Forza

I played the game LeMans 24 Hours for 24 Hours staright on the Le Mans course with the occasional saves. I went 25 laps every time before pitting.and 25 laps were only about 45-1 hour in the Audi R8 (2001).

However, I hope more Infield type courses become available.

Ah, racing Desert Speedway for 24 hours on Sports Car GT was fun!

I hope something like that becomes available. I also would like to see some more popular courses (no offense)

Now that I can do with saves in between.

Just thought I post the new Forza pics...

Wow...

Forza is defiantly looking very solid, especially when you consider they still have quite a bit of time to work on the game! I hope the gameplay holds up to the visuals, still have yet to walk down the my local store and pick up the latest OXM, and I hope it can still be accessible and fun to an racing sim noobie like me.

The only complaint I can make on those visuals is the fact they don't look very realistic, don't take that the wrong way, but they seem to missing something that PD has nailed down for GT4. Other than that, the textures, lighting and car models all look great!

Holt

Very nice indeed!, the game looks great, 2005 will be an excellent year for car enthusiasts, getting GT4 and Forza, and already having PGR2 and GT3 what more can you ask if you like cars!!!

The car models aren't very accurate and the car textures make every car look like it's made of plastic... I hope they put more work into the reflections, car models, and textures... I'm looking forward to the game, I just wish the cars were more accurate...

;)

Gotta love the Hasseroder sponsorship surviving intact on the BMW. One of my video game pet peeves is that the alcohol/tobacco sponsors get removed.

True. 👍 Although it does have quite a lot of unpopular teams. I mean, the Audi Derek Bell drove is in (maybe not the exact one), and a few.

That G35 Coupe looks like a player-created model from the old Need For Speed 3 PC days. I don't see how that's impressive, unless you're going by 1998 standards.

That's what I was going to say, but the tracks and environments look gorgeous.

so agreed that the cars suck, VERY PLASTIC :yuck: but hey, it's microsoft, what u expect, can't match up against the PD of Japan!

gotta love the S4...love Audi's

the track being gorgeous is useless...it's gonna blast pass so fast u don't notice if it's pixelated. well..depends what type of turn u goin thru...and what skill u have...

I agree, thats shocking.

Some nice pic in there, but some are abit off or awfull.

Today I'm gonna lay my hands on Forza's demo - Laguna Seca only and few cars, so expect some ipressions tomorrow.

I'll try to gt some pictures too, but I will not promise nothing because I must find a way to grab a pics from my Xbox.

Those Forza pics sure look nice! Most likely even better when they're moving. There is something that doesn't seem to sit right in the pictures on the forest track, but I'm not sure what it is...

One thing I find a bit objectionable is in the picture of the GT-One going off the track. Skid marks on dirt?! Mmm, looks like berber...

dunkee
Forza looks better darker but that's not the way the game really looks...why did you include a GT4 pic at the bottem?

On the left side of the screen it's GT4 demo and on the right side it's Forza.
When I took the widescreen shot, I wanted also to post a GT4 picture to do a fair comparaison

Symtex. Nice comparison pics. I played the demo yesterday and it has some pros and cons. I posted a review in the review section. Graphics are good but the way the car handles needs some work. THe full game will probably clean up any of the bad handling that is on the Forza demo. I am still excited about this game. Just disappointed in the demo.

I've not played the GT4 Demo.. but I have had Prologue for several months and have enjoyed playing it with my DFP. GT4P is so much better than GT:C in physics.. and GT:C was much improved over GT3... it is said the GT4 demo is even further ahead of GT4P so I really can't see how some are saying it feels close to GT3. GT4P felt so much better than GT3 it was akin to the difference between GT2 and GT3... they felt so different from one another.

As for Forza, no wheel is going to let it down completely. It's appealing feature is the engine swap function which would be quite nice. I am however expecting that feature to end up NFSU style and some crappy things will be involved and it'll probably allow you to put engines in cars that could not realistically hold them. The degree of detail required to swap an engine and to allow engine swaps to go smoothly on all cars in a game is going to be massive.. I just don't see them noting those kind of variables down and taking them into consideration. It will be a basic x HP engine in x drivetrain chassis with car weighing x + engine weight type calculation. It wont take into consideration anything but those basic things... and that I don't feel is enough to satisfy me when it comes to engine swaps. Whilst I know that if engine swapping came into a GT game it would be far more detailed with many more things required than just removing engine and putting in new engine.

But anyway.. as for Forza's look... I still don't go for it... as I've said before GT4 has the right depth and looks 'right' for the most part. Almost all of the city tracks in Forza remind me of ancient games renditions of large cities.. it just doesn't feel right. There are times in GT4 you look at it and it looks so close to real you really appreciate what they have done... I just don't seem to feel that with Forza... it looks like it's a game... it also has a very 'Xbox' feel to it's graphics. The cars look great one second then from another angle they look completely out of place... some car models look well done and others look poor... there is no continued standard throughout all of the game... it's very variable.

The sounds I have heard sound very nice, but if we go by videos alone the sounds from GT4P I have heard in videos sound easily as good... Playing GT4P myself I have been happy with the sounds so far, although a lot of the ones in GT4P are from GT3 still.

