Gran Turismo's promise and potential has always been great, therefore I know that GT4 has an amount of "p and p" that is currently immeasurable compared to Forza. I am expecting the best driving game ever, because most likely, that will be the case. When/If that happens, Forza's virtues won't matter. And I will be proud to have been loyal to the KING all along.

in all honosty im not comfortable at all playing a racing game on xbox (while using the controller). but it wont stop me from getting Forza. ive never seen anything on enthusia but it sounds like a driving sim so ill pick that up too.

I dont know about everyone elses opinions, and i dont care. im going to post mine here. forza will look good, have tons of cars, and in the end will look oh-so-mediocre on a normal TV, and the tuning system will be buggy, the game will be a universal racer wannabe like TOCA2. GT4, will end up being better than GT3, with more cars than Forza, more realistic graphics, photo mode and b-spec mode. tuning in GT4 is much more in depth, im afraid youre mistaken there. as far as body kits, if you are so desperate to get a new look for your pimp ride, go play NFSU2, the pros of GT4 heavily outweigh that one con.

Where did you get the idea that the tuning system will be buggy? And where did you get the idea that it will be a universial racer? As far as anyone knows it doesnt even have a rally mode. If anything its GT4 that is trying to be more universial with TOCA2 doing a better job with it's diversity. Tuning in GT4 Jpn has less depth than what Forza promises.

There are some real console war fan boys on this thread, damn pathetic. Both machines are great, stop all this "xbox is better on paper" crap, it simply isn't true, on paper and off paper it's just as much fun. I also hate this opinion of xbox games somehow being buggier and poorer quality...yes right, this coming from the console with such classics as the getaway . Every console has it's stinkers, every console has it's greats, some are better made then others.

Meh forza looks cool, it plays well, and ya know, I know what it's like to be a fanboy. I used to be a real sega fanboy, I hated EVERYTHING else, and it annoyed me to see good games on other machines, to the point where I'd slag it off just for not being on my machine. I was about 11-13 at the time. I then grew up. I advise the ps2 fanboys to just grow up for once, you can't will a console to suck.

Oh and forza looks superb imo, I couldn't care less if it doesn't look as realistic, the features and playability alone will make up for this. And yes, I guess forza doesn't have GT's background, but every series has to start somewhere, right?

Out of all the fanboys, PS2 ones make me the sick most, as they are usually the ones who never had master systems, nes's, megadrive's, snes's etc, and think they know just about everything to do with gaming, when frankly don't have a fricking clue. The ps2 is a good machine, so are the others . Sorry. The sooner the gaming snobs can shove their opinions up their arses, the sooner they can enjoy great games.

Do you really believe that? I seriously doubt PD checks this forum and says, "Oh, wait. Everyone and their mother doesn't support GT4. Let's push back the release date 3 more months just to show them!"

GT4 Looks increadible, but the cars being Overly Shiny Kinda bother me, as does the fact that the wheels are "flat"

Forza has alot Nicer looking enviorments the cars in general look alot better too, they just dont have half of the reflective mapping that GT4 has, but on a Geometry scale they are noticably better. but to me GT4 rely's on its Reflective mapping Im not a fan of the Unrealistic Shine though.

What seems to make Forza not Look as good as GT4 is the fact its missing some serious Shadows, the cars have it, but It doesnt look like it has any shadowing on the courses themselves (except under trees it looks like) thats probably what makes Forza look so bad

Gameplay is where it counts though, regardless of weither it has 903127509213875 skylines GT4 has superb gameplay.

But its gone its almost entire life unchallenged, Now it looks like Alot more Hardcore players are comming into the game, What will make Forza Appeal to people is not the fact that it doesnt look as good, but customizability, NFSU shows that people want to customize their cars and thats GTs weakness, Adding wheels and a Spoiler isnt enough.

We've already had some people that want to add paint into GT4, and its something thats going to have end up happening at some point in the GT Franchise, paint and Customability are what seperates you from other players.

So bottom line is it all depends on how Microsoft decides to end up Marketing Forza, if they show its strengths and customizability then it WILL be a contender (most likely not for the first incarnation in the franchize)

GT4 is going to be a killer App regardless, but its a MUST to fix the 2 player Arcade garage, if not they might as well add no 2 player at all, I personally Love playing 2 player in GT3 and GT2, it's really fun to see whos got the best car and puts up for some really nice races, without it; it would make Custom cars useless outside of singleplayer

forza doesn't have the best tracks ever. If it did, the nurburgring in forza would actually look realistic but it doesn't, it looks more like something from a NFS game.

There aren't any pics that actually show off all of Nurburgring, and the intro movie only shows some of it.


Cobra, wait until they actually show MORE of Nurburging before you say its not accurate. B/c right now, the only pics and vids have shown trees around a part of the course no one can tell unless they're an expert at the track where the shot is taken.

I've got an XBOX and I'm thinking of getting a PS2 so I can play the GT series. I've never played any of them.
My console is for playing arcade games and my PC is for playing SIMS.

IMO, those are the best shots released. They look much better than PGR2's. The colors aren't as bright, and probably b/c the car is in the shadows.

GT4 trees Vs. Forza trees...

Forza wins. Its like you can see where the wood has been chipped from the tree.

Im not a big forza freak but those textures are freaking amazing, I mean seriously, I think the only real thing missing is the 1000 reflective maps on the cars and shadowing of the Courses themselves (not cars).


Texture wise its VERY pleasant to look at GT4s textures look a bit "blurred" To me GT4 will be The FAR Better game, But if shadowing and more reflective cars we're added Forza would definatly be the more better looking one.

Until then though GT4 has the overall Graphics Department covered (lighting, shadowing, Textures (although blurred they look very nice) )

I always liked going under a Tree in GT3 and being able to see a branch reflecting off my Cars Top.

Looking at the second pic in N.Js post the Shadowing on Forza is okay, but the car is so dull it doesnt look as "deep(?)" I guess

Forza would kinda be like driving an extremely dirty car with hardly any reflections and barely any shadows (exept for under trees)

You don't research any other opponents either. You make poor agruments. Most of them (97%) of them have something to due with GT4 graphics vs. Forza's.

If graphics is all you care about, then go right ahead. It'll only show that your opinion is nowhere near as good as you think it is.

GT4 has a longer history of simluation racing, I think they we're the first (im not sure though) but they've been doing really well at it, like I said, you put the reflective surfaces on Forza that GT4 has and can keep the Textures then Forza would definatly be the better looking game.

But until then the cars look too "dull" which makes them look much more fake

But looking at more pictures the Scenes themselves look very very nice, there is very very little aliasing, the partical effects seem very nice I mean its a really close call, The Shadowing REALLY hurts though, it just takes all of the great geomitry and trashes it, it needs that extra element to be "Fantastic" to me, Shadows are so very very influential to me because it just adds so much extra realism to the game.
