My take on how a 3.8 twin turbo model could look.
A man can dream can't he...
A man can dream can't he...
He's right. I sat in a 2.0T Track model, and the interior doesn't even look that good compared to the Si. It's a shame that exterior color of the car seems to dictate the color inside though, or that's how it is according to Build site.
Ugh, leather in a track car...
Man, I turned down going to the formula d party tonight, my feet are killing me! lol. We hit the south hall, up and down, and the center hall, as well as outside today. Crazy stuff.
Anyways.. Here are pics. I am editing them out of my previous post because those were poor quality
The Seibon car. This was right inside and the firstone I saw. I was nicely impressed that a gen was basically getting front door exposure.
Of course, we all know and love this car
This one surprised me, I've not heard anything about it before. All three of these cars are right up front as you walk into the center hall, which is where most of the big names and cars are.
The injen car was toward the back of the center hall. I was just wandering around waiting for the Hyundai press event.
The Ark guys didn't have a booth, but their car was outside in full glory
Rhys, shortly before the reveal of the RM460
Some shots of the Hyundai booth before their press reveal.
Derek Joyce. Really cool guy to talk to. You can tell that he loves cars and motorsports!
Rhys announcing the RM460
Drumroll.........
The all important r spec! I'm not posting a ton of pics, since it pretty much looks like a track.
The hennessey car was in the Hyundai booth. Turbo'd, they are apparently expecting 500hp out of it, but it has not been dyno'd
The Greddy 2.0 turbo. I don't recallthe specific numbers but I think it was around 325 maybe? I will have to confirm that...
I have to apologize to this guy. I don't remember his last name (or know how to spell his first...) but Larry knew him and he helpped build the RM460. Really cool guy and he hinted that Rhys may possibly be competing in the RM. He confirmed that they decided to stay with the stocksheet metal rather than replacing all the panels with caron fiber, which kind of surprised me. Though putting the Tau in the back really evens the weight out, and I imagine that keeping some ofthe weight up front is advantageous
And lastly, something to haunt your dreams... I found it somewhat funny that Ford is a major sponsor of SEMA this year but the floor was basically dominated by Camaros. This is quite possibly the single most hideous Camaro at the show. Even more odd is that it was sitting in a sea of Camaros under the bowtie.
That mid-engined Genesis is really nice, but I need to learn more before I'm really convinced that it is truly legit. Are there any specs on it?
We got word at work today that the R-Spec has been confirmed and should be arriving in dealers after SEMA. I want.
I'm sure he'll build upon that platform for next year's Pike's Peak car.
Yeah I read that too but I don't know how useful it's actually going to be. I think anyone that is seriously going to track the thing is going to have some kind of after market suspension on it anyways, kind of reducing the need for so much adjustment in the camber since it's going to go a bit negative once the car gets lower anyway. Also, the R-specs are getting new camber bolts that'll be available as an accessory for the other cars. I think the original ones only went to like -1 or -1.5 degrees, and the back only did -.5. Can't remember what the max is on these new ones but I think they were supposed to be good for at least -2.5deg.

Cloth seats as well right?
Also, are you just a big Hyundai fan or do you work for Hyundai in some way? I work at a Hyundai dealership, so I hear about things sooner than most people, but it seems you're on top of the game about them.
Woah wait, the U.S. doesn't have the Genesis on sale right now? In Canada, it went on sale during the summer.
I'm an idiot. Hyundai doesn't make a 3.8L I4.It's not the mitsu engine, and I wouldn't go to Hennessey period.

But seriously, it doesn't make any sense.
I was aware that the 2.0 was the only one being put into production, was not aware there would be a 3.8, that right there is excellent news! You forgot to mention that this is the 3.8 R-spec. The 4pot has been out for a while. Well, this is good news but you could've put it in the Gen Coupe thread. I remember being in a chat with the Genesis project leader when they were contemplating the 2.0t R-spec, and he said they'd try a 3.8 if the 2.0 sold well. Looks like that's the case.
So...why couldn't they just give this a bit more power? Taking 68lbs out of the car that's great. But not including at LEAST 10bhp increase is not that great. I'd rather just save my money and spend it on mods to the standard V6. *shrugs*
Not to mention the loaded fully track trim is pushing a little over 30 grand, So this is basically a steal. This is a modern day sports car unplugged. Cant wait to some track numbers with a good tune.!You don't get it. This is the standard V6. Except it has an LSD and different camber bolts. All the go parts, none of the show parts. This is the car you buy to mod instead of buying the loaded Track trim.
