Forza

Actually it was two brands, one was a Porsche and the other was a Ferrari, two cars was acceptable back then anyway, many games had only one like Outrun and Nitro cruise.

GT Obsession
I saw the Forza Motorsports (XBox's GT4 killer) video today and it looks quite impressive. I have been a GT fan since the first entry in the series. Do you think that Forza poses any threats to GT4? I'm worried that Forza will be the top name instead of GT.

Indeed, Forza has the graphics to beat GT4, the cars to beat GT4 and ofcourse it has DAMAGE on the cars!

Unless it is as extreme as Burnout 3, or real-time like Gran Turismo 5, I say screw it, because it's pretty much pointless, just makes your car look terdy.

You are one of thoes too fanboyish fanboys I was talking about in the other post, you won't accept anything to be as good as or better than Gran Turismo, the first of your two posts confirm that.

Ah, personally, I'm going to reserve judgement on the issue of damage in Forza until I see it. Frankly, 'truly realistic' damage can't be reflected in a computer program because there are simply too many variables. You never see the exact same damage pattern in real life, all computers can do right now is give a reasonable representation.

Another point, I've never seen windows break out or doors fly open in a real race... ;)

Nothing TRULY realistic can be reflected in a computer game as there are too many variables.

Cmon, people your talking about GRAN TURISMO!!

Gran Turismo IS Gran Turismo.

Just admit it, NOTHING COMPARES!

Ever played a pc sim? Thought not.

Yes but my old PC wheel doesn't work anymore so I'm waiting til I get GT4 and the DFP before I play it again, keyboard controls are pointless in a true sim.

if you like unrealistic visuals I guess forza has the better graphics but maybe you mean better graphics from a tech stand point and while forza does have damage, it's totally arse compared to xpand's damage. forza's damage system is nothing but the sequel to pgr2's damage systems

forza's braking work is over done imo. just tapping the brake envokes tire marks. forza's physics are far from complex. I question if weight is actually a factor in forza's physics. Try forza and race a Evo VIII on the Seca and tap the brakes on the major turn(forgot the name) over and over and all your car does is lose traction. In gt3, if you were to do that, that car would turn into a sexy seesaw.

Unrealistic visuals ?!

Judging from the screenshot above Forza is above and beyond any visuals GT can produce. The lighting is perfect on that bently as are the textures, show me a GT shot than comes close to the shot above and i'll be suprised.

It's totally "arse"

I'm glad we have such a refined expert on damage within consoles so why don't you explain to everyone on this board why Forza Motorsports damage system is "arse" because as far as I'm aware you have not seen the finished product.

Because as far as I can tell the damage system is damn sight better than Gran Turismo's blur the camera when you hit somthing.

As far as I can tell both games will be excellent but will excel in different areas, and provide the gamer with totally different experiances. I'm just looking forward to getting my hands on the 2 finished products, and finally playing the hype.

Good post by Front. I'm looking forward to both as well. And I'm looking forward even more to FM2 on Xbox3 with some proper peripherals. For some reason I think their development and design direction is more akin to what I'd like to see.

Front, excellent post. Unfornately, some people have been kssing KY's arse so, long, they can't realise GT isn't the best simulator out there and that it has its flaws.

I the light illumination is far from perfect my friend. Seeing how it looks very fake and unconvincing compared to gt4. The textures are good but that's about it while light illumination and color usage isn't accurate.

Compared to a damage system like xpand's, it's arse. No console racer can do realistic damage, period. nex gen maybe

Yea, it's good to have damage but I can still judge it

and that's what I have to say

before you post can you please prove the above quote with a screenshot, because to my eyes that bently is lighting is better than Gran Turismo 4.

Please explain how you can judge an unfinished product ?!

That' like me saying Gran Turismo's 5 damage system is "arse" even though i've not seen the finished product...

HOW WOULD I KNOW !!!

Cobra your posts are obviously from a very fanboyish perspective and I have great difficulty reading them as you make vauge references to random things then don't explain yourself.

Please provide facts and back yourself up quotes like..

it's totally arse
only hurt your already tarnished reputation in these Forza threads.

I dont use pics are reference so you might want to get some vids of forza instead of doctored pics. I dont care if forza isn't finished, the damage will be arse. do you really think it's gonna be realistic damage? Hitting a wall at 120mph gives you a nice little dark spot on your front bumper in forza, now I have heard about 3 options of damage level but I dont care how many levels the game has, the damage will still be far from realistic. I'm simply comparing forza's damage to xpand's damage.

Can you say biased?

And the we're comparing GT4 to Forza, not Forza to Xpand.

And fod god's sake, quit being a graphics whore.

Does it have flaws, sure. Is there a better sim on any console availible right now? Nope.

McLaren F1GTR
ON console, no. But the best sim on anything? Still no.

Right, but it's a console game, so why compare it to PC games?

Yet, comapring an early build that's been shown to be re-done to completed games is right?

Its like comparing an acorn nut to an acorn tree.

The nut hasn't finished, yet the tree is.

Now that makes the most sense of anything you've said so far. There's not judging Forza till we get a final build.
