 30=33psi was all you had to think about.

Not anymore, you need to run a load of laps with different pressures to find the ideal set up in FM23. I thought it might be track dependant but i don't think it is

In terms of how things work in the real world, I'd expect:

Lighter weight = lower pressure better

Wider tyre = lower pressure better

So if you upgrade a car by reducing the weight, and making the tyres wider, I'd expect the optimal tyre pressure to reduce. Is that consistent with your testing?

Yeah, B, A and S class remains what Forza does best. In that respect, an entire month of hypercars in the time-limited tours was a really bad choice.

I recommend ignoring the tours and just playing Quick Play races in the car of your choice. It gives credits and carXP and you can enjoy cars you like rather than relying on tours with their specific car class requirements.

Will FM get a stream this friday or coming monday? The update is out on Tuesday the 13th (i think).

Or will it be a concise Youtube video like Update 4 got in January?

I would prefer both, especially since T10 can address the big issues (on video) and maybe even show a roadmap.
But at the same time, it could also lead to a lot of name calling and harassment.

Wider tyres, no. Not from what i can tell anyway.

Lower weight, quite possibly. i can't believe i didn't think of that before lol as the exocet and honda weigh next to nothing.

It will probably be a concise YouTube video, like from update 4.0

I thought after I posted that wider tyres might not have much impact on optimal pressure for cars. For bicycle tyres it does, because they're formed into a fairly circular cross sectional shape. But car tyres are formed into a cross sectional shape with more defined corners, so the sidewall flex under vertical load is probably pretty independent of the tyre width.

I think we will get a sneak peek late Thursday or sometime Friday which is what usually happens.

I’m fine with just the video, the last one was good.

Important bits:

Firstly, we will remove the locked part mechanic so all car parts can be accessed at Car Level 1 for every car in the game. Once a car is added to your car collection, you can install upgrades to it in any order that you wish. Whether it's engine swaps, race tires, aspiration changes, body kits or any other part available for your vehicle, you will have the freedom to build cars your way.

Secondly, in addition to earning Car Points through levelling up the car, you will be able to use in-game Credits to acquire Car Points. This means you can begin to immediately install upgrades to your car if you have sufficient Credits or if you would rather save your Credits, you can still earn car parts through car leveling as before.

We’re testing a ratio of 4,500 Credits for 500 Car Points and based on the feedback we’ve collected, we expect this to provide a healthy balance. That means if you’re upgrading the 2021 Volkswagen Golf R with all available parts at Level 1, for example, it will cost 89,775 Credits. In the case of the 2021 BMW M4 Competition Coupé, for all parts it amounts to 125,325 Credits, or for the 1969 Nissan Fairlady Z 432, it totals to 133,875 Credits.

There was nothing wrong with the current system after they tweaked it the first time and it allowed people to learn the car and how it handled before just throwing parts at it and going fast.

All it took was a little effort to earn the points to upgrade the car and it forced people to improve on their driving skills and increase CarXP to be able to level up and install better parts. I don't play multiplayer much, but I imagine it's about to get full of people who put in no effort and just barrel down the track in the fastest car possible.

Nobody has time to spend hours grinding their way to unlocking parts EVERY SINGLE TIME when they pick a different car. Especially when you're essentially being railroaded into a different car type for the Builders Cup events.

I like these changes.

All the whiners 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the majority you mean, not this small echo chamber.

I am glad they finally changed it.

With all the credits I got from that early Wheelspinning glitch, I can now have fun in the game playing online, taking photos, and chasing Rival times.

I've mentioned before but I don't have a problem with the system itself, but it was implemented poorly. I think these updates gives a good offramp for those that don't enjoy it currently, and in fact I think they provide a good long term solution for players who spend a lot of time in multiplayer accumulating credits but not necessarily levelling up cars in a meaningful way (think TC and GT lobbies).

Honestly it wasn't just "whiners" it was the vast majority of FM players. They could NOT ignore this criticism if they want the game to thrive.

While I agree you shouldn't have to unlock parts for the same car if you purchase another, but it made sense for a different car. All of them handle differently.

I never saw it as a grind and it doesn't take hours, at least it didn't for me. I'm able to get a car up to at least level 10 by the end of a few practice sessions and races.

How were you able to keep your credits? I'm so jealous because they took mine away and left me with only 2 million.

As far as the changes go:

I did like the system after the first change and thought it was great but it seems like they are understanding that the majority of the player base can't devote as many hours to racing as we would like.

I agree with a lot of what that one poster said but I don't quite agree with him calling people "whiners"

If I'm understanding it right, it sounds like car points are now essentially the metric of how many parts you can install at once, and credits can be used as an alternative.

Sounds a lot like FM4's manufacturer affinity discounts to me, and in a good way - you can splash out and install a lot of parts right away, or get acquainted with the car and earn them for free.
