Forza

No, because PD is telling us in advance that there will be an online version later, so you can wait and just buy one copy if you so choose. With Forza's d/l content, you'd have to buy both if you want everything.

Between you and me will you really wait for the online version ? come on. I don't understand your analogy at all. Since when offering additonal download content is a bad thing ? Gosh you guys are something....*shakes heads*

I will never pay a subscription to play online games.... ever. I already pay for broadband and for the games but I wont pay extra for the priviledge to play the game (that I already payed for) online.

I have tons of PC games that I play online without extra charges.

I agree. Just another way for the game creators to get more money. Most in-game online features suck anyway. I came across a NFS:U forum the other day and the members where saying that it's the worst game in the series. and the online game play was absolutely terrible. the sequel must be twice as worse. But it's ea's fault, not sony's. Not all in-game online features are bad.

same here, one of the reasons i don't own a fat box or play any MMORPGs

Compare to Sony online infrastructure, I will tell you that paying 4.95 / month to play xbox live is worth every penny. Every game you play online has the same structure : Quick Match, Optimatch, Voice chat and Friend List. You can always see what game your friends play and you can invite them to join whatever game you are playing.

I know alot of you guys will complain about no wanted to hear the annoying people online. I agree that is why you can always mute someone. Once you make some good friends online, You will love the voice chat. I only play with friends now. There is ton of car fanatic online and fun it's to talk about car between two races.

I was as sckeptical too before I got xbox live. I had the same argument against it. Why should I pay blah blah blah. I got the chance to be a beta tester on xbox live and it change my minds. The service is great, It's always up and running. You always know also they need to pass the xbox live approval. No more crappy developper with a barely minimal online option.

un_peacekeeper
but it isn't really worth it when u don't have too many live enabled games...and xboxconnect probably can't get the patches...and updates.

Xboxconnect lags like crazy compare to xbox live plus you don't have voice chat unless you use something like teamspeak. All you need is one good xbox live games. You can also always rent a game before buying it.

I don't want to sound too fanboy here but xbox live is a really good product. I have tried to play some ps2 game online but every game you need to create account on different server and you have to build friend list when there is such option. I almost never play online with the PS2. I have bough the adapter with GT4 in mind.

same here, one of the reasons i don't own a fat box or play any MMORPGs

oh dear....

You get what you pay for, simple as.

When downloadable content costs money, ITS A CHOICE. It's your choice, don't want it? Don't pay, but from what I've seen, most games have free content. It's like an expansion pack.

And fatbox? My gawd....that's the most stupid thing I've heard...today.

IMO, xbox live is one of the best things to come out of this console generation.

I don't think I'd have an xbox if it wasn't available.

And to those that say the features are crappy or that there aren't enough games, just stop and think before you speak. I have too many good live games to keep track of, and considering that online play seriously destroys any free time I have, that argument just falls flat.

Don't pay if you don't like the idea, but don't start bashing it because it works almost flawlessly (except for the griefers out there, but hey, that's not really something that is controllable).

I have got 2 years of x-box live and the live kit from my DSL provider for free! (SBC Yahoo) It was a promotional deal for signing up for their pro package which is the highest speed they carry. Ya, I have to pay a couple of bucks more a month on my bill but considering I have my cell phone, landline, internet and satellite for my TV (dish ntwk) through the same company they take off a major amount and it all come on one bill which is paid online. I like X-Live Halo 2 is damn good! Toca race driver 2 is fair and would be awesome if I could use my pro wheel! I have quite a few other titles that is supported by live. I also have the PS2 hooked up and race Nascar 2005 on it and it does support the wheel. It is a blast especially when you get some friends on there, Oh and by the way Just because it says Nascar on it don't mean there aren't road courses. Great game if given the chance! Not to mention I also have a Game Cube too! I have all of the bases covered just bring on the console wars because the consumer always gets the best when to major consoles are out doing and cutting prices on each other!

I will just stick to my PC and pay nothing.

Yep. That's a good option as well.

Anyway, I've been playing the demo a bit more this weekend, and it's growing on me. Maybe I'm just getting used to the controls, but it's actually very fun and I've had some tight races with the A.I.

I don't feel that the A.I. is up to par with TOCA 2 so far, but it's definately a blast to duke it out with them in the corners.

My favourite car is the Nissan 350Z, it's the easiest to drive smoothly and also gives a satisfying bit of oversteer on corner exits. I wish there was a replay option in the demo though, because I've had some awesome moments I wanted to watch again.

