My controller is set up with an elastic band and a pen kinife to assist with the steering (as the vid shows). I average 250Mph on the straights and usually complete 42 / 43 second laps. Totalling 3 minutes 40 -50 seconds per 5 laps. So approx every 4 minutes i earn $70,000 credits đź‘Ť

Thanks for the tips, ill be sure to use my pocket knife for the steering. One quick question, do i try to keep it in a straight line or keep steering LIGHTLY to the right? I've been winning 5-7 races but then suddenly start to finish in 3,4,5 even 6th sometime. What gives?

Truly guys, can you sleep with that damn ps3 buzzing while grinding?

Because it is in my lounge and not the bedroom :dopey:

Is anyone still grinding? I am resorting to this tonight, for my 1st time. Will update once I sucessfully rake in the auto-money from my X1. I'm at A37, B-38, with 12$ million in the bank about to buy my F1 2007, and I will have $0 money left. It took 6 months of casual play time to earn this, meanwhile I kept spending 2 to 4 million on many cars in between. In essence I've been doing just fine since... but seeing how there is no DLC or patch even, for GT5 to bother keeping money for, I will just grind away. I have 280 cars in the garage, but I have this sudden urge to just buy them all and get that over with.

Be aware if family members shut PS3 down All Cr earned for that grind will be lost.
as It does not save untill you leave and select another event or go to the home screen.
Ejecting the disc also results in game shut down. so keep family away...

If you have never had A power cut, you are increasing the odds that you will very soon .

Works great, however you need to mess about the settings, very frustrating at time. BUT when you get it right on, the rewards will be endless (nearly) and it does matter on the other cars layout, which one is fastest, etc.. Best of luck to the ones who are going to try it out for the first time!

You do know you can't use the F1s in A or B spec, right?

so before going on a trip I made the mistake of trying to get greedy (also I honestly thought I could turn up the downforce). So adjusted my min/max downforce to like defaults (150ish) and when I returned my X1 had been grinding a wall for like 15 hrs :(

For now on will stick to the 50/50. But for a few hrs I did earn cr a little faster before the X1 finally flew off the wall

I find using a set(2) of rubber bands is easiest for this (no need for finding something with a just right width to wedge into place.) Wrap a rubber band around each stick and pull it upwards, then wrap the other end of the band over the top of the ds3 and then back down underneath the handgrips.(like in the picture on the initial post, where the throttle rubberband is being used)

Start your race and center your steering stick while leaving the throttle on full. Gently nudge the steering stick to the right little by little until you start favoring the right, the tension on the stick from the rubberband will keep it wherever you leave it. I find that once the car starts to veer to the right i nudge it a tiny bit more over, the car should hit about 255 mph on the straights with a fresh oil change.

After you get this setup take a piece of tape and use it crosswise over the numpad enter key on your usb keyboard to keep it pressed down. At this point you are all set. I have my ps3 hooked up to my computers monitor via hdmi so occasionally ill check and make sure the car hasnt crashed. If you make the car turn right too lightly it will get into bad accidents and stall your grinding session. If you make it turn right too hard it wont win because of too much friction with the walls (maybe at first it will but as the oil wears out and its performance takes it hit it will lose alot).

I find that with a fresh oil change the x1 will usually net me about 1 million an hour, I like to get it started before i goto sleep. I will check it in the morning before going to work to make sure it hasnt crashed and by the time i get home from work im capped on credits. yay.

Edit - X1 car settings are completely default. I set transmission to automatic and have all the aids off while using racing soft tires. Im not sure if any of the aids will actually help increase credits per hour, all i know is that the way i have it setup works great and doesnt crash.

I was late to work this morning by 10 minutes, but it was well worth it!
1st attempt, I sat the gamepad (no elastics, no coins) into a mirrored glass candlestick holder, very similar to this one, but squared top, resulting in automatic forward analog sticks, tweaked the left stick ever so slightly to the right, and shoved some cheap coasters in the back of the game pad for that "snug fit" and watched in amazement at 42.3 lap times the first time around. I had to watch it a second time too. USB keyboard with an old arcade token coin slotted by the enter key.

Thanks for the thread for insight.

USB enter repeat stopped working, is it possible PD sends a micro patch to disable this feature? Funny thing, is when I unlug and replug the USB, the enter repeats for 1 session, then not for the next.

Lightly too the right, here's a pic of what I did.

That one controls the gas pedal. :dunce:

As for the prior question, I set it to drift to the left some, yes. As for when it seems to fall back, try going to change the oil

I set it to control the gas, brake, and steering.

i just ripped a piece off my rizzla box to jam the Enter keyboard button, and one to jam the analog stick pointing right. Finally, some sticky tape for R2 and it was done!

