It only matters, If you think it matters.

OMG I am just about to crack 111k, as i am currently doing Opera 1000 miles and I am 1 min in front on 55/95. This one and Azur have actually been quite easy. I wish Nurb and Sarthe were like this.

edit: Oh Yeah baby 111,213 down, 600 to go.

I just broke 100K! Racing the :censored:box (i.e. Polo GTi) for 200x5 points seemed a fitting way to pass the mark. I'll get a picture up when I can find a camera!

Congrats 👍👍👍 to you. Another one to join the 100k club.

( :yuck: Now there is only 11,396 to go :yuck:)

Thank you! And I'm soon going to be giving you a similar congratulations for a more impressive achievement. I feel very lucky to have such a wealth of information available here. It makes it easy when you don't have to sort through lineups and cars for 200 points all on your own. And I actually have many fewer left now that I gained 995 (!) from Club Z (guess what I did it in the first time? Nissan Motul Pitwork Z!).

So this is what's still left: Silver Arrow (585ish left), SL's (590ish), Hyundais (830), Mini NY (190), RX-8s (950ish), Skylines (750ish), Suzuki Concepts (382), Suzuki K-Car (570), FGT (2600 estimate, really no idea how many I did on my own for 60), 1000 Miles! (796), 10 enduros (1900ish), 2CVs (60), Meganes (125), Spitfires (110), Copens (100ish), and Subaru 360s (14).

IMO, I have listed your races left, with some difficulty levels. For when you have worn cars for the races you need to, If you need to. I didn't take any notes on most of these races, as the information provided is already way helpful. All you need to do is look in the other pages, and it's eady to find with the Second post in each page (plug's AMG's help there).

I notice that you have done the Saleen's and Crossfire races (these were a PITA, especially Saleens Suzuka, for me anyway)

10 enduros (1900ish) Extremely Easy (Except 4hr roadster, but annoyingly long)

Now I say Easy because if you have gotten this far, you shouldn't have too much trouble with these.
Silver Arrow (585ish left) - Easy
SL's (590ish) - Easy
RX-8s (950ish) - Easy
Skylines (750ish) - Easy
2CVs (60) - Way to Easy, Just qualify first.
Meganes (125) - Easy
Spitfires (110) - Easy
Subaru 360s (14) - Easy

Mini NY (190) - Tough
Suzuki K-Car (570) - Tough

FGT (2600 estimate) - can be Tough - Very Tough (I used a mazda 787b for these)

Suzuki Concepts (382) - Very Tough (especially Tsukuba)
Hyundais (830) - Very Tough (especially Tsukuba and Autumn Ring)
Copens (100ish) - Very Tough (Motorland is a B****)

1000 Miles! (796) - No comment :grumpy::sly: (altough Azure and Opera are a piece of cake).

Good Luck in finding the rest of the points, and I hope this little info is of some use.

Thanks for taking the trouble to outline those, OA. I have read through all the threads so i don't have to be too annoying by asking for help all the time, so I knew most of that but did kind of expect the Mercedes and Skyline races to be a little tougher. Many of those one-make races I will do for max as soon as the cars are worn, just haven't gotten around to all of them yet. I spent probably an hour combined of mostly failed attempts on that awful Polo just between Tsukuba and Opera, but am glad to get it done. As I've said, no way are PAL and NTSC equal in some races, especially Crossfires, because even Fizio said it was a real pain and I won first try by 0.6 seconds with the only setup being minimized ride height.

EDIT 6/19: Well, Hyundais were doable on N2s at the hard tracks and N1s at the easy ones (like many people have done) and the Mercedes series were very easy, and clean (R tires )

Now have left: Hyundais (40), FGT (1480), 1000 Miles! (796), 10 enduros (1981), and 2CVs (60).

EDIT 6/21: Cleaned up RX-8s and Meganes. Easy races. Also Skylines - not so easy when you haven't picked the right lineup and power/weight setup. Got them all, though, with varying amounts of dirtiness (not excessive). That pushes me over 105000! But the hard (and/or long) races are the ones left... :nervous:

EDIT 6/23: Did Spitfires when it wore out, and also 200 pointed four more FGTs: Sarthe, Laguna Seca, Fuji, and SS. Not too difficult yet.

EDIT 6/25: Suzuki K-Car wasn't too bad in the end. nor was FGT El Capitan. Euro Classics Nurb required a good bit of lineup-hunting and blocking but I got it out of the way too. Those combined put me within 5000 of max!

EDIT 6/26: Copens dispatched on first try, even Motorland. :odd: I'm beginning to wonder if I got a special copy of GT4 with extra-slow AI. Hyundais, 1000 Miles!, and FGT should all be cake then, right? :dopey: Now over 107000.

EDIT 6/28: FGT Infineon and Mini NY each completed for 200. Both first try! That's reassuring. SS150 and Hyundais failed miserably, though :grumpy: - will definitely put those off till much, much later. Also the last six points from each of the remaining Suzuki Concepts races, and the 14 from Subaru 360. Tsukuba in Concepts was hilarious - I cut through the grass on lap 2 so the leader T-boned me and stopped dead. Some good news: I have not lost track of any points! No 5-hour trawl through every race to find missing points. 👍

EDIT 6/29: While waiting for that stupid 2CV to wear out, I finally won Hyundai Hong Kong. I really suck at the Tsukuba and AR races though; I will probably need a lot of time to max those.