Except fo consistent updates for the PC, I forgot to mention my online play with the pc mostly at blackholemotorsports.com and yes i have some great games with it but I cant sit in front of a 60 inch monitor and have the football game in the small pip at the same time. Let's see, I have had my original PS2 for umm well along time and I haven't installed an upgrade in it yet! The same with my other consoles. I agree the PC games are great and on the racing side of things are very well in depth I love using the Act-labs with the gated six speed shifter it is awesome! but I also spent quit a bit for the set up and have added many upgrades to my PC. Consoles are cheaper even if they cut a game in half (like GT4) and sell it as two games to make more money.

Since they pushed GT4 to Febuary.....one of the eb representatives told me that they reason Sony did that was to put the online version back into the game......even if they dont, they will have LAN connections, so technically GT4 will still be able to play online either way......I've also been looking through Forza Motorsport as well......I think it looks like a well made game but

+I think the graphics for the car are too shiny/cell shaded.
+Most people will probably not buy the game unless online was free...because some ppl cant afford to play online, and thats probably all they want to do.
+I don't think people/kids like damage on cars, or a wheel flying off there car if they turn to hard.
+I don't know why ppl are crying over body kits and damages on there cars so much but, it's suppose to be meant for simulation, and not crash and burn.....besides in real life, most professional drivers dont slap on any name brand kits for there cars, they put stuff on there cars that give them better performance.
+GT4 will probably have better driving physics than Forza because, GT has had experience for some time now.

Well anyways, I think GT4 will be better due to graphics, lan capabilites(or at least i hope), different modes u can play on, car theaters, the missions there gonna have in the game, and theres gonna be hard as computers for you to play against..........No one can really tell how good Forza is gonna be, just cuzz of graphics.....it might be like a need for speed or some dumb crap...but no one knows till it comes out.......

I've played the Forza demo... its nothing like Need for Speed.

I love the GT series, I own them all, I'm going to buy GT4 regardless... but I fully realise that Forza has stuff that GT4 could only dream of having (and vicre versa)

Also, about the damage... even you say its a simulation... since when did driving into a wall at 150mph and having nothing happen to your car 'simulate' real life? 💡

So you mean to say driving with a GAME PAD in front of a 21" screen is simulation?

And besides GT4 is supposed to be a Driving Simulator and not a "Crashing" Simulator. Its about learning the perfect racing line, mastering it and driving as accurately as possible. It means by all means to avoid Crashes (with the 10 second penalty *in prologue*). I dont mean to say that theres no need to have damage in a simulator game, but trust me, its too hard to actually simulate damage modelling. So unless "damage modelling" is well made, theres no point in having it half measured.
I havent played Forza yet, BUT I am sure its a brilliant game, I just bought an Xbox few days back just for Forza Motorsports. But what pisses me off is some people (fanboys) dont even want to tilt towards the other console or game even though its actually as good or better.
Anyway I am not here to argue or anything, my main reason to visit this thread was to ask about the Forza's OXM Demo. A friend just gave me the iso file of this demo, I'd appreciate it if someone can guide me on how to burn it on a DVD and play it on the BOX.

I hate these threads, "VS." You see them on the Forza forums too. "GT4 VS Forza"
Talk about a waste of bandwidth. This site is for GT4 fans, most people here arent going to give it [Forza] props like they ought to. Hell, I bet some even hate xbox (since they dont own one).
Needless to say, my opinion, these are both awesome games. On a side note-- they are two different games. So its pointless to say "GT4 has 'this' while forza doesnt! Ha!" Vice versa

If you read the beginning of the thread you will see that opinion have started to change since the demo has come out. I think that overall Microsoft invested alot of money in this new franchise. Realisticly, the game will be an overall excellent product with a few flaws. Since Sega GT Online, There was no game that came close to anything like the GT series. It's going to be a huge success for xbox.

If you read the developper comments when ask if Forza was a "GT Killer", he responded that his was not gunning to reproduce the GT series but to create a new experience. After I play the demo, I have to agree, The game feel and play different than the GT series.

Official car list of Forza Motorsport.

Ferraris are heavily in. Lots of nice cars are in. Hope that game will be better then demo is.

Has Microsoft announced that it is the final car list or is it the cars
which are known so far ?

Where did you get the info ?

hello,
well, nice car list, but 3 times the Audi R8 in Forza is as useless as 10 times the Nissan NSX in GT4.
Furthermore, i don't like the graphics of Forza. It's not as photorealistic as GT4 ones. But it looks also better, than anything else before.

This morning, a friend told me, that he has read in one of the XBox-Developer-Boards, that Forza will be delayed from February 05 to April 05. Has anyone more information about this fact?

I heard from a guy that works on a Forza site it has been delayed in Europe
and probably the rest of the world. According to him, the new release date will be announced this week or next week and the new release date is definitely before
E3 2005.
