By the way, SRT has put the Viper back on the top at Laguna Seca. They lost the title to the Corvette ZR1. And, in response, SRT built the SRT Viper TA. The TA stands for Time Attack, if you didn't guess.

First thing that actually came to my mind was "Trans Am"...

SRT did plan this well before they the MT Test's. It was just the "Mopar" Viper.

They just Added it into the Vipers Line-up as a Package. The Aero Kit is there, the Carbon Fiber X brace is there, the Brakes are probably Mopar performance Sourced.

lol. Crazy thing about the TA is it beat the Vette, which ran it's lap on racing tires, on street tires. Motor Trend then threw on some slicks and the Viper ran a 1:30 around Laguna. Should be interesting to see the C7 ZR1 and what it can do.

When the snake's face begins to glow on the gauge, that means the legacy of the Viper snake is taking over you and the car! That is why you MUST get out of the throttle when the Snake's face appears!!! The car is possessed! I cannot stress the importance!

That looks sexay!👍

Chrysler hasn't released prices yet. Also, I doubt this will be the last time SRT tweaks the Viper. Remember, the TA is just all the performance upgrades, tweaked shocks and better breaks. I'm curious to see what the new SRT Viper ACR will look like.

EDIT: I guess 2014 could also debut the ACR

Seems like this TA is more of a ACR place holder as only 33 will be released. And the TA was really designed solely to beat the Corvette on Laguna. So, maybe the Detroit or LA Autoshows will debut the 2014 SRT Viper ACR. Keep in mind that the last ACR still holds the American Production car record on Nurburgring and is third overall behind two Ultimas (which don't really count as production cars, in my book, but whatever.)

I saw "Viper: Soul Survivor" on Speed Channel on Friday night. That was a very interesting documentary looking at the road-going Viper and the GTS-R. I still love this new Viper. The new one makes me forget about the previous Viper, but the very first Vipers still hold a special place in my heart.

So there's going to be an ACR version of the new Viper coming out? I'm pretty sure that snake will have as much venom as the current Viper. I still make the analogy of the Viper as being a "nicely-dressed hard ass"- something handsome-looking that can still beat you up if you dare push someone. So I can imagine the SRT Viper ACR to be an evolution (in some capacity) of the current ACR Viper.

I think they said the first 33 TA's will be in Crusher Orange, As for the New ACR. the only thing i was told about it is that it will have 1500lbs of Downforce. Which is 500lbs more than the Last ACR.

Well, the new Viper is more of that hard-ass that's been around for 20 years and is used to the punishment. So, she'll still kick your ass if you push her, it just takes more of a push thanks to all the Ferrari tech she's been outfitted with. But I like that analogy.

That could be. I skimmed the article, really. And...that's a lot of downforce. I'm thinking the new ACR might become at least the second fasted production vehicle around Nurburgring...unless SRT REALLY wants first place...then they'll just make it happen.

(Speaking of, I was wrong: the Viper ACR is fourth around the Nurburgring. The Gumpert Apollo S was a second faster. Second place is 17 seconds away and 1st is 24 seconds away. Third is doable, for sure...MAYBE second. I'd be impressed if the new ACR beat it's parent's time by 24 seconds though. Then again...13 miles is a long way.)

EDIT: By the way, Motortrend's driver is either terrible or Motortrend is just stupid 'cause while the ZR1 dusted the old ACR's time on Laguna Seca, the ACR destroyed the ZR1 on the Nurburgring and both cars ran on similar tires. So, I don't know what's going on there. I also thought the Stock SRT Viper was supposed to be faster than the ACR.

Now, Top Gear had issues with the SRT Viper not living up to it's promises either, but...it's Top Gear. I don't believe a lot of things they say.

I wouldn't call Randy Pobst a terrible driver......
The Nurb and Laguna Seca are two completely different tracks as well. Just because one car is faster than another on a certain track does not mean it will be that way on all the tracks. The stock Viper is faster top end wise to an ACR Viper, because the stock viper does not have the 1000lbs of downforce the ACR has.

Fair points. To be honest, if there was a screw up somewhere, I'd blame Motor Trend before blaming the driver. But, Laguna and NB really are different as are the cars. Still, it's interesting, at least. Can't wait for the new ACR. Also, let's hope the TA and ACR appear in future video games.

ACR needs first to appear in real, like any performance version of the C7. All i can say is, this rivalry is awesome! Anything that would help both cars to destroy a GT-R, i am totally forward it!

The Viper and Vette have already destroyed the GT-R...and several other cars that claim to be super fast...like the Lexus LFA and Ferrari 458.

Never. They'll never beat Radical, I don't see them pushing that hard. And McLaren is probably going to take the P1 there anyway. I'd love for them to build a Viper to beat that car, but I don't see it happening.

Different test days, different results. Both results are equally valid and there's nothing really unusual about this.

Mih
GT-R fans claim it was unfair because it was a wet track.

Nurburgring isn't important. Head to head, the ACR has outrun the GT-R in a few tests, though it should considering downforce and tires.

The base model is the ideal viper for this type of driving but when it comes to Blvd. And long distance Driving, that's where you'll favor the GTS.

Just saw a new bright red SRT viper, and a blue/white stripes GTS. I loved these in pictures but seeing them in the flesh made me drool. Wow. I can post pics if anyone really cares (because there are already plenty floating around on the web)

You should post them here, we'd love to see them!

Hey, is that Sergio's personal Challenger in the background?

Not quiet sure, there were a few different SRT models on display and the race was about to start so I had to hurry.

They even had the actual black charger that was used in fast five the movie (the part when they pulled the bank safe out and were dragging it with chains).

For the dealership pics, all I gotta say is seeing the blue GTS really made me weak. Car is gorgeous and a great remake of the original GTS, which was one of my fav's back in the day. The SRT was great too but I didn't care for the bright red color with no stripes.

Personally I would have white stripes(not black) on bright red paint, no stripes on the dark burgundy red, either silver stripes or no stripes on black, and plain orange for the TA model. I will have to reserve my judgement on yellow until I see it in person.

I'm still up in the air on the different hoods for the SRT and GTS. I think I like the simple 2 vents on the GTS vs the 6 on the SRT.

If Dodge keeps taking their name of their vehicles (Ram 1500, SRT Viper, Ram Dakota) they'll soon have no cars with the Dodge name.