Every time I stop playing for a while, I always wander back to the boards and get motivated to pick it back up and carry on. After a couple months idle, I'm currently racing my way through the JGTC in the trusty GSX, which has finally seen me through the 75% milestone, and within a few races will cross both 80,000 points and 1,000 a-spec miles on the car.

I think I have plenty of "easy" races left to make my way to 100,000 if I can stick to it - thanks again to everybody who keeps posting progress, suggestions, and encouragement!

Hi everyone...

Glad to see you are still trying for max a-spec...👍
I thought the interest will vanish when GT5P came out.

I thought the interest will vanish when GT5P came out.

I think the fact that to get GT5P you have to have a PS3 will keep GT4 going for some time. I myself can not justify buying a new console for only a snippet of a game (and yes I know it is backwards compatible, but why replace something that is not broken. Plus I would have to start GT4 all over again).

Maybe when the full version of GT5 is available I will change, but untill then GT4 rocks and is basically the only PS2 game I play.

same here. I'll get my PS3 the day GT5 comes out. By then I hopefully made the 100k. The next thing for me is the Real Circuit Tours and Gran Turismo All Stars. But I'm having quite some problems controlling those super fast cars.

Amen to that! 👍
Preach it to the choir here, brother!!!
Slowly but surely choppin' down through those undriven vehicles and ungained points myself.
100,000 points is still a speck on the horizon, but getting nearer by the day! :D

wow. You know, I'd never taken any real notice of how or why the points were doled out, thought they were random :indiff:

just checked, and I'm at 98.6% complete, and have 12801 points. Guess I've been making a bit easy for myself huh? tut tut...

Whew! I've now completed one-makes, with the exception of arguably the two worst ones, and do not have much left to do. But many of those are going to be really hard :scared:, especially considering that e.g. the FGTs are going to pit one or two fewer times in their races than in PAL. :ouch: And I don't know that I'll be able to do the 24 hour races. My parents would go crazy! (And so would I...)

Anyway, these are my remaining races with their points (in order long-short):
Sarthe I 24hr (200), Sarthe II 24h (200), Nurburgring 24h (200), Tsukuba 9h (200), Motegi 8h (200), 4h roadster (196), and SS150 (197)

EDIT 7/1: FGT Azur was stupidly easy. MOV 3.8 laps! It just doesn't seem completely realistic that a 2J can both outpace and outdistance FGTs. But I'll take it.

EDIT 7/2: FGT NY was similarly cake with the 2J, but with a 2.3 lap MOV the PS2 decided to lock up as I exited. 🤬 So no points gain today but I bought a ton of cars.

EDIT 7/3: Great day! I won Tsukuba Hyundai 👍 with much bashing and shortcutting, and FGT GVS with the 2J (a bit insane, especially the kink at the end of the straight, but it worked); 50 second MOV. I was very careful exiting this race! :scared: Which happens to put me over 108K!

EDIT 7/4: I WON HYUNDAI AUTUMN RING! It took a couple game months of retries, but using the gamut of dirty tactics and a lot of practice, I took first by .893 seconds. That's one-make races complete! 👍 And FGT NY 2J worked this time, so I got the 200 from that too.

EDIT 7/5: FGT Nurburgring was fun and easy. 2.5 minute MOV for 200.

EDIT 7/6: FGT Motegi was much easier than I expected. It can be done without any cheating in NTSC, but I didn't realize that until I had cut the grass about ten times to get the lead. :dunce: So I can say my 0.8 lap MOV would habe been 0.5 laps, still a comfortable win.

EDIT 7/7: I won FGT Tokyo with Team666's 787B setup and some wallriding, for a 40 second win. I got destroyed by the 88C-V at SS150 though - that race still eludes me by quite a margin. :ouch:

EDIT 7/10: Won Nurburgring 4h by 7 minutes in a Garaiya. Piece of cake. Two hours into Suzuka 1000k now. And I think FGT Suzuka is winnable if I avoid that 🤬 sand all over the 🤬 course the whole race, and take the shortcut.

EDIT 7/11: Won Suzuka 1000k in a Honda S2000 LM with NA3, 100kg ballast, and R1. That car is wonderful. Now sick of Suzuka, so FGT may wait a couple days. Fuji, here I come!

EDIT 7/12: Fuji 1000k eliminated for 200 with the Mercedes CLK-GTR. Quite fun, as opposed to the snoozer that was Suzuka. I guess the car was a bit more interesting/poorly-behaved than the S2000. Aaaand... FGT Suzuka! I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was in my black FGT. Won by 50 seconds to complete the set!

EDIT 7/13: Won 1000 Miles! Opera and Azur. Easy races. Sarthe and Nurburgring I'm not so sure about. :scared: But I've at least broken the 110k barrier!

EDIT 7/14: Won 1000 Miles! Sarthe. 199 more reasonably easy points.

