@ amg, thanks for the condolences

@ smallhorses, It's not that i am Missing points as such because i have a Book (i printed and bound together) that i found and have been using it for the past 6 months. However i must have filled it in wrong. I have just printed a nice new clean copy of this and currently i have now checked (5 hours worth :ouch:) all Manufacture Events, Beginners, Japanese, European and American halls as well as the 9 Enduro's i have completed. Also the Family Cup and Mission hall.

still have to check the Special Conditions, Professional and Extreme Halls. :grumpy::grumpy:

here is the link to the file i posted for ardynkyle who was missing 5.5% of the game.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2903637&postcount=4

EDIT: Found the missing 191 points after checking all but 7 races i found them in the special conditions hard costa di amalfi. a quick trip to the garage for the suzuki gsx/r4 and that is done.

now i am currently running the motegi 8 hour in the same gsx/4r, 1 1/2 hour in an a lap in front of a nissan gran turismo gtr. this is another walk over.

i am a little concerened about my % though. currently 95.5 and if i add up the races i have left with the two championships. i get 99.9%.
even though i have 26 races and two championships i have done 2 x 24hr B-spec early in the game. so 26 x approx 0.169 = 4.41%.

i have a gt4 book that was published and it says that the % is always rounded down. so i think i could actually be on 95.59% for example and thus add this to what i have left to do would make 100% Hopefully. i have checked my diary and i DID complete mission 1 first so no bug there. also being i have re-checked the whole game finding 191 points i have completed all championships as well that i have needed to so-far.

my fingers, toes and anything else i can are crossed.

I've recently finished going through all my races with Fizio's spreadsheet - and now I have a few more points on my home-screen than on the spreadsheet! So it looks like I'll be in for a pleasant surprise with at least one race!

Just finished the Mini races to give me 92500 - not nearly as bad a races as I thought after reading other posts (I really hate it when I read people saying this on races I'm having loads of trouble with - but hey!:sly:)

....(Won't be doing Max points since it requires B-spec to wear out cars, and my B-spec stats will forever remain 0-0-0-0!)

it's a shame that when you "trade" from another memory card the cars milage does not go with it. :grumpy:

:guilty: However i have got over 100,000 kms on my b-spec only because i was wearing out rides (& i did do the nurb 24hr for the formula 1 (i hang my head in shame for that)) and his skill levels have just topped 1000 points.

There is one other thing I am curious about. I know route_66 started the whole 200-point thing, but how did he determine the max attainable points in the game, and how long did it take him to do that? Did he just wear out cars until they hit minimum power and assumed all the other races (besides those particular one-make ones) were winnable for 200 points?

... but how did he determine the max attainable points in the game, and how long did it take him to do that? ....

He started the thread in Apr 2005 and attained max in July 2005. He probably started much earlier. The amount of time it will take anyone is determined by a) skill and b)time available to race c) * the limitations you set for yourself.
* e.g. Smallhorses will not use NOS (yet) and uses a different car for every race series and drives cleanly.

For an overview of people who reached max check out post #222 in 100.000 thread in this subforum.

You don't have to wear out cars to determine that 200 is max. Take a Fiat 500 or 2CV to any of the big gun races and you'll see the max points offered. Do this a couple of times and you can easily draw the conclusion 200 is max offered, bar those that you mentioned earlier. He didn't do it all by himself though. Quite a # of people have investigated this as can be witnessed by the other older threads in this subforum.

No, I knew max points for most races were 200. What I meant was, how did he and the other 200-point nutters figure out how to get the most points possible in the events that cannot give 200 points (e.g. Copens), especially since people have had so much trouble wearing their cars down all the way?

i am sure there was a lot of testing done to find this out. I have been lucky in that using the search and reading many posts you can find extremely valuable info regarding wearing the car down quick. (e.g. maximum removeable horsepower and constant redlining while on the test course will always remove max power by approx 9000 miles.) however being that there are numerous list out there created by many people that state, for example, the copens have a max point of 166. i have taken their word for it, and if thats what i get when i race, then that's good for me.

