Funny/Strange News Stories

This is why the US don't have roundabouts - they're deadly, at least according to the headline.

Northolt stabbing: Young man fighting for life after being knifed repeatedly by a roundabout in early hours of morning.
Actually we do. But we call them "circles" in the area where I grew up, and "rotaries" in the area where I currently reside. But the major difference, I would think, is that I have never heard of anyone being knifed by a circle or rotary, let alone knifed multiple times.

Worst Wrestling name. Ever.

Barnaby "the Inbred Tomato" Joyce.

Mr Joyce was also asked which vegetable he'd rather be compared to.

"Something sleek and sensitive, just like me," he said.

How could is Chinese detergent? According to this advert it even works on your black boyfriend. BBC.

It's actually a pretty interesting article. It goes on to talk about how skin lightening is seen as a beauty feature in Asia and many other places. If the author could get off their high horse for a second and really look at it dispassionately, the answer is "so what". Ok, so they like light skin, big deal. That doesn't have to be racist, it's just aesthetic. Some people dye their hair blonde too. It doesn't mean that they hate people with black hair, they just like the way it looks.

If you step far enough back from this advertisement, it's actually the exact opposite of racist. She takes an individual, a person, and changes the way he looks cosmetically only, and is happy with the result. That's not racist, that's just personal preference. It's the same guy, it suggests that underneath the superficial layer we're all the same. That a black guy and a asian guy are only different on the outside.

I bet you didn't think anyone could defend that commercial.

Luciana Berger MP is to stand for Liverpool's Mayoral election. That's not funny in itself, for some, but I was rather taken with the quality of the Periscope feed on her Twittling account, particularly for somebody who refuses to be objectified as a woman.

Anyone else find this hilarious?

Yes.

The neo-nazi attack on an LGBT-supporting cafe? Forgive me for saying no.

If it is in good fun it is quite funny, meat around your neck and throwing some on your plate? Seeing as how you bring up 'attack on lgbt' I will remind you that they have gone into conservative businesses cladly dressed and throwing confetti around which again, if in good fun is quite funny. Lighten up.

It was mainly the "throwing meat everywhere" thing that made me chuckle.
Even putting aside the rather blatant overtones, it's really still not funny. For a demographic that would feel like they need to walk on (synthetic) egg shells within the context of their society, laughing at their being abused and intimidated is poor form.

It's just a plain ugly story all round.

Well sorry, geez. Guess the thought of people walking into a restaurant throwing meat around is only funny to some of us.

Carry on.

We should all learn to put ourselves in another person's shoes when needed. Given the disingenuous "sorry", you're going to wait 'til the next opportunity, yes?

You are serious? An alternative cafe or whatever it is, full of rebellious kids who have much thicker skin than you I would guess. It would not surprise me to see some larger nany group behind the complaint tbh.

Oh well, we are ruining the funny, and it is funny

Because rebellion is never righteous or dangerous, yes?

....Ouch.

Headline: Boy, 4 years young, reduces Lego statue worth 10 Grand to rubble. BBC.

And here's the pic of the said Lego "art piece":

I wonder why he ended up touching it.... :)

Because these days parents don't discipline their kids and let them run around like wild things.

Just like that zoo where they had to kill the silverback, how did the child get into the enclosure?
Parents let their kid run loose.
