So, if the XBox is twice as powerful at everything than the PS2, why does it perform marginally better in some (not all) categories? Why does it get outperformed in some areas?
What is the practical point of the XBox hard-drive?
95%of XBox games would be the same without it.

All that really doesn't matter, though.
We all know that the games sell the system.
Show me where the XBox leads any category in the video game industry.
Otherwise, I'll just keep telling you why the PS2 is the system to have,
and why GT4 will be the game to play.

To mod it, oh and to save games. Hmm lets see, 8mb rip off card, or 10 gig hdd, geeee lemme think. Oh and I can copy my old ps1 games to the HDD, like the brilliant castlevania SOTN (I'm once again addicted to it), and play em on one system.

cobra, you always seem to confuse "difficulty" with "realistic physics".

Simply put, GTR's physics are much more advanced (not to mention a wee bit more comprehensive) than F355 (which was and still is a great game.)

Maybe so but if I was a betting man, I would bet f355 was closer to the real thing in race car physics. After a while with GTR, I can play it just like that. But every time I try out the f355 sim I'm constantly messing up! Like something new hits me everytime I play it

Have you even tried the arcade F355 sim? It's near impossible to play while I can hope in GTR just like that. F355's physics are beyond GTR's physics, period.

Here are some facts for you guys.

Technically the XBOX is a more powerful console than the PS2. FACT

Forza Motorsport does dedicate more raw computing power for graphics, sound, physics and AI than GT4. FACT

Forza Motorsport however, is not and will not be GT4 with all the things that GT4 should have had. It just looks very promising that's all. FACT

GT series has got an immense fanbase and pedigree, it's also the first game that invented the formula. FACT

GT4 has not met the expectations of may, it has upset fanbase with repeated delays and ambiguous promises in terms of features that have not been kept. FACT

Point is that until Forza is released nobody can make comparisons just assumptions. FACT

Now here's my wish. Before the next set of consoles is released I would like a driving simulation to keep me going. GT4 is not it, due to the 2 player omitted features the lifespan of GT4 is not worth my money. Why, because multiplayer is the way to go, single player is boring and old. I hope Forza will be the game I'm waiting for.

Ahh ok my bad. GTR is great, but I don't I'd enjoy it quite as much as GT games as I prefer the GT method of upgrading and making money more. I guess I just prefer racing more "normal" cars. Plus GT's easier XD, GTR is a spin-a-thon for me, unless I go into uber concentration mode. Which I cba to do.

By actually knowing what I'm talking about. I could club you to death with information about vehicle dynamics and simulation. My internet home is racesimcentral.com and I'm very interested in some of the projects there, like Racer, netKar, Live For Speed and WIP open source sim Motorsport and I read all the developers' posts and some of them have in-depth knowledge of other games and sims as well. Did you ever read RCVD, the bible of vehicle dynamics modeling and simulation? Well, I did.

I don't know much about graphics programming or real life bodykits, but I DO know a crapload about physics and simulation and if you in your infinite wisdom decide that F355 is better/more complex/more comprehensive/more realistic than GTR ("period"), then this shows me that you are just a common troll that doesn't know jack**** about what he's talking.

Maybe you should just overcome your videogame nostalgia and actually TRY F355 again after all those years. I can still remember how awed I was by Accolade's F1 game in the early 90's which was hardly the pinnacle of the simulation but seemed like it back then.

This just depends on how fast you go. Try replicating a 2.09 on Spa without driving aids.


Any sim is easy if you just go slow enough.

Which also might be the single fastest-selling piece of merchandise in history --

But we all know Halo 2 was so hyped that it turned out to be a disappointment to hardcore FPS players. It's a very cool looking game, but it has some little things wrong with it that almost ruin it.
Yet there are MILLIONS of "boxers" out there now that are brainwashed about Halo 2 because it is all they know.
I have never been disappointed in Gran Turismo, never.
I have never been let down by Gran Turismo.
They don't hype it because they don't have to.
I haven't sensed any real hype about Forza either, but the interview on the website seems like a brainwashing tool to me.

As somebody who has been gaming since the Atari2600 in 1983 when I was 7, I hate to get burned by bad games...you know, getting excited about the "world's greatest game" and then you play it.
Out of the 15 console games I own, 7 were rated 9 or higher by Game Informer.
4 are perfect 10's.
I don't buy bad games and rarely buy even decent games.

And besides, the only way you can play the GREATEST video game ever made, is on the PS2.

IMO they need to go back to the drawing board, or by the time GT5 comes out there are going to be so many NFSU clones and Forza types GT could drown.

Neither of those games could ever drown the GT series. Not because GT is the best, but the user base is so huge and the name is so solid, those games are fly by night money makers.

GT3 was the way it was b/c it was on a completely new system. Well, now GT5 will be on one. But instead of not using all the PS3's power at first for the 1st title on it, they need to go and use asd much as possible. They don't create another "GT3" for the PS3.

Right...so then you want the game to release in the middle of the PS3's life? You obviously know little about programming and software in general. This is my personal opinion. In the 7 game's I play or intend to play regularly, I would have included online but seeing as Gran Turismo 4 is offline I feel that would have been unfair, also i'm not at liberty to have played Forza online yet.

Since when is having a good fanbase and 'pedigree' grounds to make a game the best? I can name several popular series that have been overtaken by a better original game. GT did not invent the formula it just made it mainstream.

Well I didn't mean how many people use it, but in terms of quality of service, the xbox does lead. OFC you could say "but it's not free", and thats when I point you at xbox connect. Free, online, xbox. It's what I use as my xbox is chipped.

I'm an FPS maniac and loved Halo 2, ofc it has flaws, what game doesn't, but they hardly ruin it. OFC it was hyped, it is the BIGGEST xbox game of 2004. Personally I think it lived up to the hype...allmost.

And there are millions of gamers out there brainwashed into thinking fifa is the best football game when PES exists. As I said, I loved halo and halo 2, I loved the game play, the style of it all, the ASTOUNDING AI, great music, and ofc, the multiplayer (co op, and the HIGHLY customisable mode). Hey, it may not be your kinda game, I know people who love it, I know people who hate, but you can't deny that it is one well well made game.

Lack of 2 player garage battles pretty much did it for me. Also Gt3 was abit poop imo. GT2 + bit better graphics - LOADS OF CARS = Gt3.

Whey atari 2600, my first machine too, though being younger then you, I got i much later. Ever own that 32 in one games pack? That owned.

And besides, the only way you can play the GREATEST video game ever made, is on the PS2.

I have played F355 recently, like last month. I have had the GTR demo on my pc before last month.

Show me a 2.09 in the retail or 2.07 in the demo without aids. Retail version has been released in German on 4th November.

I take video files or GTR replay files.


@Front: Nice list. I would be undecided between GPL and RBR regarding physics though. GPL is lacking some features regarding tyre, suspension and aero modeling while RBR seems to have a VERY solid base but sometimes feels dodgy when it comes to the car's inertia and turning rates.

And you forgot NR2003. While I don't drive the Nascar part, the Trans-Am mod and the coming GTP mod are both pretty cool and right up there with the other sims. Just the Papy track modeller sucks in my opinion.

Also, you are right about Half-Life 2...which I don't play (need decent vid card)
I was referring to GTA : San Andreas...which I will play until GT4 arrives.
In fact that's just about all I play right now when I'm not arguing with you.
I would probably choose it over HL2 if I couldn't decide what to play.

The cool thing about this forum, is that people who are unsure what to expect can come here and get outside opinions. Others come here to argue, which is perfectly allright in my book too. But I'll be damned if somebody is going to brainwash me.
