Because he did a better job in 5 minutes than PD did in 16 years.

PD's not even trying. Apparently this is their vision for GT. Or should I say their hearing for GT, because everyone else can hear that the current sounds are utter crap.

-.- you know how many cars have that exact same sound. I don't think if they that car on a dyno... it would sound exactly the same as a Takata NSX..... or the same as like 20 other moddified cars in Gt5 once u change exhaust.

Common PD, i know cars can sound similar but i have heard that exact soudns from like 20+ different cars already. You sure your putting on dyno? or are u just inserting sound from previously dyno'd cars?

pretty sure JGTC NSX doesnt sound like BMW Gt3

Sorry for double post.... didnt realize i had already posted in this thread before hand.

GT5 Aventador:

Real Aventador:

this post is living proof that the sound of GT5 is too ridiculous, even to the extreme, hey polyphony not want GT6 turn only "dlc" the fifth

I think a game, have a motto, a trademark of reality, is to bring us gamers sound like this is pure ********, lack of experience? nothing is how many and how many races by Kaz did out there ...

Do you see how many different studios worked on it (6 including Turn 10)? You could argue that PD should do the same, but their philosophy is to work themself on their product.

Maybe so, but they could stand to put more than three guys on the job, even without bringing other studios into it.

Sounds have not been a priority for PD that much is obvious to a blind man. If GT6 comes out with similar sound quality the only way we'll get it changed is to begin complaining the day the game is released and not stop until GT7 comes out. It just isn't good enough, especially when you consider the resources at their disposal, then it becomes a crying shame:tdown:

The extended credits for GT5 have more or less the same people credited as for GT5:P. I don't know why they did it that way; perhaps because the sound designers haven't actually contributed anything new to GT5 over GT4 / GTPSP / GT5:P. We're still yet to hear that work.

That's quite an implication you're trying to make, but it's actually wrong. Most microsoft employees are contractors, and the managing firm that manages them are required to be listed in the credits (they're in parentheses after the person's name.) The only people on that list who weren't on site are The Audio Guys - everyone else is internal, just not a full-time microsoft employee. If you look at the other content production areas (ie car or track artists) you'll see that nearly everyone is a contractor

I'm pretty sure they have already, don't forget that the team size almost doubled while they developed GT5.

Oddly enough, I went to look at GT4 for the sake of comparison.

http://www.allgame.com/game.php?id=43386&tab=credits

Sound Producer Shinpei Yamaguchi
Sound Director Masao Kimura
Sound Design Keiichi Kitahara, Yuji Yamauchi, Yuji Yamagishi, Kentatou Nakagoshi, Masaaki Kaneko, Koichi Yamazaki, Kaori Ohshima, Takashi Kanai, Noburo Masuda

I count 11 people, and there's separate people credited for music in the game. Seems fairly comparable to Forza.

It seems very odd that there would be such a large drop from GT4 to GT5:P/GT5.

And it isn't just the overall size of the team, is how the team works with accuracy.

GT5:P, from the same site.

Sound Simulation Daisuke Takeuchi, Youhei Shimizu
Sound Producer Shinpei Yamaguchi
Lead Sound Designer Masao Kimura
Sound Designer Yuji Yamauchi, Takashi Uno, Noburo Masuda, Mizuki Tsuda, Ryou Yamamura, Tomohiro Imura

Notice the addition of "simulation", remember the news from Kaz that they've been working on a "completely new way" of "generating sound" for "a few" years (also: "placeholder") and:

From GT5's long ending movie (liable to be pulled):

Lead Sound Designer Masao Kimura
Sound Simulation Daisuke Takeuchi, Youhei Shimizu
Assistant Sound Producer Mizuki Tsuda
Sound Designer Keiichi Kitahara, Takashi Uno, Kenjirou Yagi, Masahiro Fuji, Noburo Masuda, Keita Sone, Tsubasa Ito, Makoto Yamaguchi, Ryo Yamamura, Tomohiro Imura.

Pretty much the same thing as GT5:P.

For both GT5 and GT5:P, there is also credit given for "JAPAN Studio Sound & Video Library Team" employees, about 5 of them in either case.

I'm willing to bet that "sound simulation" is an awkward translation for audio engine, so these two people are their audio developers/coders.

GT sounds are utter rubbish.

Unless they pick up they're game I will certainly not be picking up GT6.

My 1.6l getz has a more enthusiastic sound than any car in GT5 (except maybe the speed12).
It is an insult to any car fan or car manufacturer to have such poor lifeless sounds.

I do not understand how the likes of Pagani and Lamborghini allow their creations in a game with such dull sound.

^This I don't understand, Andy Tudor from SMS said in an interview about Ferrari Racing Legends that getting the Ferrari license wasn't an easy task. Ferrari demanded dumbed down damage and "spot-on" engine sounds for the game. The final result is actually pretty decent but somehow, when it comes to GT5, Ferrari apparently didn't give a ****.

Chippy: well that's what an "engine" should be, simulation - and simulation on a computer inherently implies programming. ;)
These two popped up out of nowhere, previous games apparently didn't need dedicated sound programmers - most games still don't get dedicated programmers for sound today. That says enough in and of itself.

The irony being the sounds are far from "spot on" in TDFRL. It's probably just part of the marketing on both sides.

My theory is that the manufacturers have been shown the new sounds PD are working on, at some level.

Also, your 1.6l sounds better than a 787b? LFA?

Ah, that's more like it. So they're really not lacking in people compared to other similar games.

Then again, a credit list is not necessarily the same as the number of people who actually worked on it. For example, FIFA 14 could release with no extra commentary, but would still have to credit the original commentators. A few of those people may have just done sound recordings that were re-used, for instance.

More enthusiastic than any car in GT5

Which Kaz has said they're (PD) working on.
We've seen several videos that show the progress on sounds is nil. The game is a only few months from releasing and even sooner to be written on disc and distributed.
They are going to have to pull something major out of a hat at the next games conference, demo or early DLC to get me interested in buying.
I also know a few other people with a sour view of GT after GT5, vehicle sounds and AI are their main gripe and unless improvements are made they will also not touch GT6.

It's not 1999 any more, you can't overdub a teaser video, release the game with lifeless sound and get away with it, some people will move on, including GT fans who've grown up smoking GT.

We want to feel the thrill of these violent 600-800 horsepower beasties, most of that comes from enthusiastic sound. Otherwise we might-as-well mute the sound and pretend we drive an electric train or fly a glider.

Instead of me wasting my fingers away, typing what was meant, I'll let CM Punk do it for me with his lips and vocal box:

It has colorful language.

You do realize that the 787B and LFA are in GT5, right?

Both of which sound damn "enthusiastic". Along with the Speed 12 and some others I can't think of right now. (of which are my personal opinion).

I can't help but agree more. Hopefully it'll be addressed in GT6. If not by launch, a subsequent patch.

...or PD will just scrap trying to finish it for GT6 and work on polishing it for GT7. I hope it's the former (Release/Patch it in GT6) rather than the latter (Use the new sound generator in GT7)

Maybe it's not exactly indicative of the size of the sound team that PD use, but it's about as good an estimate as we're likely to get without someone who actually works there telling us.
