i still remember the first time i heard the sound of the 350z in need for speed underground 2.... and i dont think gran turismo 5 even beat that, its fine when you have got the physics but that true car sound is what gets the heart pumping when you put that foot down and to ths day gt5 dosnt have that, take forza for eg.. ok the sounds are better but they all have a samey feel between cars so i do hope they fix this but im not holding my breath until the next gen gt.

A friend of me does have an 350z. And back then when he had still the stock exhaust installed the sound in the cockpit aswell as from the back of the car where VERY accurate in gt5! A 350z doesnt sound very brutal in real life!
So the sound in need for speed may sound ,,better'' (louder, wilder) for you but nowhere as realistic as in gt5!

Try out the Amuze/Opera Performance 350z RS from the Gran Turismo dealership. Leave it stock and slowly rev it up. Sounds amazingly realistic (at least to a real life version of that car)

If there ever was a video demonstrating just how far GT's sounds fall short, that's it...well done...👍

This almost made me cry the first time I heard it:

Not if you have a G27. Makes the shifting sound realistic

I own a G27 and you can make it sound similar but the intake sound is still missing and the engine doesn´t sound as it should...sadly.

This has nothing to do with the wheel you have or how you should drive with it, not even the sound system. If some parts of the engine sounds are missing you can´t do nothing about it.

Oh yeah I know that. I was mainly talking about exhaust

Need to concentrate exclusively on exhaust note not the whine of engine or turbo if you want good sound when racing. Need to hear the V8 growl under acceleration and the burble when changing down gears. Forza 4 has a more base engine sound compared to the GT series

I believe there is a problem reproducing the eco sound from the environment ,cause there is non in Gran turismo 5 u can hear the engine but no eco at all .

Probably it needs to be boosted up couple of notches ,not a sound master but i think that it a part of the problem .

That's one of the things GT does right though. At least better than its peers.

It doesn't do wind noise very well, at least not in the last version I played. Far too loud for the most part.

There was also still the issue of cars around you drowning out your own car so much so you can't even hear when to shift.

Yeah they fixed a lot of that. I hated that update. Stupidest thing that was implemented. The wind noise is a lot better, it isn't as bad as it was. I guess you can say they leveled it out. Same thing for the engine fade, they really fixed that to be realistic

If PD don´t make it right this time (99,9% assured) I will loose all my hope for them since I think they don´t really care about having realistic engine sounds in the game at all.

6 games with almost same engine sounds but better quality.

Its sad how V8's sound like buzzing Honda's and how PD simply does not know what induction sound is.

Well, if you wouldn't put a racing exhaust on a Camaro or Corvette it wouldn't sound that way. I still don't understand why people put those exhausts on there cars. That four cylinder engine swap sure was worth the little extra HP.

Maybe I missed the memo, but I thought when one put a "racing" exhaust on a car it should sound like a "racing" car.

I know. Like I have said before I hope they fix this in GT6. Just on GT5 good way of avoiding the horrible sound is sacrificing a few HP.

That's all that I meant by that.

I didn't find the sound any better with the other exhausts either, on most cars..

Depends on the car really. Only a few sound good with aftermarket exhausts.

I just hope they solve this some way some how. Wish they did what LFS did and let us tune our own exhaust notes.

i get a kick out of people that say it sounds correct if you're wearing a helmet. It's not close, my z/28 sounds nothing like that when i wear a helmet, ear plugs or passed out drunk in the back "seat".

Like I said above.

I was just talking about avoiding the four cylinder sound.

Anyway, sorry for the confusion. My fault.

I believe road and tyre noise needs to be far louder IMO
And wind noise should be deafening at high speeds!

Hear the buffeting - especially down the straight at Fuji, you can barely hear the engine at the end of the straight at max velocity

It's why GT5 feels a bit "empty" without these noises

I wouldn't get my hopes up this generation.
