If it wasn't for the clash with Fox on lap 1, I might've had a good run. Kind of stupid on my part, I went deep down, even though I knew I should've done the opposite.

Well, fascinating first time out in this series for me. I knew in practice I wasn't going to be competing for wins so I just instead ran it as a test. Managed to get some amazing fuel mileage from the Cobra, had it not been for the turn 1 scuffle, I could've done the race on just two stops. Overall, finally glad to enter one of these races, which makes this the second race in the last couple of days I didn't disconnect from :D

Also, sorry to anyone if I made contact or got in your way. Was just trying to stay on track, never ran a race with this car on Sports softs and without aids so that was a hell of a way to get aquinted with that.

IF anyone needs, I have screencapped the results from the race.

Very good tidy debut. Didn't try outdrive yourself, and certainly at least from me, respect earned 👍

Quiet race for me.

Had a moment in the morning where the bus stop walls disappeared from my screen and about drove into it.

Well, there's the explanation as to why my car suddenly drove like it was more damaged towards the end of the race:

Great race with Sig at the start and the end. Shame I couldn't race with Yera. That was PD lag, not on Yera's end. I got body slammed by car, even though he would have been down on the inside.

That happens after nearly every race of 2hrs+ - 36.2 million credits is needed

Another uneventful race for me after around half distance as @Siggers was too fast and @Downhill Dino DC'ed, need to get more out of the car as I was 3.5 off pole in quali and only managed 2 laps under the 2 minute barrier. Was running 4th in class at half distance due to me 2 stopping and the others were only 1 stopping/

Also I managed for the first time that I went the full race including the pace lap without any damage and this is my 40th WSC race across the seasons

Plux
Joe
Nin
Panoz
Jammy
Furi
Racecar
Snow
Yera
Orama
Sig
Chris
Matheus
Fox DNF
Daiba DNF
Lout DNF

Joe pole & fastest lap

Yera pole

GTO fastest lap: ???

Can I have that results screencap pal?

Receive you shall:

The Cobra is the first car I've had that actually had that notice. The other cars I use alot don't have that, but I usually feel some of the handling going away after abit and refresh them so I guess I usually catch them just before.

Going for the 1 stop strategy was a mistake in the Mustang. Two stops would have been faster. It's tyre wear was too great so at the end of each stint the rears were down to the rims so I just had no pace and nothing to fight with. Pushed it too hard at the end trying to hold 3rd and just dropped a wheel on the grass which spun me out.
Looking at the quali sectors, the mustang was no faster than the other cars in the high speed sectors, so it as all that extra weight and nothing to its advantage for it. I was always targeting 3rd as there is nothing I can do to challenge the unstoppable GTOs.

Also I don't know about anyone else but I can never see anything in the dark at Daytona. I had to keep lifting on the fast left hander in the infield sector and braking really early going into the bus stop because I couldn't see the entry kerb. My lap times were constantly 2minutes+ at night because of this, completely contrasting my daytime pace at the race start.

My thoughts on the series: So I have done a few races now; I really like the format but I feel the race distances aren't worth it for the number of opponents you have. GT Am had 9 cars, of which you can expect the odd one or two to retire or DC. That leaves about 6 of which only a few you get to race with on track over the race. Not counting lap 1 I think I made about 3 overtakes on track for position tonight. This type of racing just isn't my cup of tea, I prefer shorter races with more overtaking action rather than a long endurance one where the excitement is with the pits and tyre management strategy. Everybody already as a rough idea of peoples strategies from testing the cars and knowing their characteristics.

Obviously I will continue to participate whenever I can until the end of this season, but if next seasons format is the same I don't fancy returning.

BTW @snowgt vs @Yeratel84 for FL was a .618 vs .630 ....

Not to worry. I don't mind the strategy games (especially in GT-P) - it is really a polar opposite from short Touring Car style events. And racing is still pretty close for what it is - what did happen with you and @raceorama123432 at end?

Qualified 2nd behind @Yeratel84 , who finally got to show his potential this season, and quite honestly wouldn't have known where to get the extra 3 tenths from to match his time. He also got away cleanly at the start while @raceorama123432 got the better run off the line and took 2nd. @R0ssingt0n then also got past me and I already saw Yera putting some space between him and the rest of the field at the front. It took me some time to work past Lout and Orama, the reason being that the GTO is simply not capable of going by on the straights. It was basically impossible to even pass out of the slipstream and I had to wait for people to make mistakes to squeeze past. Once I was up into 2nd, I only saw Yera on the banks and a little later he slowly vanished into the distance. Going into the dark though, on lap 23 he apparently made a mistake in the left-kink after the horseshoe, because I saw sparks flying, and I drove past into the lead. (By the way - concerning sparks: Chris's Jag was apparently set up very low, because he was leaving a trail of sparks flying as he went through the banked turns each time. Quite spectacular!)

Anyway, that presented an interesting strategical situation as lap 23 was about a third of the way for the GT-O class and I had to decide whether to go for the one-stopper or pit then. I thought that in any case it was better to stay out, although I didn't know, if the tyres were going to make it that long, but if Yera came in for repairs and I would come in as well, he was probably going to be at my tail very soon again. By staying out I could give myself that little advantage that maybe would enable me to match Yera's pace, provided I didn't go off. It turned out though that Yera didn't come in and pitted only when I came in after 36 laps. The tyres were pretty worn by that point and I couldn't get past @chrisjohnson93 and @FlyingFox anymore. I left the pits when he came in, so I must have been about 20-30 seconds ahead.

The second part of the race were pretty uneventful. It seemed like my lead got bigger with time, but it surely wasn't by my lap times as they were pretty conservative. I managed to get through the whole race though without any damage and without even going off once. I almost went off or spun about three or four times, but I always juuust managed to catch the car again and soldier on, which is why I was able to make it 4 in a row. Couldn't be happier.

Stop killing GT-O

Darn I didn't do enough laps. Also disconnection = retired?

@FlyingFox was 1 lap in the full pts window!
