PD are quite capable of changing sounds from version to version - sometimes for the worse....
In any case, let's hope they're just holding back from showing all the hands at the moment, which has been the case in previous years

GT5:P

Now there's something I'd never noticed before. The sound of that Corvette in GT5P is totally acceptable. Very nice, even. And then in GT5 it gains the "vacuum cleaner overlay" whizzy noise. Ugh.

Do it how you did in GT5P, PD!

Hints why I drive the PSP version of the Corvette online in GT5. Also the standard 787B sounds a lot better too.

That sounds more like someone put on that Transmission that for some reason adds gearwhine. I don't ever remember driving it stock and hearing that.

Agreed.

The GT5 video sounds like somebody's modified the car. I don't remember the stock car sounding like that. I remember it sounding like it did in GT5P.

The car is stock, but even then the upper revs of the GT5 version sound too chipmunk and synthetic

GT5:P had better collision sounds too...
Tyre noise is better in GT5

GT5:P had more realistic wind/tyre noise blend at high speeds

The GT5:P sounds a lot closer to this, but ahh it doesn't have the heavenly V8 yowl and orgasmic throttle blips on downshifts!

In my opinion the 2D is one of (if not) the best sounding car in the game. Where even when at high rpm, it sounds rough and meaty.

Offboard, the 2D sounds great.

Onboard, it still sounds like a silly whizzy thing with a hint of great in the background.

Try the same with max final gear.

Then you'll see the reason.

well the so called vacuum cleaner sound you described is the racing transmission which actually does sound like that in real life it's just that the pd sound department puts too much emphasis on that particular sound sample

Need to concentrate exclusively on exhaust note not the whine of engine or turbo if you want good sound when racing. Need to hear the V8 growl under acceleration and the burble when changing down gears. Forza 4 has a more base engine sound compared to the GT series

but to be honest forza has more prominent and aggressive engine sounds but they are still far from realistic some cars seem to have rehashed sounds from other cars i've noticed that with a lot of games though

This is how the Vette sounds on PC.
I don't think we will get something like this until we get a GT on PS4.

Not the exact same Corvette. The one Imari refers to is the Art Morrison Corvette.

Better hardware isn't going to automatically make the sounds better, PD still need to get their 🤬 straight and try something new. So far they've just been using the same samples for 15 years. You could give them all the resources in the world but if they don't want to change, we will never see a change.

Jalopnik says that fixing poor sounds should be no.1 priority for GT6.

Now print 100 copies of the page and send them to PD :)

Yeah. But that's Jalopnik. The ones who say Mr. M. Bay ripped the design of Bumblebee off. Let PD focus on more than simply sounds, I think AI, loading times, online stability, physics, menus and more stuff is needed more than different sounds. Just me?

Peaceful occupation (by 500 people) of PD's front steps is what's required.

Sound is the #1 by far. I would buy GT5 again renamed as GT6 if only the sounds were improved to the levels of some of the videos shown here.

Just to spite you, there releasing MarioKart with better sounds, no weapons and massive loading times. When you flip they'll say "We gave it better sounds" :)

Sounds are surely an issue but if I could choose only one thing that would be fixed or added from GT5 to GT6 sound would not be it though it would probably be in the top 10.

Just no, sound is a mayor part of the core gameplay, it's not a case of one over the other.

The way most people talk is that they don't want anything else. They wouldn't be satisfied if 6 was just improved sounds, and we'd have the same over and over and over. Sounds are on a low priority compared to the many bugs in online, offline and other aspects of GT including AI and the rest. That was my sarcasm making a joke to try make my point clear.

It is expected that bugs be fixed (ie menus that take minutes to load and online that DC's), this need not be said.
In-fact these bugs should be fixed in GT5 in the first place.

Well to developers software bugs and online glitches are more important for the game to function at all. This is why it is a core priority over game experience.

But I agree sound reproduction should be equally as important as realistic simulation physics - handling model, aero model, suspension, tyre model, sound is equally important as vision as is human hearing to the vision you experience everyday.

Sound really should be a lot better than it is. Take a look a turn 10 for examples mr kaz. Theres an idea of where engines sounds should be heading. The dif between straight 6 or flat 6, v6, v10 v12. The sound and of a ferarri on fm4 really makes the drving experience thrilling the unique engine sounds of Ferrari. Its not there for ferrari or any other car in gt5.

To me it doesn't make the car exciting to drive if the sound of the car isn't all there. The car seems lifeless, dull, plain, boring. But yet we somehow still put up with the sounds and live with it. I realize when I want better experience I turn to forza 4 to drive my ferraris.

I hope you're wrong. PD are well known for attention to detail so surely once we see a GT on PS4 we will be right to expect better sounds and I am sure that PD will come good.....I hope so anyway. :nervous:
