I kind of liked the Inside Sim Racing review, despite what people think they are saying, it seems that it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other when it comes to physics, which shows that both have good and bad points on similar scales.. I didn't feel they did GT5p or FM a dis-service, they did put plenty of positives for both that seem very reasonable. Since neither GT5p or FM2 is a 'sim' they are really making the decisions as to which is the least worse (in their eyes), and it sounds like they struggled to do that with it being close. I really can't see how they are being biased being American when the sad fact is that the PS2 and GT games out sold Xbox and FM1 by such a huge margin in the US.

I personally think both give a really good experience, I can see flaws in both on different aspects, and don't see either as a true 'sim'.. but I do like plenty about each.

You have to have a narrow set of comparison criteria to make one stand out as being 'much better', but then we can skew just about anything to serve our opinions if we try.

Have to say im rather tempted to contact Top Gear and say to them there is somewhat of a war beginning to develop between both franchises and asking them to compare. I know Top Gear are trying to cut down the production costs of the show and this would make for an interesting and amusing feature in an episode.

Please Do:tup: Or at least fifth gear if "top" is not interested. We might also start a internet petition for requesting a review :)

We have a standard practice here at GT Planet involving any and all claims to own an interesting/rare/modified car, and that practice is that we require proof.

Please let me state from the outset that I am not accusing you of making this up, but we have had members in the past who have simply lied about what they own.

As such I'm asking you to post some pictures of the car, both exterior and interior, with a homemade sign (bit of cardboard and a black marker will do the job) that says "Here you go GT PLanet - SatansReverence".

Thanks

If I can find my camera I should be able to post them by tommorow.

Satan do you own GT5P and a PS3 with a good racing wheel?

This is the question EVERYONE is dying to know but has not been answered yet... and I dont think it ever will... I know ive already asked twice... and so have a lot of other members... So why do you choose not to answer that simple little question Satan?

BUT I MAY BE MISTAKEN

Second that!

You said that GT is featureless. But, the GT series has alot of features. It has license tests, all kinds of events, photomode, used car lots... But they must be not features in your eyes. Because you look at things in a special way I guess. :dopey:

And for the second time, or trillion time if I count everyone asking, do you own a PS3 with GT5:P? Have you even played it?

Well unlike other forums this forum doesn't close/delete threads and posts because we don't agree with the topic/subject/opinions (assuming it follows AUP).

And thats a good thing too ;) 👍

rather say, thers nothing better to do , so why not throw some rubbish at each and every...

It's better than anything on tv.

No, Top Gear is better.👍 (I said it in SR's way)

Oh no, now I have distracted SR with saying a show in which Jeremy Clarkson is the main host, is better than this whole thread. He will now ignore our questions questioning his ownership of GT5:P and bash Clarkson, accusing him of having bad driving skills. :guilty:

Have you not read the numerous posts I have made regarding the fact that the staff do not need posts of this nature.

If you have an issue with a post or thread then contact us directly, either via the Report button or a PM.

Do not post nonsense of this nature again, it adds nothing to the thread , could certainly be considered spam and to be blunt will do little more than start an argument.

The next member that posts something of this nature will be getting a formal warning or infraction.

This thread is a valid discussion point and as such will continue, at present the most likely reason why this thread will be locked is not its content, but the conduct of some of the members and the posts they make, as such they will be dealt with first and foremost.

Scaff

the inside sim racing review was not bad, other than the fact they seemed to not get what the word prologue in gt5p means. but all in all for a demo vs a full game gt5p was only slightly behind fm2 due to lack of cars and tracks, really all the stuff they docked gt5p for is going to be in the full game, race cars, cars, tons of tracks and damage in some modes or the entire game, however it gets done since none of us know.

It's very obvious he didn't even play the previous GTs considering he knows none of the franchise's highlights.

GT is featureless. I do not count having xxx number of cars and tracks a feature. It is part of the genre of car sandbox games.

Features are online lobbies.

Auction houses.

Livery editing.

Voice.

etc etc.

GT as a series has nothing which I would call a feature.

Also, do I own a PS3? No, I would not wa... If you want to continue that do so im PM's

Have I played GT5:P? Yes, I played it using a mates PS3 (which had atleast 1/4 inch of dust on it).

