General San Andreas Discussion and Questions

where do u start the import/export missions and the missions the give u wang cars as a asset?
and anyone know of any maps around the net that tell you where to start races and all those types of missions?

I answered this in the SF help thread-- only necessary to post in one thread if you have a question. This site has less traffic then others but someone should answer any question shortly (we are pretty knowledgeable here) but you have to be patient sometimes.

As a follow up to the question--completing wang autos will unlock the SF races-- I'm not certain if this unlocks all the street races or not.

Oyster No 44 on the map on gamefaqs.com

It's in the sea top north of las venturas, near a waste handling facility

Where the hell is it? I've passed 30 min looking for it and I never seen it.

There's a little beach just near it with a slope leading down to it. It's not far off that beach.

I don't have enough time, but I have the Official Strategy Guide, which lists everything, except intentionally it leaves out the Jetpack and the Military Fighter Jet. If you can get someone to do that for you, then you would be set.

I think the Jetpack, although obviously a "vehicle" in one sense, is classified as a "weapon" in the game, which is why it sits there rotating at it's spawn point and why you can't blow it up, and it's also why you just walk into it to pick it up, not hit the triangle button to use it.

also i left out the HPV1000 on purpose
Why would you leave the HPV1000 out of a vehicle list on purpose?

KM.

Actually, the Jetpack is in the Official Strategy Guide in the Vehicles section, under "Recreational". It's called "Personal Transport System", and the picture is just a big question mark. It's similar for the Military Fighter Jet.

It would be hard to classify because you use "X" to activate it, Triangle to exit it and you can use "O" to fire the weapon that you have activated. But it also acts like a weapon in the ways that KM decribed. Also it has the same "look about" system as when you are on foot.

And Jimmy, you know how innacturate guides can be... :indiff:

Yes, but what I mean is I think that the game code classifies it as a "weapon" and not a "vehicle". That's why it behaves in the ways I described. But as Blake said, it doesn't seem to be one or the other really.

Anyway, wasn't the official strategy guide riddled with errors? I heard that the 100% guide was completely wrong and the maps had loads of tags, photo-ops, etc. in completely the wrong places.

What are those photos ops you guys are talking about? Is it needed to get 100%?
After you do the mission where you snap photos of rival gang members at a meeting in Angel Pine (can't remember the mission name), you get a message telling you to check out San Fierro to see if you can find things to photograph with your camera. There's 50 little pink camera icons hidden around the city, At night-time they have a glow around them, and if you aim your camera at them, you'll see a little pink icon of a camera. You can't see the pink camera icon without looking through the camera lens.

And yes, they're needed for 100%. You can weapon pickups at your Doherty garage for collecting all 50.

everyone know that there are 3 different fighting styles i have learned all three and whenever you learn one that is the one you use i kinda like boxing so does anyone know how or if you can change your type of fighting

Anybody have a problem not finding the thermal goggles at Zero's shop? The first time I went there, I found them, but in the last 15 times or so that I've gone looking they just aren't there.

While we're at it, are there any other places where they can be found?

I got the game (well not really my cousin got it and he lives with me and I get to use the game any time so basically it's the same thing :P) and am stuck on the mission where you have to follow that gay guy on a motorcycle after you pick up og loc from jail.

That was a toughy for me, don't waste your ammo trying to shoot him off the bike, because he eventually stops at a basketball court....All I have to say is, keep trying thats how I did it.:sly:

It's not too hard of a mission, but I failed a couple of times on the freeway. When I passed it, the guy you chase rides over to his gang, and you finish them all off.

Just memorise where to go through, including all the alleyways. Pick out spots where you should slow down, be wary of cars, etc, and you should be right. Make sure you have plenty of ammunition, and be prepared to deal with a few people should it come to that (which I think usually it does).

I had a weird thing happen today, I was on a BF-400 on the highway south of LV-- I was driving on the wrong side of the road and doing a drive by (looking to the right) on another bike on the correct side of the road (trying to knock off the driver) so I didn't see what hit me but something did and I had a super-super tight spin (similar to a superjump spin) and I sort of just spun off the road but stayed on the bike--- I wonder if I may have been hit by 2 different cars???? One started me spinning and the other boosted it????

Since I didn't really get any air I didn't get any jump stats for this but I still thought I"d mention it---

I have been keeping my eye open for a tight opening to get a bike stuck in--- I'm still hoping to get an SA superjump-- I've found a few spots but nothing promising yet--- the openings have all been too small or too big-- I did fall through gray hell on one occasion.

Has anyone thought it odd that the Monster time trial you do for Mike Toreno isn't repeatable? First of all, all the other mission races (Badlands A and B, Lowrider Race) are repeatable and secondly, it gives you your time in an arcade type Top 10, as if you could try again to beat your score and get number 1.

Also, does Emmet ever offer anything but that pathetic handgun for collection? I thought as the plot went on, he'd offer better hardware up to and including heavy weapons like rocket launchers and grenades for the right price. He's a waste of a map icon considering he's nothing more than one of dozens more weapon pickups all over San Andreas. And he's right next door to an AmmuNation anyway.

KM.

I never thought of either of those and yes-- sounds like instead of finishing the game, they just stopped adding stuff (several things seem like that)--- I forgot all about the Monster truck mission-- that would be a cool repeatable thing to do for time trials-- either that or a race in monster trucks around angel pine cross country would have been a sweet race--- same with the lack of a quad bike race.

I expected Emmet to give you something like an Uzi or an AK47 after a while, but I was also disappointed about that.

And I never thought of the Monster race. I agree with Spuds that in the end, I think Rockstar had very limited time and they rushed through it a tad, and forgot about some things. I wouldn't have minded if they pushed back the release date a bit more if they were adding more things in. I would've been annoyed at the time, but in the end, it would've all been worth it.

Does anyone have any good tips for the Shooting Range? I am only having problems on level 9 and 12 (shotgun and AK47 where everybody shoots at the same targets). I beat level 9 on about my fifth try, but then I got blown away on level 12! Now I have to go through all of them again! :banghead:
