General Bug/Glitch thread

Why allow custom soundtracks during the races and replays but not during the menus?

Through my 5.1 home cinema amp, the music volume is relatively way too low during the races and replays. With all volume values on the default settings, I can barely hear the music. I'm using the hdmi for audio from the ps3 - anyone else have this same issue?

I had the same problem but was able to adjust the game audio and music levels to an acceptable level using the sliders in the Audio section of the Options Menu.

As for bugs and glitches, I have one serious issue that has not been mentioned in this thread .....

I am at Level 22 and 53% completion .... I have purchased dozens of "Fully Customizable" gearboxes (20K credits), none of which are adjustable other than the final drive ratio. All of the individual gear boxes are greyed out and are simply not accessible with the cursor. This is a bummer to say the least.

Also, since we are forced to drive some of the cars without cockpit views, we must then drive them from "outside" the car. This in itself is not a problem for me. The problem is that I cannot hear my own car above the sounds from the cars around me. I have to glance down at the linear rev-counter to see the flashing red light to be able to know when to shift. This distraction has cost me several races. It is especially noticeable in the Expert Event / Galardo Trophy when using the roof view. Adjusting the Race Sound Effects in the Options Menu does not have any effect on this issue.

While not necessarily a glitch, I find it odd that a player at level 22 such as myself can't enter an event with a 19 rating. In the Expert Series / Gran Turismo Allstars, most of the competing cars are made up of the Le Mans type cars from GT4 such as ... Nissan R92, R89C, R390GT1; Sauber Mercedes C9; Jaguar XJR-9LM; Minolta Toyota 88C; Gillet Verigo; Pescarolo Courage; Audi R8 Race Car and Mazda 787B. I have never seen any of these cars in the game as award cars, nor are any of them available to purchase other than the Mazda 787B .... problem is that the cost of the Mazda is a ridiculous 5,260,000 credits. I realize that I could always enter the race with another car, but lets be serious ... what would be the point ? It just seems that whomever designed the ladder of progression for the game had maybe just a bit too much sake the night before :)

EDIT ... I did find 2 applicable cars in the Peugeot dealership, although they weren't listed in the typical competitor list. And unlike the Mazda, they are only 4,000,000 credits a piece. Also, I finally broke down and entered the event with my Raybrig NSX and finished 2nd in the Championship. Thought it peculiar, so re-entered and finished second again with my Dodge SRT10 ACR Viper (shouldn't happen in real life).

I am an avid GT addict and have been since day 1. As an example, I have over 70 F2007's in my Prologue garage. I have to say, that I am greatly disappointed in the way Sony handcuffed Kaz into the PSP and 3D crap and not allowing him to create the masterpiece that everyone expected. I'm beginning to believe that Kaz is more of a "car collector" than he is a game "designer". I still love the game and receive great entertainment for my money, no real complaints there ... just disappointment in the lack of polish I was expecting :guilty:

Yes. It appears all the DLC cars have no thumbnail set up for them. However, you can create a thumbnail image for them by hitting triangle and clicking on "Create Thumbnail".

Dont know if it has been mentioned but you can buy an unlimited amount of snow tires for any car that can equip them. After 1 purchase of dirt tires it says then that these tires are already on the vehicle if you try to purchase them again. Try that with the snow tires. It doesn't mention anything about already buying them...

I figured a thread documenting the various bugs in Gran Turismo 5 (full retail version only, of course) might be helpful not only to those who own the game, but possibly the developers too. Sort of like an extended beta test perhaps.

Here are some issues I have noticed:

-Odd aliasing problem with particle effect clouds and foreground (pretty sure this is well known)
-FC3S RX7: tachometer doesn't work properly
-RE-Amemiya Asparadrink RX-7: dashboard does not light during night races (not sure if it is supposed to or not, I would think so)

I've noticed a few other more minor things, but I think they are beyond the scope of this thread.

I think this thread is a great idea provided we can keep it constructive. I know it's probably too much work but maybe you can document and update your original first post with legitimate glitches/bugs that ppl report in bullet point form? That way we can keep track of all of them and if indeed PD do look they can get a good easy report.

* Toyota Supra 1988 premium car does not show the pop up headlights when using the interior view (like the MX5 does for example)

* Chromeline cars are meant to have Racing(hard) tyres however it feels like they have been placed into a freezer for a day.

* Interior sound is biased about 90 engine/10 exhaust where it should be about 60/40

Will post more as i discover them.

I'm at a loss trying to figure out where all the cars are supposed to be. How are we supposed to progress through the game when there are events requiring cars that are not available anywhere. I am at Level 23 now and only have 6 events left to do. Four of them require cars which I can't find anywhere. I'm beginning to wonder if I lost one of the discs from a 2 disc set ? If only I could have transfered just one of the F2007's from Prologue. Even then, the open wheel event requires something called "Formula Gran Turismo" so not sure if the F2007 even qualifies (which would make 5 events with no cars).

I haven't taken the time to count, but I'd be willing to bet that there isn't anywhere near 1,039 cars in this game as advertised. I'll bet Kaz had to take some out to make room for the half dozen cheesy Sony ads that are running off our game disc. Check the XMB menu under the "Video" heading and you will find "Trailers" which are nothing more than Sony trying to sell us crappy PSN product. I didn't pay $60 (actually $100) for a disc of commercials

PD ought to be ashamed of themselves for selling out and diminishing our dream :guilty:

Since this thread addresses bugs and glitches, consider my issue simply missing cars.

Hi guys, first off, I love this game, no question in my mind it was worth the wait!

I also found the problem where the chrome line cars, where they don't actually show a date to them, so you cant use for example the 300sl in a race where a car of that age would be alloud.

I also found that unplugging the modem solves the hangup problems.

As for other bugs, honestly I'm just too happy to be playing GT5 to care.

Ok F1 car is in Ferrari there are 2 of them, as for the bulk of the cars they appear in the used car section. there are 800 or so second hand cars that randomly (I think) shuffle through the used car lot.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but there's a bug where you can fly around the pit lane past the pit barrier yet it will try to pull your car back into the pits, of course this doesn't work and results in the AI making hundreds of 3 point turns getting nowhere, it happened on Tsukuba while in an online race, had to quit to solve it.

I have a couple:

1. After unlocking the Nürburgring 24-Hour Endurance Layout, it said I had unlocked the "Nürburgring 4-Hour Endurance Layout." :odd:

2. During the Top Gear Test Track special event, intermediate, ASM is locked and you can't turn it on in the menu before the race. BUT, if you use the RA Function during the race, you can still turn it on. Same goes for any other event where specific Driving Aids are locked.

Noticed those two as well

I had the same with GT5 Prologue. It had to do with the PS3's setting for automatic adjustment to daylight savings time. Try changing that to off in the XMB settings menu and then check if the time is correct, did the trick for me with GT5 Prologue.

I also noticed on a snow rally, the shadows of the flags...well...they can't keep up with the flags. It's like watching GT5 and something on the Atari 2600.

Yeah its very weird, like the flags are in slow motion or something. The shadows are very pixelated as well.

Also on some of the rallies at the start your car and the one in front are slowly sliding sideways to the side of the track.

And its very annoying that the cars are touching the brakes like 10 times a sec which makes all brake lights go all disco on me.

I don't know if my Logitech DFGT is about to break or something, but sometimes with some cars the force feedback seems disabled or very light. In consecutive races with a Ferrari 430 Scuderia or a Lamborghini Gallardo, it was first quit heavy, then very light in my next race, and then quite heavy again in the next one after.

Is there any way to stop the chat box from potting up during online races? It's most annoying when you're aiming at the apex only to have your view obscured by the massive chat box popping up telling me that Ted_UK has just entered the room.

make sure your ps3 is adjusting time by internet and also to check your daylight savings option and adjust accordingly(manually this one).

that should correct it.

There's no way to map the buttons on a Logitech G27 wheel. In GT5P you could do it by selecting another wheel in the setup menu, and mapping its buttons the way you wanted. This no longer works.

👍 There was a transfer of corrupted data between loading the .02 update, the cars from the collector's edition, and gameplay. The cars loaded on version .01, but were gone when the update was done. They were loaded again, and the game has not been right since. So either the .02 update was corrupt, or the file with the cars was corrupt. We deleted the game, including the progress made, and are re-installing. Hopefully, it works!! :boggled:Re-install completed, with gamesave data intact

Chuk, I reloaded the cars from the collectors edition without any trouble. the .02 update problem was from a failed or incomplete download. Remember it crashed when I was updating?

BUT, I am still very perplexed on why some cars have the throttle engaged at a standstill and also when the brake is on!?! The special SLS AMG you get from amazon preorder has this flaw. Can anyone confirm the same issue?

Audi R8, Bumper Cam...

The audio gradually goes muted, and plays a disturbing repeated sound (like a long noise sample poorly looped). Change View, and the audio goes back to normal when you return to Bumper Cam, but then gradually mutes again.

(edit... by 'muted', I mean it gets quieter and more muffled, not completely off)

I completed international C license without completing IC-10.

I had just entered to have a quick look using the joy-pad as my wheel wasn't connected. I got DQ'd a couple of times hitting the wall. Then went to exit and it had given me a bronze and the license.

Odd - I picked DFGT and mapped my Fanatec Turbo S just fine.

The G25 wheel has a second gear problem, to hard to get the gear right most of the time. The breaks stay on a little some times, noticeable in licence restart and in races after some corners where you braked and car won't accelerate properly.
I Hope they can fix it with a patch as codies did in F1.

I use the G25 and none of those issues have occured after a week's solid playing. Maybe your wheel is acting up? Hopefully it gets sorted, either way.

Sorry if someone has posted the following, as i have not had time to read every page...

I have had a bug 3 times in different races over different days.. Basically, one of the opponent cars sound mangles up and turns into a high-pitched buzzy/glitchy mess. It is definately a bug off the engine sound of one particular AI opponent because as the car gets closer or further away, so does the sound. Very strange indeed.

Wow how I didnt saw that! thanks a lot.

Its very pleasant the feeling of not knowing at all a GT game.

After unlocking the ending movie, trying to view it in GT-TV results in everything freezing up. Anyone else have this/know how to fix it?
