Have you guys seen this video of the X2010? It sounds really good, or at least sounds better than GT5's.
BTW I'm new here, so hello! :)[/quote]

Lol

We have no reference point.... If the car sounds like that in real life then yeh... I guess it sounds good. If not then it sounds terrible lol.

Well, great game so far.

Except sounds of GM V8's still suck.

Terrible.

Awful.

Pathetic.

No excuses since the Ferrari V12's and Mercedes V8's and Audi V10's sound quite good.

I cannot even drive the C7 Anniversary car anymore... it sounds nothing like the actual C7. It sounds ore like an angry 4 cylinder Datsun 510 with a broken muffler.

All this effort, fantastic game, unbelievable graphics, really good physics engine and crap sounds?

The only explanation can be is that Kaz is tone deaf and cannot feel/sense/fear the real sounds correctly, so in his minds ear the 'Merian V8's are perfect sounding like angry Datsun vacuum cleaners.

I have come accept this, parked the C7 and am enjoying the rest of the V6,10 and 12 engine sounds.

Mazda efini RX-7 Type R FD 91 sounds like it has a super charger although on bonnet view you can gear the psshht dump when you change gears of a turbo. Can anyone else confirm it sounds like a super charger?

Whereas the MK1 MR2 Super Charger 86 doesn't sound like it has a supercharger at all? No whine nothing.

No. They seem be worse to me.
Large theatre mode is not any more a good choice, small gives better sounds now..
PD really needs to check their 5.1 channel balances and equ values better.

Edit: Sorry, Living room and Small theatre are totally blurred stuff, only what gives some decent sound is still that Large theatre and 110% Sound effects volume.

我々に良い音をください、さもなくば私は gt6 を返して、そして forza を買うでしょう。
=Give us a good sound and and otherwise I return gt6 and will buy forza.

Its not a perfect translation but that's basically telling kaz If you don't give us good sound I will return gt6 and buy forza 💡.

I'm sure he will get Translator San to help him, might change it a little though then i'll tweet it to him.

Unfortunately that logic does not hold for two reasons.

1. The sounds are still there in third person view in the replay.
2. In a vacuum the cone hitting the car would cause the car to vibrate, and in turn you and/or parts of your suit to vibrate. You would feel it much more than you would hear it, but if you heard any noise at all, it would be some part of your suit vibrating and it wouldn't sound like hitting a cone, it would sound like part of your suit vibrating.
1. Ok
2. I'm not sure I agree. I think on Earth, if you hit a cone, most of what you hear in the shock sent through the car and into the cabin air. I'd like to find of video of the Lunar Lander touching down and see if the astronauts can hear it hit the moon.

Also, if you whack one of these cans with a traffic cone, the other person will hear a thump, not just feel vibrations.

The thing with the SLS GT3, is that while it sound good on the inside, it's not unlike GT6 in sound on the outside :)
I think PD only record exhausts and not much intake sound....
And have the mic too close to the car, so you hear all the air rush and zing

Just watched some videos AdrianF1 posted today of a Huayra and the SLS mentioned above, and noticed i remembered the exact same sample as used on other cars in GT5 that i drove.

I'm almost sure that they just re used samples on the new cars, and switched around some on the already existing ones here and there. Placeholders indeed...

Likewise, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am for example sounds exactly like the Camaro IROC-Z concept in GT5. I know the cars are related, but the engine is different.

Excellent post Cogency - I wish PD could reproduce sounds like that.

By the way has anyone tried GT6 with Buttkickers / Bass Shakers. I'm eager to know if tactile transducers work as well, better or worse in GT6 than GT5. I haven't received my copy of GT6 so I can't check personally yet and it would be nice to know - especially some thought on comparisons between cars e.g. Mercedes V8's.

Haha, and everyone was hating on me in 2010 for saying GT5 sounds were ****. I am not surprised to see that 3 years later things have not changed. There's no way I'm spending money for finished game for a 120 cars and 7 tracks expansion.

I think its that PD are too afraid to go over the top with sounds and exaggerate it and distort it.

MAzda 787B was the best sounding car in Gt5 because the sound was over the top and distorted.

I think with all the complaints about sounds they should realise they are too conservative and should just go all out. Even if the sounds are not accurate people will prefer it to what we currently have.

Anyway the last 2 videos posted of teh Ferraris and the Audis make me realise just how much COOLER a GT game would be if the sounds and and replays were like that!!! WOW imagine that.

Dear Polyphony Digital, on the PS4, please make the Ferrari FXX sound like this video.

Favourite car sound sample ever!! I haven't driven nor hear the FXX in the game...be nice if they made some kind of attempt at realism but I'm not holding my breath...

Until I discovered that the Murcielago and McLaren F1 with race exhausts used the same sound file...

Bought GT6 the other day - still waiting for delivery. I signed up to join this thread and request - for what it's worth - better engine sounds.

Even if only partially - please PD, give us *something* as soon as possible. Maybe 10 or 20 cars so we know you're going in the right direction ?

If cars will sound like in this trailer we're good :)

The Honda Fit on the beggining sounds horrible, I swear it sounds really like a vacuum cleaner and nowhere near a car! ! ! Not sure if Kaz is trolling or...........
I suppose I should make this my last appearance here, because I have the exact opposite opinion. I watched a replay as a FIT passed the camera, and the similarity to the sound of an econobox passing me on the highway was uncanny. Love the sounds all around so far, tires, everything.

I notice the "engine" sound volume is linked to throttle position, but not linearly - it's sort of on/off and comes "on" regardless of throttle position below a certain engine speed, presumably so idling sounds right. (This is likely the source of the mechanical noise some people were complaining about).

Not sure that's the best way to have done it, but perhaps they don't have the bit-width available to be able to do proper scaling. Sort of doesn't bode well for the new sounds, unless they can open up some bandwidth by not blending multiple samples any more...

This game grates me sometimes... The engine sound in the exterior view (the one where you see the whole car in front of you) on many cars is basically non existent. Try the X Bow on the Goodwood track to see what I mean.

Considering this is the view I like to drive with, and the fact that I use the sound of the engine to change gear, it basically makes driving these particular cars pretty crap. Thanks for that PD.

Seriously, how hard is it to have the engine sound play correctly in all the views. It's pathetic. Please fix it....

I have said my piece, may the coding gods hear my plea.

I have been coming here for years, always avoided these sound threads. But the tyre squeal sound in GT6 is painfully bad. This needs to be fixed ASAP

Also the general volume of the sound effects is really wonky.
