It's not a special hot track model. It's a model for tuners and track people who will be doing their own work to the car. Find my gen coupe thread and see what I'm talking about. The 4 banger sucked but the V6 is a good one.

Sounds like a very unique approach. Who caters to tuners like that? Ford Racing does similar with Mustang, but they are for track, and comes stripped of everything.

Wow, kind of surprised they took the cruise control out though. I understand it's a lightweight model and all, but dang, I dig me some cruise. Ah hell, I'd still buy it. And then I'd buy the cruise control and put it on lol.

JCE
If this is a special hot track model with all that extra work to the suspension and rear end why wouldn't you not expect to get even 10 measly more bhp? I'm not asking for a fully loaded nuclear bomb, just the simple stuff like an intake and exhaust? Hell even just an intake would do the trick.
The great thing about the Genesis is that if you really want more power out of it, a small tune can provide that with just factory parts.

We're picking up around 20whp with the 3.8 depending on supporting mods with just a tune. We're now around 300whp with intake, exhaust and a tune, not bad at all and makes for a really fun car.

The aftermarket is finally catching up to the 3.8 and we now have long tube headers, true tunes and stroker kits available.

The R-Spec 3.8 is NOT a lightweight model, it's an affordable performance coupe with none of the luxury items from the 3.8 Track.

I've been hearing now that out of the 2.0T & the 3.8, the latter is the one really worth modding. A bit funny considering a year ago, the 2.0T was getting a large selection of parts available.

Actually, not of the two are great tuner platforms, for now.

With the upcoming engine refresh with the 2.0T getting 280hp and the 3.8 getting DI'ed and a higher rev limit, bumping the power up to 350-360, these will be the engines to get.

Do you have confirmation for this? I haven't heard Derek Joyce announce anything.

I really hope this isn't for the 2012 model. I'd hate to look at the '11 models & see this refresh come out. :ouch:

I can no longer find the thread on GenCoupe. An employee dealership confirmed during a meeting with an executive from Hyundai.

Remember this car has been out for over 3 years now in Korea and for close to 2 years in the US, it is due for a mid-cycle refresh.

Basically a Genesis coupe, but a bit lighter, Stripped out.

Going back to the basics of " stripped out rear wheel drive Asian coupe" remind you of anything from back in the 80-90s?

On the outside you get some new 19" special R spec factory rims, which look great. It's 68 pounds lighter, and 4000 grand less then a "Track package"

You still have the big brembos, 19" rims and other racey things like Torsen LSD, But for the out of the box tuner fans, you get adjustable front strut camber bolts.

No nav, no cruise control, no auto leveling headlights, just a proper 6 speed "manual" and the drivers seat.

Such a very amazing link!
Thanks you for the post.

I really like reading this forum I just drop by here and try to read it just want to learn things guys. Thank you for posting such a topic. Do you have some wheel hub that can help me with my car?

edit: Whoops, wrong thread.

But, yes, I will try to stay up to date with Gen Coupe stuff. In the meantime, you can bump the Gen coupe thread I made.

edit 2: Well, I merged the threads anyhow.

Face lifted Coupe spy shots have hit the web. More than likely the car will be getting the new, hotter V6 with 333hp. Rumor has it that the 2.0T will be upgraded to the version from the Sonata, which produces 274hp. 👍

Nissan?
Looks like the Sonata and veloster and all the other new hyundais, terrible front.
They should've done something along the lines of a slight facelift and not a butchering. If the subayota costs $28k like rumors have said, I think hyundai would've benefited. The new front will drive buyers away.

It looks like they took an old model and chopped off the front 3 inches or so of the nose, but didn't put any bodywork over the hole they created.

I think you're right, considering the snap shots that popped up on the net in the last few days.

They killed it. :yuck:

I hate the cheeky foglights that it shares with the Accent, but otherwise... I'm digging it. A lot less anonymous than the previous car.

What I'm wondering is if they fixed the suspension. Gen-Coupes don't have the proper damping for a good back-roads romp and could benefit from some proper damper-matching.

Of course... this being Hyundai... that's a vain hope...

The new face is certainly more aggressive, and I think will do well to differentiate it (and the Genesis sedan) from the rest of the competition.

Oh my god, it's hideous. They killed it. Not a Gen Coupe fan anymore at all.

Then again, Hyundai has a knack for really awful facelifts:

Hilariously, everyone on Gen Coupe is celebrating the resale value of their cars going up. Everyone hates it.

I think the greatest fear I would have would be people not being able to differentiate it from the Veloster at a distance. I mean, from the front anyway.

Ahh!... Me likey. Looks like a much better design than the previous Genesis. I really dislike the look of the current model, It just looks odd and somewhat cheap with that narrow snout.

This facelift makes it look more like a 'premium' car. Should look grean in lime green. :)

Ah well, I prefer the current one better.. The latest one looks like something yawning. In my opinion, not good...

I'm not digging the foglights, but I prefer the new front end to the old one. The last model had a cheap looking face which wasn't well suited to the car.
