It looks like the old GTS from the back at least. It does have some Ferrari flare, but why is that a bad ting? Because of FIAT's ownership and leadership, Chrysler's sales have increased 23% according to the SRT presentation. The 2012 Dodge Challenger is said to have the best quality in it's class, and now that the SRT Viper is using the same leather that Ferrari uses....it's quality has increased as well. I mean, despite what you think about the exterior, you have to admit, the interior looks beautiful.

you have to admit, the interior looks beautiful.

The only thing ever wrong with it in the old car was white faced gauges. Other than that, I don't see the big deal.

But I also think the F40 is the best Ferrari interior ever.

Wow keef epic post, and this shows that the engine was being limited and could have plenty of improvement. The interior I can see the new and old meshed together, and it'd be nice if the ZR1 had a crafted interior like this. It'd be great if many American cars upped the bar Ford and Dodge seem to be on certain cars. It'd be nice having to hear foreigner critics say nice things instead of bashing. And as they pointed out Top Gear is a big one, so I'm glad they're finally seeing it the way other Americans have to hear it. Makes me proud of dodge again for listening and trying to give back to their market.

Also I'm glad they realize that the handling was something they also needed to improve, there are plenty of hyper cars that are longer like the viper and they handle amazing so why can't the viper. It looks like it finally can, and I hope so, I'd love to see them take the fight to the F12, Aventador, Zagato, ZR1 and many others.

I'd like to see this car in action already.

Also in some of the design videos it looks like some color swatches they have posted in the background. Hopefully that's not the only color options.

Much love to you, Keef, for posting all those videos in Post #545. I am impressed with the various elements of the new Viper. It was also fascinating to note some of the other cars as inspiration for the newest Viper. I may go back and see all of those videos, but the first one tells me just about everything.

I think I know why the front of this new Viper looks so bland. It's missing the big-ass cross in the grille shell opening. Of course, it's there, but it's black. In all the previous generation Vipers the cross was body color and sliced the big gapping mouth in 4 pieces, and was absolutely the most iconic indication of a Viper. This one has lost it because it's surrounds are black.

So I made this...

and while it looks more "Viper-esque"... I don't know. It still looks horrible to me. I just cannot stand the front end of the damned car.

The front took a little getting used to but I like it now. I don't believe its so bad it hasn't followed the previous gens so closely. The car is new, plus I believe its achieved the look of a serpent. That straight on angle is without a doubt a viper. Or a snake of some sort.

That opening in the middle of the grille looks like it was made for the Alfa romeo badge.

To confuse people even more haha

Yeah, I know. So here it is without the grille opening:

It still looks horrid.

The part of the grill for the alfa badge,, can you shop 2 more of it into the grill, as far to the outside as possible. I'll bet that will clean up his face.

But I still love the car.

You know what it looks even more like?

The previous Dodge Vipers....

There is way more Viper than Ferrari there, I don't know what you guys are seeing... If I saw this concept and did not know it was a Viper, from any view, I would automatically say "Viper!" The front has that same undulating form, with the same triangular hood scoop, with the same grill design. The only thing different here is the headlights, but those look more Koenigesegg than Ferrari.
Agree with you completely. This is very clearly a Viper from any angle because the Viper has established itself as the only car on the road that looks anything like itself. Various other cars have lumpy hoods, wide hips, swept rear hatches, hood scoops and vents here and there, but the entire package of all these design cues is 100% Viper.

I love how they've pushed the aggressiveness factor through the roof on this car. The hood is lower with bigger bulges making the whole car appear wider and more powerful. Mmm!

I think all or most people who dislike this car (even remotely) will eventually connect with it. After all, it's still the Viper. Only as long as the Chrysler group doesn't try to make the Viper to be a V10-powered hatchback with front-wheel drive, you know what you're getting when you speak of the Viper. We're eventually going to get used to the Viper if you don't like its looks. For example, as much as I loved the C5 Corvette, I didn't really connect style-wise with the C6. Only thing I didn't like about the C5 'Vette were the retractable headlights (if this makes me less of a person, I'm sorry). I thought even then the C6 could have had some design elements carried over in making permanent headlights for the C6. But back to the Viper- I can get used to the new Viper pretty well.

I look back on the post Keef quoted from Eunos_Cosmo. I would probably keep the LED daytime running lights to outline the lower and outer portions of the headlights, but give this newer Viper the light shape of the previous Viper. I'd probably also replace the ducts on either side of the front bumper with fog lights. I really wouldn't change much else except for putting some stripes down the center of the car.

The front lights are what's ruining the front for me. Also the front weelarch isn't big enough. Or rather there's too much hood above it.

I know many will disagree with me but every time i look at the front of the new Viper i can't help but picture the Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale, i know the lights etc aren't the same, but i feel it shares a certain essence.

A classic (more European) GT shape and the color are the only similarities I see.
Put the new SRT, TZ3, 599, SLS, C-X16 and even the current Corvette side by side (in red would be good) and you'll notice they all share some design similarties. I agree that the new Viper looks more European and noble than the old ones, but that's it.

I can see that.

I bet it has a lot to do with Fiat ownership.

Because that is a Dodge Viper.

I can't be the only one that sees these new posts on these forums and wonders, "Jeez, that looks just like every other dumb post out there."

They share a certain essence.

Sorry if you feel my post is pointless and somewhat dumb, was just sharing my opinion.

The first homage you'll find is etched lovingly into the plastic on the door pull above the window switch. Thislittle easter egg is a map of the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife track— a track where SRT engineers hope they'll be able to beat the last generation's stellar laptime (7:12:13 inthe 2010 Dodge Viper ACR, 7:59:00 in the Dodge Viper SRT-10) on.

The second homage is located beneath the cup holder over the transmission tunnel. That tattoo is of Laguna Seca — the Monterey, California track where the 2010 Dodge Viper ACR set the lap record of 1:33.944 back in 2009.

The overall car is clearly a Viper. I don't care if there's a little "Italian" styling, because Alfa and Ferrari haven't come out with a car that looks this good in a while.
