-> TBH, I like the new GenCoupe schnooz. It looks a little more agressive and (finally) less of a wannabe Infiniti G37. Since the photos are kinda grainy, I'd like to see it in action. It also does the Veloster look on which pretty distinctive, plus this one has LED DRLs! I'm just hoping for a tailights similar to the ones like these:

^ I know its 'chopped, it came from the zenki GenSedan.

:indiff:

Come on... people actually like the looks of the old Genesis Coupe? it was one of the blandest, most-personality-devoid front ends ever.

I mean, look at this:

The headlights have that reverse boomerang shape that gives it the look of a cheeky cartoon cat. There's too much empty, unused and unstyled space between the headlights and the grille, much as in the new (horrid) 1-series re-style, and it's always reminded me of a Toyota Celica that's been stung by a bee. Not unattractive, but a little anonymous and sort of puffy looking and slightly droopy.

The new one hews to the design language, yes, but it's individual... not generically Hyundai like the Accent-Elantra-Sonata line-up are. There's purpose to the edging and shape of the headlights in coordination with the grille. In fact, they've managed to keep the boomerang headlight motif, which is a nice touch. The fender lip under the foglights is a bit of a conceit... trying to mimic front-aero on track cars... but it's not bad... and would actually work with brake ducts.

The only thing wrong with that picture is the foglights... I'd rather have inserts than sculpted pieces... but the foglights on the old car looked too much like teeth in a toothless lower grille... sure... the aggression and testosterone are a bit over-exaggerated, but I have no doubt buyers will be digging the fresh looks.

^ I kinda like the foglight creases tucked underneath the LED-DRLs, it makes the overall front-end more distinctive.

:sly:

Oh my god, it's hideous. They killed it. Not a Gen Coupe fan anymore at all.

Then again, Hyundai has a knack for really awful facelifts:

You have to admit though – that’s a pretty apt demonstration of how far Hyundai has come over the years in terms of styling. I don’t think it’s possible to give them enough credit for how much they’ve turned things around in the past 10 years.

The last gen Tiburon was a much better looking car than the current cars Hyundai puts out, in my opinion. They took a step back.
I think they need to make the front end a bit less vertical on the coupe. Add some slant to it.

^ The problem with many Hyundais of old is that those designs had too much *kimchi*. While the 2nd-gen Coupe/Tiburon/Tuscani and the previous gen Sonata didn't have much *kimchi* to stand out (but I like those cars myself).

I love...the old coupe. This thing is horrid, It's nice to know you can buy a nice used one instead of this "thing" I'm not sure but i think somewhere on the genesis forums some one said Hyundai was testing out different looks for this, Hopefully this is it. because if this end up being the "production" model...then just wow, not good at all. nothing about that front says anything about genesis, just a wide mouthed elantra.

I feel like with the new one they couldn't pick a style. So they just went with all of them.

Current coupe with front, from picture few posts up, chopped in. I'm sure wherever turbo got it from had more info.

Look at the 2 white spots along the front wheel arch on both of the above pics. And then another on the bottom of the front bumper, under the fog light. Look o be in the exact same place in both pics.

That's probably a photoshop from BKMania. They blacked out everything.

Anyway, I don't know why they had to go the largemouth bass look. Hyundai was on a roll with the interesting fluidic sculpture route. This is not so fluidic.

I wonder if Hyundai will ever bring the new Grandeur here as the Azera. I don't think they want to step on the toes of the Sonata and Genesis. Especially since the Sonata is made in Alabama while the Azera comes from Ulsan.

If they could morph that language into a sporty shape for the next-gen coupe, that would be much better than this ugly "refresh".

The Genesis looks somewhat outdated, I agree, but it was designed around the time Hyundai produced the Avante HD, which isn't exactly a treat for the eye. Just three years ago, none of Hyundai's cars had the sensual lines and fantastic designs (the new Avante MD is quite simply gorgeous ) they have today, and adapting the current design language to the "old" era Genesis has to be a hard task for the chief designer, seeing as they cannot alter the overall shape of the car to fit the current fluid designs.

Many people reckon the Genesis as capable of holding much more power within it's competent chassi, Hyundai is answering with forced induction. Either way, I think the Tau 5.0 V8 would be even more awesome, albeit from not knowing if it would fit the engine bay.

The Tau would probably be a tight fit in there, but yes, it would be awesome in the Genesis Coupé. But I wouldn't mind if a supercharged Lambda was the only option

I'm terribly interested in how a potential Mustang GT-killer from Hyundai could turn out.