It's very obvious he didn't even play the previous GTs considering he knows none of the franchise's highlights.

What highlights? I do not call attaching the worst rally physics onto the back end of GT a highlight and considering how far detached from reality it was, ugh.

Considering when they came to content (~60 something cars vs 300+) they didn't dock GT5:P that much shows they do know it isn't the final game.

Also, kaz himself has said GT5:P is representetive of what GT5 is going to be like.

Top Gear as a show is fine, I have seasons 1 through 10 on my computers HD right now (although I cannot watch the jag diesel on the nurburgring episode because some glitch) but it doesn't change my mind on how bad a driver clarkson is.

I would say GT is lacking in features that other games already have though. GT more or less delivers a fairly realistic racing experience with highly detailed cars and not much else. It's missing major things like a livery editor, visual customisation, private online lobbies, damage, dynamic weather, night/day cycles, etc. A lot of this may change once GT5 is released though, I'm not sure. I know damage has been previewed but I don't think we have anything definite to say all cars in all races will get it.

Forza falls to a similar problem as well, however it manages to have a livery editor, visual cusomisation, private online lobbies and damage. Also the addition of an area where users can buy and sell their own cars from the game. It is, however, confirmed (I believe) that FM3 will not have weather or night/day cycles, which I do find sort of lame.

I suppose you could say racing sims lack features by design.

Indeed. If this guy has your panties in a bunch, just ignore him. GT is not without flaws, so use them as points of discussion and ignore the moronic fanboy hyperbole that says everything about GT sucks and it's a lame excuse for a Forza copy. We all know it's not.

“We always set very high goals and ideals for our games, and the GT5 trailer that you saw [at E3] is a very small portion of what we’re working on. And as long as we actually achieve our goals and fulfill our expectations, I’m sure it would set the new industry standard.”

Im sorry Satan but as you have now admitted you do not own a PS3 your opinion means very little to me.

Like I said previously I only respect the opinion from those who have played both games extensively. Playing around a mates house just doesn't cut the mustard for me. We should meet up on Forza 2 and I shall give you an excellent example why FM2 physics are flawed. I shall open a room and if you download some of my set ups you will see what I mean.

As for GT being featureless you have to take into account that GT4 was released in 2005 and online gaming on consoles has only really taken off in the past few yrs. I admit when it comes to online features Forza has the edge but im sure this will be rectified on GT5.

Anyway features such as livery, auction house, video upload mean absolutely nothing to me because I want to race not paint my car. I find it ironic that yoy say GT is featureless and yet if you pop onto the Forza forums many requested features are going to be in GT5. If you want an example how about 16 players online, Top gear test track, day/night races.

Do not underestimate the importance of the Top Gear TT. This is a brilliant addition because there will be huge numbers hotlapping on this course. I wouldn't even be surprised if some Top Gear viewers who don't even play video games will buy a PS3/GT5 just for this!!

How many of those will be cut or reworked though? I don't think we can really confirm these all exist until we get more information. We've been promised things with GT in the past and they never came to pass. It's just something that happens with all games, developers often bite off way more than they can chew within a given deadline.

A livery editor, an auction house, and a video uploading system may not mean much to you, but they do mean a lot to some people. Look around the net, heck even look around these forums and you'll see a bunch of people who at least want a livery editor in GT. It allows you to personalise your cars more and add a new level of entertainment to the game. Online races will be boring if everyone is just in a show room looking car, at least for me.

Also wouldn't a video uploader help out significantly for the Weekly Race Series?

SatansReverence, for your estimated knowledge:

Wikipedia
Feature: An important or main item.

GT4's used car lots, License tests, B-Spec Mode, Rally races. Aren't those important features? Everyone who has played GT4 once has used B-Spec Mode. Many players can't complete the endurance races for themselves, for various reasons. Endurance races! 24 hour races! They have done the License tests. Heck, it's a need if you want to race! If they have the game long enough (one week), they are guaranteed to do the rally races, and buy cars in the used car lots, which aren't attainable in any other form (some can be won, though). How are those not features? :)

I'm being completely friendly here, it's impossible not to call them features. :)

Well, GT3 dumped used car lots from the 2nd, and rally races haven't been around forever. But I do agree that they're all features.