EDIT 7/15: 1000 Miles! Nurburgring in the bag. 👍 That leaves seven races left, all endurances, and all PITAs (five are long, two are hard).

I need to find 26 A spec points un accounted for. I am slowly checking all races.

I have 699 left in the enduros, 2 x 200 in the 24 hour events, 99 in the MX5.
525 left in the F1 races. (6 done for 200).
46 left at 1000 miles (22 at Nurb, 24 at Sarthe)
14 left at the Mini at New York.
60 left at Hyundai (156/176 at AR, 156/176 at HK, 156/176 at TS)

6 left at VWGTi at Paris
30 left at copen 151/166 DP, 151/166 ARM
8 left at Suzuki concept 196/200 at Seattle, 196/200 Tsukuba.

I honestly thought I would never get this far.

Edit, 16/9/08 passes 110,000.

Uncle Harry,

I myself lost 191 points at one stage. The last place I looked (:ouch:) was the Special Conditions hall.
I say this because this is one spot you did not mentione above. Maybe it will help.

Thanks for the suggestion, All done for 200 at special conditions.

I use winzip and it works for me. However it woul depend on what P.C. and Software you are using. If Windows, Google winzip you should be able to get a demo version which would be adequate.

BTW, welcome to the Hunt.

Thanks Open Addict. Iwill try that out. As a long time guest (and a new member) this site has really helped me get the most out of this game.

Thanks again to the members of GTPlanet!

Thanks for the welcome. I still had trouble with the winzip, I must be worse at computers than I am at Hong Kong!! Still new to the hunt, I have over 14,000 A-spec points at 12.5 % game stats, and only a B license. I am looking to get the Skyline for 1000 miles, as no license is needed there and then maybe I'll get my A license.

With the Skyline for 1000 miles, get ready to bang your controller around a touch. this can be a real pain in the neck.

However, 14,000 points at 12.5% and only b lic. is some good hunting. Keep in there you can make it to 100,000.

As for the winzip, I am sorry but that is about as far as my knowledge of the subject goes. I just know how to zip using the right mouse click and unzipping using the double left click, highlight file and extract to a location. Maybe try the winzip help. :)

Alright everyone I have a question. I thought that I'd find what I was looking for by utilizing the "search" button seeing as that is usually thrown in as a suggestion, but alas I'm still empty handed. I'm been going after the 200 pointers now for a couple of weeks, but I've stumbled upon a question regarding their total values. I understand that a race can be worth a possible 200 points, and the goal is to get them in one shot. What if I do a race for 100 points, and then do it again for 100 points, and then a third time? Won't the game only allow 200 points to be won in total for a single race? What I'm getting at, is, if you were to win a race with the example I've given wouldn't it be the same to win once for 200 aspec points, or win twice for 100 apiece? I just don't see the point in going after a 200 aspec point race, if I've already accumulatively won all there is for that particular race. Thanks for any responses guys.

Nope, your running A-Spec point total in the home screen records only one A-spec point value for each race, and that's your highest one. So if you did a particular event for 100 points, your total would go up by 100. If you did it again for 100 points or less, your total would remain the same. If you did it again for 104, your total would go up by 4. Hopefully that's clear.

This would have to be the clearest answer I have seen for this question.

However "So if you did a new event for 100 points, your total would be 100. If you did it again for 100 points or less, your total would remain the same. If you did it again for 104, your total would go up by 4." this is tweaked a little bit. Which I know is basically what Austin343 said, But I thought I'd add my 1.25cents.

It's 1.25 cents because of the current world economic state :)

Thx guys for the explanation. I've amended [post=2458945] post 2 [/post] in the Beginners thread to include the explanation. I didn't think it would be neccessary but this question has reared its head on occasion since. :)

AMG.

Yeah, that's it. I'm not very good at explaining myself sometimes. :dunce: Hopefully it doesn't get asked as often from now on with and OA's and my clarifications.

Hey guys, thanks for all the positive feedback. I was just scratching my head over that one for a few days, trying to find out for myself, then having to turn to the forums for help. I've just started to go back through the game and knock out as many aspec points as I can. I have no dillusions that I'll make it over 100k, but it's been fun none the less. The endurance races have been the most fun so far, as I don't have to put on the Normal tires for those points I need. I detest the idea of having to reset the line-ups looking for quality competition, and then still getting killed out there. Oh well, thanks again guys for all the help.

Still have not found my missing 26 A spec points un accounted for.

Still to do 299 left in the enduros, 1 x 200 in the 24 hour Ring race, 99 in the MX5.

F1 races 2 left for 200 74 left.
158/200 at Cote D'Zure
168/200 at Suzuka

46 left at 1000 miles (22 at Nurb, 24 at Sarthe)

60 left at Hyundai (156/176 at AR, 156/176 at HK, 156/176 at TS)

6 left at VWGTi at Paris
30 left at copen 151/166 DP, 151/166 ARM
8 left at Suzuki concept 196/200 at Seattle, 196/200 Tsukuba.

Less than 1000 to go.
Currently working at the F1 races.

Edit, 9/11/08 passes 111,000.

Completed the mini race at New York for 200.