As for the interface.. I absolutely love the HUD on GT4 it has everything you want and without compromising your vision. It's not quite as impressive as the HUD in HalfLife2 for example as that's extreme minimalist perfection... but they are completely different genres... Compared to the Forza HUD I'd take GT everytime.

I'm sure all you Xbox owners will get Forza and enjoy it... but Forza is not a console seller like GT has been. The reason I had a Playstation was for GT, I hated most of the other games.. clearly the Saturn was superior for games just GT made me get a Playstation. I got a PS2 purely for GT3... and I was amazingly happy with it.. Even now GT3 is still probably the best current driving game of it's style... of course you have GT-R etc. but that's a different style of game. I don't envisage seeing Forza, trying it out then thinking "omg I have to buy an Xbox to get this game". However I can easily see Xbox owners seeing and trying GT4 with a DFP and thinking "screw Forza I'm getting a PS2 with a DFP for GT4".

When GT4 finally gets into my hands I will be very pleased.. to me I am already sold into buying it... I don't care about no online play I do not need that to enjoy it.

Also don't forget not to compare Forza on a pad to GT4 on a pad... cause GT4 wasn't made for a pad. Try and compare Forza on whatever controller is available for it, to GT4 on the DFP... you'll soon feel why GT4 is superior.

For the love of god, at leats get your facts right before posting.

GTP is pretty different to the final thing (the nurb demo), but GTP feels alot like GTC if you ask me.

As for Forza, no wheel is going to let it down completely.

There are wheels on the xbox :P. You mean a force feed back wheel :P

Once again, get your facts right :P. I can't even be bothered to explain why your wrong. You just are ok. Just because it's not GT DOESN'T mean the devs are n00bs who know nothing about cars. Lets remember that GT is the game with "turbo stage 4", so it's not exactly the UB3R mod sim you make it out to be. At least they bother with tyre heat etc :P

But anyway.. as for Forza's look... I still don't go for it... as I've said before GT4 has the right depth and looks 'right' for the most part. Some games just don't look as good as others. Forza has tons of detail, and some snazzy special effects, but it's let down by awful colours, and jaggys. Oh and the rubbish frame rate. Gt looks good because it cheats, it fakes effects etc, and it's pretty low quality compared to alot of todays stuff, but as I've said before, PD have fantastic art direction.

The sounds I have heard sound very nice, but if we go by videos alone the sounds from GT4P I have heard in videos sound easily as good... Playing GT4P myself I have been happy with the sounds so far, although a lot of the ones in GT4P are from GT3 still.

Gt4 sounds like crap. Forza sounds pretty damn good. Simple as.

Umm they are pretty similar...speedo, gears, lap times etc...

Also don't forget not to compare Forza on a pad to GT4 on a pad... cause GT4 wasn't made for a pad. Try and compare Forza on whatever controller is available for it, to GT4 on the DFP... you'll soon feel why GT4 is superior.

Oh dear god...

Listen, I think GT4 will be better (heck I've played most of the demos now, and I can pretty much tell you it will be), but I don't feel the need to type made up crap. Take heed.

...it's pretty low quality compared to alot of todays stuff...

Ugh, it's comments like these that ruin someone's credibility. Is it that hard for you to say that GT4's graphics look 'good'? Even if it doesn't match up with what Forza may be capable of, it still will look amazing.

When you say something is 'crap' when it clearly isn't, that's when you show your biases and prejudices.

Someone from this site captured some sounds from the latest GT4 demo and posted them and I can safely say GT4 does NOT sound like crap. There are some amazing engine noises in the latest GT4 demo.

Don't worry about Code,he mainly only posts negativity towards GT in general. I honestly don't know why he dosen't find a s#*t box err X-box forum.

Yup that is true most of the time he is quite negative. Still not negative enough for my ignore list though. But close.

Just thought I'd chime in with my opinion...

I just got the Forza demo and have been playing it quite a bit. I'm very impressed with - i'm loving using the triggers for throttle and braking! IMO, the cars look a little plasticy... hard to explain, it just doesn't seem like the lighting is quite right. Also, it *seems* like I'm going slower than the speedometer actually says. Those are just two small gripes and demo definetely convinced me to buy Forza when it comes out (being able to do engine swaps is just too cool!... oh, and I'm a huge fan of online competition). :)

Keep in mind, I havn't played any of the GT4 demos so I can't comment on how Forza and GT4 compare...

A bunch of guys over on the GTX have given the demo good reviews, although I'm wondering if it's moreso simply because of the fact online was dropped from GT4, and that seems to be *the* most important thing to some people. I'm gonna pick up the demo and use the roomie's XBox to see.

As for the engine swaps... pfft, we've done that since GT1 ;). And as someone mentioned, for that feature to be done properly, there will have to be a lot of investigation on the developer's side. Look at TXR3... Twinturbo V8 in a Cappuccino? Er...

online is a big deal to a lot of people. But in this case, ignorance is bliss. If you haven't played online, you don't get why people think it's so great, and it won't bother you to have it excluded from a particular game you like.

But once you start playing online, the lure is too strong to stay away. In many games, it eclipses the single player experience, however solid, because the thrill of playing other people anytime just kicks the crap out of playing A.I.

And as far as engine swaps go, the devs mentioned that they were taking it seriously, meaning no unrealistic modding, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
