Forza

I heard from a guy that works on a Forza site it has been delayed in Europe
and probably the rest of the world. According to him, the new release date will be announced this week or next week and the new release date is definitely before
E3 2005.

hasnt the release date been floating around Q1 2005 for some time now?

According to a Gamespot video interview from october and the official XBOX site
www.xbox.com, the release date is february 2005.

I have not seen any info about a release date later than february until now.

hello,
well, nice car list, but 3 times the Audi R8 in Forza is as useless as 10 times the Nissan NSX in GT4.
Furthermore, i don't like the graphics of Forza. It's not as photorealistic as GT4 ones. But it looks also better, than anything else before.

This morning, a friend told me, that he has read in one of the XBox-Developer-Boards, that Forza will be delayed from February 05 to April 05. Has anyone more information about this fact?

Nissan NSX.
That'll happen when Honda and Nissan become desprate.

Anyways, the publisher has said that Forza will not be delayed, or should not.

Very impressive car list Amar. Thanks for posting. I agree with you, I really hope the game is better than the demo. It sure looks like a great game and I am sure I will buy it but wow the demo blows. 👎

May i know what you didn't like about the demo ? I though it showed a game with a great potential. The car physic was spot on if you ask me and just need a few tweak. As far as graphics are concern, Laguna Seca is pretty bland track in real life so i think the demo was an accurate representation of the track.

You guys keep forgetting the demo is at least 6 month old.

**** forza gt4 will be the racing game to follow for the rest of the pack:) :)

Look around. There is been more talk about Forza Motorsports on this forum then any other topics. PD better come with one hell of an online expension.

I already posted why I think the demo sucks in the review of the forza demo disk. No need to discuss it again.

And besides GT4 is supposed to be a Driving Simulator and not a "Crashing" Simulator. Its about learning the perfect racing line, mastering it and driving as accurately as possible. It means by all means to avoid Crashes (with the 10 second penalty *in prologue*). I dont mean to say that theres no need to have damage in a simulator game, but trust me, its too hard to actually simulate damage modelling. So unless "damage modelling" is well made, theres no point in having it half measured.

well said...i think that either make the damage realistic or not at all. and if u are a great driver, u never get to "enjoy" this feature anyway...

Even the best drivers, including Michael Schumacher, crashes sometimes.

It's the old "just because GT doesn't have it, lets pretend it's not needed".

Crash damage is fun and makes races more interesting.

LOL !!! Next thing we know online is not needed...*shake heads*

I'd love damage in gt4 and it's great forza has it but honestly, forza's damage isn't all that amazing. We should get to a point in racing were hitting a wall at 50mph should mean game over. I have been playing the latest gtr demo lately, trying to master the lister and what not. I believe the demo I have doesn't do damage or maybe I haven't found the option but anyway, I have seen gtr trailers, some with damage being shown and I was not impressed with the damage at all. Hopefully next gen racers will have real damage.

This is true, this is very, very true. Forza is looking like a bargin bin buy. The demo was poor and I won't be touching it a good 6-8 months after release, then if I want to try out the full game, and thats a big 'IF'... I can pick it up on the cheap for a £10. :sly:

You have to remind yourself it's a videogame. What fun would it be to race online an crash on the first lap out of 100 laps ? Waiting for the race to end. You've got to draw somewhere.

I wouldn't mind :D If you make a mistake after 100 laps, LOL@ you :D If pd indeed does damage for gt5, imagine how good it will be

But I hope you disagree with the part where he stated "GT4 will be the game that follows the rest of the pack." I totally disagree with him. GT4 will be the LEADER of the pack (more specifically the PS2, XBOX pack) because it's obviously the most advanced.

If Gt5 had damage, all the fanboys would change their tune very quickly...

Forzas damage isn't 100% realistic, but what IS 100% realistic in ANY game? Nothing.

because it's obviously the most advanced.

Replace advanced with "better", and I would agree.

Imagine crashing in a lmp car in gt5 on the nurb :D Fire will have to be involve and what about the driver? Omg, gt5 has to be M rated!!!!

That's if PD can even be bothered :P

"oh no dear fellow, it's not a racing or a crashing sim! It's a driving sim"

While I like having 700 cars etc, I would prefer 300 decent cars, and amazing crash damage.

what made you think PD will do better with car damage ? If you have read the CVG Forza interview this week, Microsoft had more idea for Forza that they could implement. The scope of what they're trying to achieve is greater then what the first installement will have.

With all next-generation console, we will see tremendous improvement in all aspect. Not just Playstation 3 but with Xbox next and Nintendo Revolution.

I have the Forza demo. I haven't spent a lot of time with it, because I rented Burnout 3. (Awesome Game)

Anyway Pros:

-Damage model is neat. I like how the paint rubs off on barriers when you hit them.

-The customisation looks pretty cool.

-Graphics look more surrealistic than realistic. The graphics are good, but not as realistic as those in even GT3. This is not so much a technical limitation as a chosen art style. I really like the glare effect the sun has on the cars for some reason.

-Engine sounds are excellent as are the other sound effects.

-The menu music in the demo is catchy. Custom soundtracks will give Forza a leg up on the competition for sure.

Cons:

-I don't like the Controller S for driving games. I know it's not an actual con per se, but it does negatively affect my opinion.

-I'm not a big fan of any of the camera angles in the demo.

-Is it possible to drift in this game? It seems impossible to turn while braking. (I notice no difference with or without ABS.

All in all, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy Forza when I'm done with GT4. Looks like a solid addition to the XBOX racing scene.

Yes you can easily drift on the demo. I actually thought about making some videos of drifting just to get me interrested more in the demo but I doubt i will waste my time with it. You have to turn the traction and stability off to do it.

Re: The Downloadable Content Debate

Long time listener, first time poster. As far as that interview goes, it sounded like he was referring less to Downloadable Cars and Tracks but more to a much more intriguing possibility: to upload your car and have more experienced players tune it for you. For someone like myself, who loves playing games like this but has very little real world car tuning experience, this option seems invaluable. Feel free to call it a total n00b feature, but it seems like great way for someone to get closer to abandoning their n00b tendencies and actually figuring out how this stuff works first hand under the guidance of someone who knows more than you. The online package for Forza seems a lot more interested in building a gaming community than offering up a new car for a few bucks every month.

That being said, I'm getting both games whenever they come out. I'm partial to XBL, so I'm not too worried about GT4 being offline only, as that will be the permanent status of my PS2 anyway.

I'm aware of the new powers that are coming. I'm just saying with pd, damage if they want it would be very interesting and to imagine the quality of visuals gt5 will have, wooot! Ok, let me chill on this gt5 subject, let me finish gt4 first :)

forza will be the game for you then code. I love the 700 cars 👍 Can't wait to drive a 74 2002 bmw. I learned how to drive with that car so I want to recreate the experience in gt4 :D

Both are the game for me, but I wish PD would make it abit more exciting, I want massive speeds, amazing damage, and super evil AI.