However i did come across a list that said MGF races were a max of 179 with four 160's but infact it is 180. IMO as long as i reach 100% with A-spec total 111,813 i will be happy beyond belief.

I'm unable to give you a specific answer as to what you may be doing in error as you havent mentioned how you're wearing down you ride.
So in general: wearing down is explained in post #2 of this thread.

I am running the 70's Japanese Classics in a 79 Bluebird with 93 bhp N1/N3 tyres & Mileage is 92095 Km Refreshed & Cage added .Although the car is good enough my skills are a little short & if I could reduce power I could select better tyres . So far I have 197-200-187-193 & 194 Pt's And I need the points to complete Japanese Hall .May bee there is a better car you can suggest for my PAL game ?
PS post #2 was exactly what I was looking for thanks . & May-Bee 93bhp is as low as it goes ?
Cheers Ozi

Maybe you need to have a look through the America and Japan Hall thread. There are 2 cars mentioned in post #2 and probably a few more in other posts. Another excellent source is the stock car thread in this same forum.

I can tell you exactly where you are going wrong. The 1979 Nissan Bluebird can only be bought as a used car and as such is aleady fully worn out. Wearing cars down is only possible/necessary in cases where the car has zero (or 6.2 miles) on it when you buy/win it.

Glad to see there are still A-spec nutters trying for 100K, 111K or max!
Keep it up, post #222 can use some more entries. 👍

Thanks Car-less
I gathered that after reading post #2 I had trouble finding that info thru Adv search & since have found links to it in other threads .:dunce::dunce:

And AMG
Thanks again for your tips but my PAL version of GT4 does not have the 70's Bluebird 1600SS rally car + a Rally car is not eligible for this race
+ my skills not good enough for the step van . Looks like more laps in the Bluebird hey .
I noticed in the Stock Car thread their Blue Bird is 92 bhp & mine 93bhp I might look for one with more miles on it .
PS Congrats AMG for post #222
Thanks again guys:):)

The 1600SS should be in PAL, I used it and have PAL. Perhaps you need to download Famine's list of all 2nd hand cars and check when it is available. Check stickies in GT4 forum.

IIRC you'll need approx 1400 laps of test track to make 9000 mls (starting with a new car) at which point your car should be at rock bottom power.
When a 2nd hand car has more than 9K mls it should already be at rock bottom.

AR rev, Motorland and Tr Mountain.
S2 tyres, Chip, NA2,Portpolish, Eng Balance and all the other not power addons.
Used the SS1600 on the other 2 tracks on N1s and ballast.

Also strongly suggest you download Fizios or my excel file to keep score of what youve achieved so far. You'll find it in beginner thread post 2.

I have both of these tools thanks very much to both you , Famine & Fizio
And the only Bluebirds in PAL are these.{I am sure yours was 1800SSS also}
80s Nissan Bluebird 1600 Deluxe 1969 83 930
80s Nissan Bluebird 1800SSS 1979 92 1050

I will try the step Van again & May-be I might have to play a little dirty with the AI LOL
Thanks again
Cheers Ozi

My PAL version has the Nissan Bluebird Rally Car (510) 1969 as the prize car for whistler ice rally on hard. Probably one of my top ten worst races in the game, and not a particularly great prize for your trouble, but it is there.

Ozi, you may be right with those 2, can't double check at the moment as my PS2 is currently at a LAN location to be picked up on Wed evening....
My excel file lists a Bluebird 1600SSS Rally Car, probably the same as Car-less mentioned.
Would be surprised if the rally car is not allowed though, all you need is a change of tyres.....
AMG.

PS you seem to have gathered 760K Aspecs in your sig ;)

There is nothing wrong with rubbing the AI. It is what you have to do to survive the quest. And Robert Duvall in Days of Thunder says "rubbing is racing."

Whoops , My bad .
Update Tsukuba done [200pt's] & used the Step Van :) Slammed the AI into the sand on second last cnr :sly::sly:
Cheers Ozi

ozi, you are not supposed to slam the AI, only rub them. :sly:, well done with tsukuba. I myself find that a tough track to go fast on for some reason. (I don't think i have it quite worked out yet, Bugger i have the roadster 4hr to do still).

sorry for going slightly off topic; but I know that the right people are in this folder to answer my question:
does GT5P have anything comparable to a-spec points? I already heard it has a performance point system, but I'm not sure that it is really the same.
And by the way: I'm still on my way to 100k. My job slowed me down but didn't stop me.

I don't own GT5P, but I don't think it has A-spec points. Performance points are simply a way of rating a car: a fast car will have higher PP, and putting better tires on, reducing weight, or adding power will all raise its PP level. Maybe in GT5 full version A-spec points will actually have something to do with the online racing section as I've heard it was intended for in GT4.

Hey, just wanted you all to know that I just broke the 75,000 barrier by wrapping up the Corvette series in the C1. I know that's where the "easy" points are supposed to send, but I think I can get to 90K without much trouble due to all the manufacturers races I have right now that are ten points or less. Then it gets tough... wearing cars is something I'm going to put off as long as possible, as well as the long enduros. I should be able to hit 100,000 without those two things, though.

Double posting is a little naughty (I have been guilty in the past and was pusuaded to use the edit button instead) :)

Congrats on 75k almost 3/4 of the way there.

I found getting to 100k a reasonable challenge. Just make sure you keep a track of all events done for 200 points, otherwise you may need to do what I had to do. (Spend 2 days :grumpy: finding 191 points I left in the special conditions hall :ouch:)

Wearing cars down - IMO, try to wear a car down every week. Leave the station on overnight and let usless bob :sly: do something (he does get cranky, you know :)) Otherwise it can get extremley boring, running a car down and not being able to race until it is done.

As for the enduro's, I wish I had not left the longer races until last, as the points go up really slow. For example my station was on for 1 week and I only got 400 points (2 x 24hr Le Sarthe races).

I am going to get very frustrated soon as I have left the 4hr roadster and the 1000 miles events till last (silly stupid me). Currently I am setting up for the Nurb 24hr in a Toyota Altezza. :) (yeah...I know)

Thanks, OA. I know about double posting; my understanding is that if the posts are unrelated, of good quality, and a matter of days apart, it's okay. Good advice on wearing cars; I hadn't thought of leaving it on overnight like that. Seems like the most efficient way to take care of that. I have been keeping track of all my points, but I know everybody does and still manages to lose track of a few. How is Nurb 24h coming, by the way? Then you have about nineteen hours of blocking left as your remaining points, right? Ooh...

I just finished up the "easiest" points. That is, I have now finished everything but the classics, long endurances, and some 1-makes I haven't gotten around to yet, putting me at 87810. 95K should be a breeze, but it might be a bit more difficult to get 100K, especially without wearing any cars. Maybe I should start that soon... And it's a good sign if I won some slight PITA races on the first try without blatant cheating, right? I.E. TT's, Beetles, French Champ (ha, GV was funny in that Megane vs. a Renault 5, Hommel, and Clio...), and MGs. But I couldn't win Copens at AR and Motorland on N1s even without wear, just to name one bad sign for the future... :nervous:

I don't race really dirty unless I have to, but unless I can outperform the AI significantly, I don't usually bother to make totally clean passes. The AI are too annoying for that if you're in a hurry to get to the front in a short race. And I can verify that I have become a NOS addict. :guilty: But other than route, who in this sub-forum isn't?

I am not keen on leaving 20 hours of blocking the last thing to do so I decided to try the 1000 miles instead of the nurb 24hr.

I hate the 1000 Miles (nurb race), I was in front at lap 15 and had to pit, problem is the alfa goes another lap (Reset needs to be pressed, because when he comes out of the pits, I am still 30 seconds behind him.) I need to try and get to the end of lap 16 before pitting or I am stuffed. Or try a different line-up and power. :grumpy:

Congrats on 87k not far to go now.

There are some great set-ups in the specific threads for each race to help with the hard races. Then it just comes down to practice and a little luck.

The Extreme HARD ones for me for max points (so-far) were
Copens at Motorland.
Saleens at Suzuka
Hyundai Coupe at Autum Ring
Hyundai Coupe at Tsukuba
Suzuki Concepts at Tsukuba

Other HARD one's were the rest of the above mentioned Series. Also
Minis at New York
George Rally Hard (until I used the GSX/R4)
and a few others i am sure.

IMHO nos is the only way you will get to 111,813. but i do know the smallhorses does not like it either.

:odd: Funny, Saleens must be one of those events that's easier in NTSC. Maybe the PAL car is crap or else those AI are faster, because I beat Suzuka in two tries and the rest in one, without particularly great driving. I'm glad, though! I do seem to suck at FFs, though, and so I seriously doubt my ability to earn max in Hyundais, Minis, or Copens. I won't know until I try, though, of course. :scared:

Races I have yet to attempt for more points than the 10 or so I got when I stuck a turbo on everything to finish the game: Silver Arrow, SL's, GTis, Hyundais, Mini NY, RX-8s, Skylines, Zs, Suzuki Concepts (2 of them), Suzuki K-Car, Lexuses, FGT (14 of them), 1000 Miles!, the 4+hr enduros, Infineon, and SS 150. And there are plenty of 1-makes I did on N1+200kgs without 9000 miles for less than max and have not gotten around to: 2CVs, Meganes, Astons, Lotus Classics, Spitfires, Copens, and Subaru 360s. Whew, that was a lot.

Honestly, it seems like NTSC is generally a good bit easier than PAL for max point races. Saleens and Crossfires going down for max on the first or second try, without great driving or setups, just seems too weird. I'm good at this game but not that good. It must be that the AI are faster in PAL or the cars drive better in NTSC. But a couple races are harder in my version, because faster usually means worse tire wear. 💡 Today I finished Nurburgring in GT All Stars in the 2J (ASM+TCS on!) after failing miserably in the 350Z LM and noticed that even the fastest Group C cars did not wear their tires until about the last corner, which is quite different from what was described by PAL drivers. The same this happened in GTWC: AMG. described cars pitting twice on the slow tracks, and nobody does that in NTSC.

I hope 1000 miles! goes well. :) I know that one's awfully difficult. Maybe you could try Paris and Azur first?

EDIT 6/13: I think I'll just update this post until I've broken 100K. I have finished the races that are struck through, most of which were quite easy, and now have over 93000. I also did a 200 point FGT (HSR :P). I'm now getting one car per day worn out, from bed until I get back from work. I make the necessary adjustments to the gears in the morning before I leave. Works like a charm. :D

EDIT 6/14: Broke 96K. The two short classics were stupidly easy as it turned out. Well, all but Nurburgring, of course. I'll do those two tomorrow...

EDIT 6/15: 97358. Lupos and Nurb Professional Classics done; wearing the Elan and have a bunch lined up behind it: DB7, Lexus, Mini, Polo, etc. Car wearing is going to slow my progress a lot. :grumpy: Knew I should have started that sooner. :ouch: So I have now completed all races for 200 in: American Events, Japanese Events, Italian One-Makes, American One-Makes, Special Conditions Events, Beginner Events, and Professional Events. Leaving (oh dear) French, German, Korean, British, and Japanese One-Makes, Extreme Events (FGT), Endurance Events, and European Events (five classics races). Sounds imposing to put it like that!

EDIT 6/17: Have cleaned up a couple oil-wear series. The first four Mini races went down with a new car but I didn't bother trying that at NY. So did the Infineon enduro (by five laps!), Lotus Classics, Astons, and the Lexus races. I'm now at 99425ish. 100K should come by tomorrow if all goes well.

Particularly easy for max IMO. (requiring car wear)
*Alpines (Championship it and qualify first)
*A3's (way to easy)

no wear
*Pleiades
*Premium Sports Lounge
*Enduro's [Not difficult just long] (except 4hr roadster).

Quote Austin343 "Maybe you could try Paris and Azur first?"

I think I might have too. But I was trying to do it in a championship.

Sorry this might be a bit off topic, but does it matter how many A-spec points have you got? I have completed 30 percent of the game and I only have around 3000 A-spec points