Update 1.10 broke "like the wind" grinding
Physical contact with the walls Slows cars down more its not working.
The X2010 would do 180MPH wall riding its now dropping to 160MPH with no change in set up.
like the wind is now a loss as it has Le mans cars.
Change back to dreamcar indy as they are GT1 cars. less money but more exp.

Are you sure? I just tried setting it up in the Dream Car Indy race and my X1 still reaches 400km/h on the straight, enough to beat the Jaguar after 2 laps...

You haven't read the post every one had switched to "Like the Wind"
Straight speed wont make the difference Corner speed has dropped buy 20 MPH.
for 4 corners. This auto grinding requires wall riding for 4 corners per lap so when you add it up. does not work on "Like the wind". combine that with you no longer being in the top 3 after the first 2 corners the AI drivers now are blocking the back straight driving line it failed every time.
my X2010 does 260MPH thats faster than 400Kph but is still not fast enough for "Like the wind" to win. Lap time is 45 secs now Not 43 secs like before patch.
if the nissans first lap is 48 secs, your first lap will be 51 seconds ish thats a 3 sec loss on first lap, after that each lap will be 45 secs for you and the AI will do 44-46 secs you can't make up the Grid distance on "Like the Wind" indy
so have to switch back to "Dream car" indy grinding. Never said Dream car was broken.

My friend told me that he cannot grind anymore because half of the AIs are way too near the wall.

Anyone can confirm this?
Haven't tried it yet :)

Its a side effect of the decrease in speed from wall riding you would have passed the AI before on 1.09 so the AI now on 1.10 the gets in the way on "Like the wind" this does not effect Dream car as the cars are to slow...
The little turn to the right you applied slides the car of their bumper back to the wall.

Well guys, I tried it several times in the Dream Car and it doesn't work anymore--well, not for wins anyway. The right side damage increase slows the X2010 too much in the corners, to the point it's down to the 140s after a few laps. Yes, still gets 240s at end of straights, but it's not enough. I adjusted to as fine a right turn as possible, but the update increased the damage model too much.

Is there a way to completely disable damage in A Spec? If not, it looks like a LOT less payoff with autogrinding, or earning $/XP the old fashioned way.

Bummer. But gotta love the triple $/XP in the seasonals and half priced OCD for now!

After applying 1.10 this morning, and was pleased to see I owned most of the OCD already, I immediately saw my X1 in 8th , 10th place after lap 2, and started to smile and said, hah, PD is onto us. I didn't get upset, I remedied the situation.

My X1 is currently at 1475HP after oil change, so not completely powerful.

I also noticed the wall rubbing decreases your speed to 260 km/hr (down from approx 300 previously)

In any case, I set the controller less to the right than before, literally showing a spec / pixel of G-force (BTW, I love the X1 cockpit, seems re-designed), and my aids are:

Traction 5,
Racing Hards, (as before)
Skid on
ASM , I turn this off.
ABS, I leave at 1.
tuning, all stock, except:
Downforce = 50/60
Tranny, at 499 km/hr
Toe, to -.45 / +.45

gave it a whirl, and it gets to 1st place after about 2 - 3 laps, and wins the race each** time, by approx 1s.
Lap times increased to 44s/ lap

**BTW, it will still lose some races, ending in 5th place. but I leave good enough alone.

but, I got most of my cars now, I'm gonna quit the grind, and ammass money the old true way, and that is to enjoy the seasonals & Drive the cars I have. I grinded for no more than 3 work days so far, and 1 of those days, was spent with the X1 stuck in the wall for 9 hours.....

I was desperate to get that F1 2007, now my game seems complete, even if I still have 750 more cars to go

I have just tried this setup and I took first place on the last lap and won.

The second race I've been in front since the first lap.

Cheers for the help.

Right, i've yet to upgrade to 1.10 so i think i'll give this a go as i need some cash (not online!:-( ) and the exp will come in handy too.
Just a couple of questions:
1) Will literally ANY usb keyboard work or are there particular ones that work and ones that have known issues? (i'm looking at a logitech deluxe 250)
2) This is gonna sound dumb so i apologise in advance, but how do you set the keyboard up to auto-repeat the enter press or does it do it automatically???
p.s: i live in a cave on a remote island !!!! lol !!!!

1. yes it will :P
2. just stick some paper, u have on 1st page i think

1. đź‘Ť

2.

where the numeric keypad is, on the far right of your USB keyboard ($10 one will do fine), you have an Enter button. This needs to remain held down after the race starts. Stick a nickel or a quarter coin, wedge it between the enter and the KB Chassis.

BTW A-Grinding I think, is dead, but as you say, perhaps I need to migrate to Dreamcar grind instead. Last few grinds, I come home to see my car doing a smoke show against the wall for 8 hours without end.
