As to above, I hope there will be an option to lock the cam in multiplayer modes, as seen in PGR - so that nobody can gain any advantage from usage of different POW. Or to say it in different words: to have us all in the same bullholle.

Thats not fair to say - i wouldnt say one view is easier than another view, some people prefer bumper cam - some people prefer chase cam some prefer hood cam etc.....

E.g. I prefer bumper cam - my friend prefers chase cam - we each can acheive our best times with these different views. So if i create a race and lock the view to bumper cam - it is to my advantage!!! Therefore an unfair race.

I agree, you shouldn't force people to use just one cam type in multiplayer. If someone wants to use a certain camera angle that they're used to and they use the most, you shouldn't take it away from them. The cars and their tunings are what give you the advantages, not the camera view used.

Incar should be ONLY available POW in-game. You should be able to alter your seating position, but there should be a great "goodbye" to all other cams for driving.

Point: all would have to learn to drive both left-right cars, all tracks should be mastered form begging (it is very different feel to drive from left-right position, then from centered - try TOCA or PGR for example), and there would be no advantage for drivers who ted to drive even from the obscure roof-cam.

Dude, thats just wrong. Where's the fun or point in forcing people to drive in only one view? I myself drive the same in every view. I drive no faster or no slower so what "advantage" is being gained? Again, its wrong to force people to drive the view you have and make them learn to drive with that view. I see no freedom in that at all.

My point is pretty simple - it's a simulation. So, if it is asimulation, then it simulates driving a car. When you drive a car, you drive in cockpit. It's that simple.

It's more philosophycal approach, less praxis :D.

Yes but when you drive in the cockpit, it doesn't take up 60% of your viewing range. Plus, this is a video game. It's fictional in a sense that you can use different cameras to view your car while its racing which suits everyone because they can choose where they would like to view the car and the track from. Basically you shouldn't force people to use one camera just because it's realistic. If you want to use it, then use it. But people should be able to choose their view, just like in every other racing game. I personally would not want to use the interior cam because even tho it looks cool, it just doesn't offer the perspective and view range that I like. I prefer the chase cam because i can see the car (and how it's moving in relation to the other cars, track, etc.) and i can also see the track around me to know of any obstacles like other cars along side of me.

I'd love to be able to use the chase cam in GT5, but seeing as how PD has royally screwed it up in the post-GT3 games, I think I'll be forced to use the nose cam. :(

I don't know yet because it's my intention to use a 3 screen setup. Hope it will still be possible like in GT4. If (and I think it's possible because you have a left and right view) PD makes it possible to surround game (= 3 screen setup) with the onboard (dashboard) cam. view, think that this will be the one I'll use. I never used the chase cam, only the bumper cam.

Do you play GT with a FF wheel? If so take note of where the steering wheel is located.
That's right, it's in your hands. Not 6 feet in front of you on the TV screen.

While it's all nice and pretty to display the dash and working gauges etc it is not the most realistic camera position reletive to you actual seating position in your cockpit/living room. The cockpit view effectivly plonks you in the back seat to fit all the detail of the dash and wheel onto your already limited TV screen.

I can't stand the 'head movement replication' used in some games. Yes, when racing in real life your head does move around due to g-forces etc - but your body also 'feels' these g-forces so your brain compensates for these movements and forces - and therefore you don't actually notice them. Trying to replicate these movements in a game doesn't make it more realistic - just irritating.

If you race with the cockpit view alot this will not bother you.

While racing in GT5P, my mind tricks me into thinking that the hands and wheel on screen are mine. It feels very much like you are driving the car and the hands and wheel on screen are your own.

However this may be because I sit rather close to my 32" widescreen. My DFP is clamped 1 foot away from the TV. This makes for a very realistic/intense experience.

If you sit 6 feet away then this may be a prroblem, but for me it is not.

EDIT: Also, if you use bumper cam your view is always in the center of the car, which takes away more realism.

This really should be the case, but to please the many fans they must make other views available.

Adjusting from lefthand drive to righthand drive cars is so much fun in GT5P. It shoots the realism through the roof. There is no center drive cars in GT5P outise of the F1, so I can't wait to drive those in GT5. (McLaren F1/LeMans cars)

I agree with this as well. Visibility of different cars affect your driving. Peugeot 908 coupe drivers have complained about the visibility problems the roof causes while spyder prototypes have no such visibility problems.

NASCAR 2003 offers this option online (forced cockpit view). It should be there as an option along with racing line available/off, traction control available/off, ASM available/off, ABS available/off etc etc. Also, have you found any results on whether the driving view you use changes the physics?

Cockpit view for all :-), how realistic is a bumper cam? When i drive in cockpit view i hardly notice the hands, gauges or a wheel, and that is because my focus is on the track, apex not cockpit, like in real life, and also cockpit cam gives me more info about what is going on with the cars handling, and how to react.

The cam view that I miss the most in the GT series is the bonnet/hood view. If there is a bonnet/hood view in the game, I'll probably use this view for 95% of the time. Second view I really like is the bumper view. The interior view is very beautiful to watch and I use it occasionally. It limits your view on the track, it's, like MGR said and pointed out in his picture, if you have your steering wheel in front of you, why do you need a virtual wheel in the game?

The interior cam/view is very nice to look at during replays. Sit back, lean back and relax and enjoy the wonders of the graphics of GT5p, soon to be GT5.

For me personal: bonnet/hood view is how I want to play any race sim.

Cockpit view is the only view is use.

I must admit, it easier to with the bumper cam, but i clock the same lap times with in car view.

So for me its In Car View!

Chris 👍

Couldn't agree more

Cockpit view looks pretty and i'm sure that on a nice big screen you can still see plenty of the track ahead, but the actual view it gives is unrealistic, it's like driving from the back seats Hightower style.

I know this post is almost 2 years old but i couldnt agree more.

Cockpit view all the time as of day 3, of owning GT5p.

Only gripe is the lack of brightness at road track-London, but still only a matter of getting used to it.

I definitely agree with you about that, I have not driven London much so I am still not used to it. I have driven cockpit since day 1 of GT5p and will never use any other view if cockpit is available. I don't want to stop others using their favourite view though, that's taking it a bit to far.

London is playable after getting used to it in HD, on an SDTV its really no fun.
You should give it a go in the AM Vette thats a crazy feeling.

I was thinking about how bad it might be with a SD tv, considering I am lucky enough to play it on a 32' HD tv and it's still not great. I have never driven the AM Vette so I don't fancy taking it around London yet. :scared:

You should definately try out that car! I was a bit leery of trying out that car first as well, but it really is a great drive. 👍

Just like in real life? :sly:

Oh yeah, cockpit view all the way baby!

Are you forgetting that its not real life and if anything is obstructing your view in real life you could lean forward slightly or in any direction and it wouldnt be in your way.

But in a game you cant look round corners :dunce:

A mix of 2 or more, depending...not like the liars who say "in car only" just to sound impressive.
What makes you think that they are lying? Maybe the cockpit view is that good! :sly:

But of course there should be other views available, just like now. Whatever floats your boat! :)

No, I didn't forget that it's not real life. ;) I do agree that you should be able to adjust your view and look around more than you can now.

I said I only use in car and do you know what I am not lying. I don't do it because I think it's impressive, I drive in car because I like driving in car. I said I drive in car in this thread because I do.

Don't worry, he's just jealous. ;)

Thats why myself and alot of people choose bumper cam, no obstructions that are visible in cockpit view but in real life they arent a problem!

Are you serious? You find it unbeliveable that people will stick to one view (interior)...?

I must be a liar then. :indiff:
