Forza

I know what I'm talking about code. How does it pwn it code? By looking more unrealistic? Too bad that can't be said once the games are in motion.

I do agree that GT4 has a more realistic look about it, but I think Forza has better graphics.

And when you say graphics, you mean from a tech standpoint correct? In visuals(the actual look) gt4 wins hands down. How could you go wrong with realistic visuals in a "racer." All that power the xb has, and forza comes off looking like that........and didn't the developers promise the most realistic visuals?

Well the fact that it's about umpteen times more detail. I'm not saying the Gt4 one looks bad, but in that shot, forza does look better tbh, I'm not saying it does normally, because it doesn't, but that's a VERY flattering shot.

Cobra you simply don't get it do you. GT4 looks like it does because of ART DIRECTION. Technically it's pretty damn good too, smoother graphics, fast frame rate, but the textures are pretty lousy, the audio is weak, hell it can only have ONE of some cars on track at once. PD are masters of getting great looking graphics out of weak systems. Forza looks like it does because A. the devs aint as good as PD in the art direction, 2. It has to do stuff like damage, decent audio, more complex physics that take in to account stuff like tyre heat etc, then theres the stuff that breaks off the cars, more cars on tracks blah blah blah, all adds a performance hit. The xbox is hardly a super a computer.

GT4 is relativly plain in some ways, cars have no damage, no skid marks, low quality textures, low quality sound and only 6 cars on track at once (1 car in some cases), which means they can run it at a silky 60 fps, and it looks freaking great.

code!! I know the technical side of gt4 is lacking, no dymanic lighting, no b mapping, no reverse lights :P and not the best textures. Now in my replies, did I even suggest gt4 was technically better or great? Having damage doesnt mean the game has to look fake code. the developers could have used better colors and better light illumination. Honestly, even enthusia "in motion" looks more realistic.

From a technical standpoint Forza's graphics hump GT4's up the back passage no competition there, Forza's grapics in terms of what you see are very good, not as realistic as GT4's but still very good. As for the Power of the X-Box, Forza will be using a lot more of it for things like the AI and physics model which are far more advanced and take in far more factors than GT4's.

live4speed
The Speed 8 in Forza seems more detailed in that shot now the GT4 one has been enlarged. What you think of the lighting keep to yourself because the GT4 shot is too dark to make a proper judgment or comparison, but I do see alot more detain in the front of the Speed 8 in the Forza shot.
Not enlarged, reduced from the original(1280*960).

All was about the realistic visuals of the Bentley image. Forza have better technical detail(more polys, more resolution textures, more realtime effects, etc), but overall the visuals look less realistic than GT4.

Hahaha! Forza has not a chance!!! :D never! and this is a gt4 forum so I think all the forza fans should get out of here, thats what I think, Im out of here! bye bye... :)

wow...it's been a while.
What's up, code and Cobra?

Now Code...
Why do you say the textures are lousy?
and the audio? (that's hilarious!)

ARTWORK is the name of the game.
Games look better now on the current gen of consoles than they did 3 years ago because the developers have found clever ways of tricking your eyes.

I own a PS2, an XBox, and 2 pc's, and I have yet to see a more realistic and convincing videogame than GT3.
If you want the most realistic racer currently available for XBox, try Toca RD2...
better than Sega GT and almost feels like GT3. Of course, I have always been a TOCA fan, playing the first on the PlayStation.

You have yet to see a more realistic and convincing game than GT3, sorry but theres several on the PC that are more realistic than GT3, more recenly GTR has set the benchmark, GT3 isn't that realistic.

Why do you say the textures are lousy?
and the audio? (that's hilarious!)

Because they are low res and pixelated, and most of the cars sound pathetic. Gt3 was NEVER the most realistic sim, GPL was out before it. I'm not trying to bash GT4, I do think it looks good, but get real :P

ARTWORK is the name of the game.

I've said this about 3 billion times...

Who put that screenshot comparo together?
That's a great idea.

The Forza shot does show more detail in the textures (dirty and gritty),
while it's impossible to even see any of the textures in the GT pic.
BUT...
It is easy to tell the Forza pic is from a video game,
while the GT shot looks almost like a photo from Circuit De La Sarthe at night.

Now how can that be?

And yes, the Bentley did have luminescent numbers in real life.

I knew you were gonna spout off some crap about GP Legends.
That game is now an antique (albeit a classic great game.)
Formula1 and Grand Prix games are a dime-a-dozen.
I wish EA would get their act together and make their F1 game fun again.

Lo-res and pixelated, huh?
Didn't we already discuss the art?
There is nothing you can do about lo-res, chief.
You're playing it on a TV.

(EDIT)
I have often thought the colors in most XBox games were often too "flat."
It does seem that Forza has traversed to the other end of the scale.

Crap about GPL, it may be old but it's still more realistic than GT3, and GTR pisses all over it.

Are you sure about that?
Think about playing either one of those games on an Xbox when you could be playing Forza.
Or on a PS2 when you could be playing GRAN TURISMO 4.
Why would you waste your time?
Games that would require 20 hours to complete OR
games that take 200 hours to complete.
(200h is a conservative figure for GT4, VERY conservative)
Games with 25 cars OR
games with 500 cars?!
Games with 13 tracks OR
games with 60 tracks?

Devil who are you talking to, cos if your talking to me, a large car, championship and track count do not makea game any more realistic. What does GT4's car count have to do with how real the game is.

Yeah, but when I talk of a game being realistic I'm talking about the physics, GT3 is not that realistic in that way, GT4 still isn't as good as say GTR.

The reason why GT4 looks more realistic is because the people that made the game spent a long time on it. Forza is your typical Xbox title that is probably being rushed. It may have the Xbox's better power but the people making the game are no match for the guys at Polyphony that have had the funding from the sucess of the previous GT titles which is a fair bit of money. Project Gotham 2 was suprisingly a good racing game but I felt that it could have been a lot better. The replays just plain sucked in that game. I like racing games so either way I'll get Forza when it comes out...but I'll probably be playing GT4 more.

They are more complex, they take into account almost everything you can think of from tyre deformation (which is also included in Forza) to things like the aerodynamics of your car over all your car, GT4 uses a parameter for the front and another for the rear and thats it, every part of the cars body creates either lift or downforce games like GTR simulate that in it's entierity, I could go on but it's been covered a few times before in this thread and if people are really that interested in finding out if GT4 is so good they can find out for themselves.
